Rebecca B. Stroud
Rebecca B. Stroud of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Salem, daughter of the late W.C. Woody and Lora Garner Woody, was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Calico Rock, Ark. She died Nov. 23, 2008, at Care Manor Nursing and Rehab in Mountain Home, at the age of 81.
She was united in marriage to Glen Stroud on Jan. 10, 1945. To this union, three children were born.
She graduated from Calico Rock High School in 1943 at age 16. She was employed by the Salem School District for many years in the lunch room. She was also employed by Fulton County Hospital in the housekeeping department until her retirement.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her son, Roger Stroud and wife Charlotte of Mountain Home; her daughter, Glenda Patterson and husband Pat of DeWitt; grandchildren, Scott Patterson and wife Melissa, Lisa Hill and husband Scott, Julie Trivitt and husband Tim, Robin Simpson and husband Greg, Jacob Stroud, Keith Pitts and wife Tabby and Michael Pitts; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother, James Woody and wife Barbara of West Plains, Mo.; sister, Lena Woody Hampton of Stuttgart; sisters-in-law, Imogene Crawford and husband Don of Salem, and Willa Faye Mills and husband Noel of Mammoth Spring; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her daughter, Dona Estes; and her father and mother.
Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Salem Church of Christ with burial following in Burks Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
Freda F. Lashley
Freda F. Lashley, 76, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Nov. 25, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born July 17, 1932, at Eugene, Mo., to Woodrow and Birde Emmerich Guinnip.
She was a licensed nurse, a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at Evening Shade.
Survivors include: her husband of 56 years, Robert "Bob" Lashley; one son, Bobby Lashley of Texarkana, Ark.; six brothers, Charlie Guinnip of Texarkana, Jimmy Guinnip of Tescolombia, Mo., Freddie Guinnip, Rex Guinnip, Ronnie Guinnip and Roger Guinnip all of Evening Shade; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceed in death by: her parents; one son, Eddie Eugene Lashley; one infant grandson; and one infant great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Evening Shade with Bro. John Deaton officiating. Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery located north of Evening Shade with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Betty "Lorene" Pool
Betty Ann "Lorene" Reynolds Pool, a resident of New Boston, Texas, was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Sandtown, Ark., the daughter of the late Earl and Nettie Reynolds. She died Nov. 25, 2008, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was a homemaker and of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Alvin Parr of New Boston, Texas, Janet and Roger Arvin of Foreman, Ark., Kay and Orville Smith of Maud, Texas, Barbara and Charles Swopes of Texarkana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Susan Pool of Richardson, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jason Parr and wife Susan of Germany, Julie Parr of Texarkana, Texas, Karen Vearrier and husband Larry of Fort Smith, Ark., Douglas Arvin of Foreman, Jeremy Smith and wife Gail of Texarkana, Texas, Mary Ann Pool and Alan Pool both of Richardson, Texas, Kaylin Swopes of Texarkana, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Boyd Reynolds of Batesville, Ark., Gene Reynolds of Texarkana, Texas, and Henry Reynolds of McLeod, Texas; two sisters, Murle Thompson of Cave City, Ark., and Carolyn Reynolds of Sandtown, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, James T. Pool; one daughter, Anna Mae Pool; four brothers, William Reynolds, Jurle Reynolds, Steve Reynolds and Tex Reynolds all of Sandtown, Ark.; and one sister, Wanda Smith of Poughkeepsie, Ark.
A private graveside service was held Nov. 28 in the Lee's Chapel Cemetery located at Sandtown, with Bro. J.W. Roach officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Debra D. Farris
Debra D. Farris, 53, of Mountain Home, Ark., died Nov. 20, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 6, 1955, in Modesto, Calif., to Vernon Hobert and Lois Gertrude Williams Smith. On March 21, 1993, she married David Farris in Mountain Home.
Farris co-owned the Servicemaster by Farris Clean.
She is survived by: her husband, David Farris of the home; a daughter, Tracy Duncan of Mountain Home; a brother, Robert "Butch" Smith of Bakersfield, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Carrie Farris of Mountain Home and Lori Nuesner of Fayetteville, Ark.; and six grandchildren, Peyton Bermingham, Roan Duncan, Terra Duncan, Ethan Nuesner, Gage Nuesner and Nealy Kate Nuesner.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Vernon Hobert Smith; mother, Lois Gertrude Reynolds; and a sister, Sandra Thomas.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 26 in the Roller Chapel with Rev. Duane Farris officiating. Interment followed in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko.
Ruth Haslett
Ruth Haslett, 86, of Moko, Ark., daughter of the late Thomas J. and Sarah Martha (Kelly) Hutson, was born on July 19, 1922, at Moko. She died Nov. 26, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Ruth was united in marriage to Woodrow Haslett on May 13, 1941, at Moko. She spent her working years as postmaster for the Moko Post Office and owner of Haslett's Grocery in Moko. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by: two sons, Robert Dale Haslett of Independence, Mo., and Jerry Lee Haslett Sr. (Ann) of Lawson, Mo.; one daughter, Carolyn Kay Barton (Ralph) of Moko; seven grandchildren, Jerry Lee Haslett Jr. (Donna), Brian Haslett (Krista), Jimmy Haslett (Stephanie), Allen Barton (Kristi), Christina Green (Jerry) and Rodney Haslett (Teresa) and Gwen Haslett; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; son, Billy Haslett; brother, Clyde Hutson; sister, Della Spencer; and two grandchildren, Mike Haslett and Sheryl Haslett.
Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in the Stateline Cemetery at Moko, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home.
Memorials preferred to the Spring River Home Health.
Frank Fuller
Frank Fuller, 85, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., was born on Nov. 12, 1923, in Rockford, Ill. He died Nov. 26, 2008, at the Crown Point Health and Rehab Center in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.
Frank worked in construction.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Ronald D. Warren
Ronald Dean Warren, 49, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born Sept. 30, 1959, in Pocahontas, Ark., and died Nov. 18, 2008, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
He is survived by: one daughter, Misty Carter; his significant other, Glenda Smutz and her children, Adam and Lisa; three sisters, Donna Clairday, Wanda Keltner and Joyce Jewell; one half-brother, Danny Quant; three half-sisters, Sue, Lou and Jetta; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Donald Warren and Willanette Barnett Warren; and one brother, Phillip Warren.
Memorial services were held Nov. 22 at the Clary Funeral Home in Mammoth Spring.
