Clara Opperman
Clara Eugenia Opperman, 72, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born March 4, 1936, in Kansas, and died Dec. 22, 2008, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
She is survived by: her husband, Robert Opperman, of Mammoth Spring; two sons, Michael Mullinix and Douglas Mullinix; one daughter, Sue Hughes; several grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and one daughter, Theresa Dooley.
Graveside services were held Dec. 24 at the Fryatt Cemetery near Mammoth Spring, Ark. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring.
Elmer Hughes
Elmer Hughes, 77, of Salem, Ark., son of the late John T. and Vernie (Owens) Hughes, was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Oklahoma. He died Dec. 9, 2008, at his home.
He spent his working years as a cook in the food service industry.
He is survived by: best friend, Margaret Crecelius of Salem; four grandsons, Glen Robertson, David Robertson, Jeremy Robertson and Andrew Robertson; one brother, Homer Hughes of Pleasanton, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: both of his wives; parents; son Gary Hughes; daughter Teresa Prothero; and 11 siblings.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church in Salem with Rev. Gary Barker officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
George W. Norris
George W. Norris, 84, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Dec. 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, Ark., the son of the late Jeff and Nora (Gay) Norris. George was born in Arkansas but moved to Kansas City, Mo., and lived there for 43 years before moving back to Arkansas.
He is survived by: his wife, Goldene (Orr) Norris of the home; with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Dec. 22, at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland. Burial followed at the Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Ark., with W.E. Norris officiating.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
Jake Roath
Jake Roath, 63, of Batesville, Ark., died Dec. 25, 2008, at his home. He was born May 12, 1945, at Neveda, Mo., the son of Jake and Bertie Mae Roath.
He was a United States Marine veteran having served during the Vietnam war.
He worked several years in the lumber business and was a salesman for Tri-County Electric in Desha.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Joseph Michael Roath.
Survivors include: his wife, Patsy Roath of the home; two sons, Heath Roath of Port Allen, La., and Brian Yeager of Batesville; one daughter, Heather Johnson of Louisiana; one sister, Yvonne Satterwhite and husband, Randy of Southside; six grandchildren, Garrett Yeager, Bethanie Sharp and Reagen Yeager all of Batesville, Braxton Yeager of Newark, Austin Payne and Evan Johnson both of Louisiana; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at the Alderbrook Cemetery located at Desha with Bro. David Insell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Terry Hipp, Ken Todd, Tim Johnson, Gary Hardin, Lenny Rush, Darin Dodrill, Andy Yeager and Larry Buhler.
Honorary pallbearers were: all employees, directors and board members of Citizen's Bank, employees of First Southern Bank, employees of Fall Creek Inn in Branson, Mo., Dr. J.R. Baker, Dr. Todd Rumins, Dr. Scott Stern, Dr. Fredrick R. Bentley and staff of UAMS and Dr. John Allgood.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Jake may be made to Believers' Community Church, 3645 N. St. Louis, Batesville, Ark.
Henry Harvey McKee
Henry Harvey McKee was born Feb. 13, 1916, and died Dec. 26, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Las Cruces, N.M. He was born in Jeff, Oregon County, Mo., to John H. and Gola Williams McKee.
He served his country in World War II in the Philippines as a member of the Army Signal Corp. He had worked for Arkansas-Missouri Power Company in Mammoth Spring, Ark., owned several gas stations in Las Cruces, N.M., drove a school bus in West Plains, Mo., Silver City, N.M. and Gila Bend, Ariz., and was also a barber.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge, Blue Lodge and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Alto Baptist Church, Alto, N.M.
He was survived by: his daughter Rosalie Spangler, of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister and her husband Ruth and Don Powell of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Dorothy McKee; brother, Gover McKee; his wife, Murl; two sons, Jon Harvey and Don A. McKee.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Getz Funeral Home with Smoky Blanton, a long time friend, officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Getz Funeral Home of Las Cruces, N.M.
Cosimo Joseph LoBuonon Jr.
Cosimo Joseph LoBuono, Jr., 62 of Hardy, Arkansas died on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas.
Born Saturday, May 13, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Cosimo LoBuno and the late Lela Pellegrin.
Survived by his brother, Anthony LoBuno of Hardy.
A private memorial service will be held in New Orleans, LA.
Kristian Shere Daniels
Kristain Shere Daniels, , 28 of Hardy, Arkansas died on Monday, in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Born Thursday, November 29, 1984 in Batesville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Robert and Debbie Herron Johnson. Also survived by her daughters, Cloie Daniels and Ally Daniels, brother, Jasson Johnson.
The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday at Heath Oak Hill Chapel, with Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating. Interment will be in Baker Cemetery, Ozark Acres, AR.
Memorials may be made to the Kristain Daniels Memorial fund for her girls.
