Marjorie Oliver Heard
Marjorie Oliver Heard, 74, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died, Dec. 11, 2008, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. Marjorie was born April 4, 1934, in Elton, La., to the late Melina and Wayne Oliver.
She worked as a manager of a cancer clinic in Lafayette, La., as a church secretary, a legal secretary and was a house wife from 1975 on.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Willis Funeral Service in Batesville, Ark.
A memorial service was held at Cherokee Village First Baptist Dec. 18. Officiating was Bro. Larry Smith of First Baptist Church, Charley McKendrie of Lighthouse Baptist and Jimmie Polstou of The Community Church.
Charles Lee Dunn
Charles Lee Dunn, 73, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born July 9, 1935, in Birch Tree, Mo., and died Dec. 7, 2008, at his home.
He was united in marriage to Betty K. Baker on May 7, 1955.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty K. Baker; two sons, Gary and Brenda Dunn of West Plains, Mo., Randy and Diane Dunn of Mammoth Spring; two grandsons, Charles and Amanda Dunn of Cave City, Ark., Bryan Dunn of Mammoth Spring and Tonya Dunn of West Plains, Mo.; three great-granddaughters; three step-grandsons, Shawn, James and Justin; three step-sisters, Betty Willison, Donna Collins and Edith Forrester; two aunts; sister-in-laws, Carolee and Bartus Allen, Rosalie and David Wilson, Elaine and Mason Moody; brother-in-laws, Truman and Ann Baker, Bill and Sherry Nelson; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie Dunn and Edna Pittman Dunn; two brothers; two step-brothers; his mother-in-law; and father-in-law.
Services were held Dec. 10 at the Clary Funeral Home in Mammoth Spring with Bro. Bob Arnold officiating. Interment followed in the Flint Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan Dunn, Charles Dunn, Casey Nelson, David Nelson, Danny Dunn and Matthew Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Green, Homer Collins, Pete Rose and Joe Taylor.
Sean Alan Baldridge
Sean Alan Baldridge, 19, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born Feb. 24, 1989, in West Plains, Mo., and died Dec. 21, 2008.
He is survived by: his parents, Phillip and Deborah Baldridge; one brother, Dustin Baldridge; one sister, Samantha Baldridge; one niece, Candyce Baldridge; his paternal grandparents, Willard and Maxine Baldridge, all of Mammoth Spring; his maternal grandparents, George and Sue Reeves of Hardy, Ark., Linda Pope of McAlester, Okla.; his fiancée, Brianna Lindner of Hardy; two god-children; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services were held Dec. 23 in Clary Chapel with Bro. Wayne Hurst officiating. Interment followed in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer.
Kenneth Amiel Cooper
Kenneth Amiel Cooper, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Amiel Cooper and Annie Linderman Cooper was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Viola, Ark. He died Dec. 25, 2008, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home at the age of 77.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Moss on Jan. 31, 1957, in Jonesboro, Ark. To this union four children were born.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a U.S. postal worker and he also drove a school bus in Kansas City for many years. He was a member of the Salem VFW and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis of the family home; his children, Kendra Bealmear of Kansas City, Mo., Kevin Cooper and wife Susan of Boulder, Colo., Barry Cooper and wife Lisa of Pleasant Valley, Mo., and Keith Cooper and wife Suzanne of Gladstone, Mo.; grandchildren, Shawn Cooper, Tucker Bealmear, Alysia Cooper, Sarah Cooper, Kourtney Cooper, Tommy Bealmear, Wyatt Cooper and Krista Cooper; his sister, Dora Hall of Springfield, Mo.; brothers, Gary Cooper of Salem, Elwyn Cooper of Kansas City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and brothers, Ray, Clay, Carl and Charles Cooper.
Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in Gum Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
Elbert "Ace" White
Elbert "Ace" White, 76, of Highland, Ark., died Dec. 22, 2008, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab in Ash Flat, Ark. He was the son of the late Don White and the late Nellie (Linville) White.
He served in the Army and worked for the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, for over 20 years.
He is survived by: his wife, Maxine L (Baack) White; three daughters, July White of West Liberty, Iowa, Karma Joos of Columbia, Iowa, and Karin Cude of Russellville, Ark.; two sons, Randy White of Indianola, Iowa, and Tracy White of De Witt, Iowa; two sisters, Phyllis Ramsey of Keota, Iowa, and Judy White of Mitchellville, Iowa; two brothers, Bob White of Hot Springs, Ark., and Richard White of Winfield, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Highland.
A memorial service was held at Peace Lutheran Church Dec. 29 with Rev. Brian Pummell officiating.
Jason Farris
Jason Farris, 27, of Paris, Texas, formerly of Cave City, Ark., died Dec. 19, 2008, at a Paris, Texas, hospital. He was born April 16, 1981, at Batesville, Ark., the son of Marty and Ruby Farris.
He was a member of the Haven of Rest Ministries in Paris, Texas.
Survivors include: his mother, Ruby Farris; a sister, Misty Schmidt and husband, Jacob all of Sherwood, Ark.; his paternal grandmother, Oleta Landers of Cave City; his paternal great-grandmother, Grace Mooney of Batesville, Ark.; three nephews, Hunter Farris, Jadon Farris and Bently Schmidt; and many other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his father; his paternal grandfather, Coy Farris; and his maternal grandparents, Loyd and Mary Lou Wren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 23 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. John Russell and Bro. both Allen Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Wayne Clements, Josh Hampton, Sonny Whitt, Justin Monk, Chase Dorse, Craig Dorse and Mark Hatley.
Maggie Herron
Maggie Lorena (Tootsie) Bristow Herron, 92, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Dec. 25, 2008, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. She was born Nov. 3, 1916, at Williford, the daughter of the late John and Luetta Davis Bristow.
She was married to Frank Herron Oct. 31, 1929, in Sharp County, Ark. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of God in Peace Valley.
Survivors include: one grandson, Steve Rhoads; one great-granddaughter, Mindy Cowell, both of Ash Flat; and many other friends and relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Eulene Rhoads Courtwright; two brothers, Lester Bristow and Tilman Bristow; five sisters, Flora Nix, Ethel Brown, Elsie Herron, Imogene Neely and Dolly Gilmore.
Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at Higginbotham Funeral Service Chapel in Hardy with Wayne Goodman officiating. Interment followed at the Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat with arrangements by Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Raymond Branscum, Billy Don Herron, Ray Dean Brown, Junior Bristow, Cletus Bailey and David Bailey.
