Louis "Lou" Benson
Louis "Lou" Benson, age 84, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Monday, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark. He Served in the Navy during World War II. Lou retired from Whiting Corp as a Structural Layout Specialist.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Benson and Sons, Roger Benson of Cherokee Village, Ark., Mark Benson of Chicago, Ill.
Memorial service will be at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 , Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating.
James Allen Brink
James Brink, age 71, of Hardy, AR, died Sunday at his Residence.
James worked in the heating and air business.
James was the son of late Earl and Etta (Harris) Brink.
He is survived by his wife Elaine (Miller) Brink of the home; Daughter, Lisa Brink of Hardy; Son, Troy Brink of Hidden Valley; Sisters, Nancy Oaks, Connie Olsen, and Wendy Brink; Brothers, Bob, Kenny, Dick, and Tom Brink and Three grandchildren
Services for James will be private.
Scott Brink
Mr. Scott Earl Brink, age 53, of Highland, AR died August 23, 2010 from a heat stroke. He was preceded in death by and infant niece.
Scott is survived by his parents Bob and Maxine Brink; siblings and spouses Sidney and Vicki Brink, Kip and Kathy Brink, all of Highland, AR; Kirk and Deanna Brink, Betsy Diaz of Hardy, AR; Bobby and Roberta Mullins of Ozark Acres, AR; Bryan and Tania Rich of Sweetwater, TN; 17 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece.
Scott was an organ donor and donated his body so that others could live a better life.
Family and friends are invited to a remembrance of his life at 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 27, 2010 at the home of Kirk and Deanna Brink, 82 Belle Lane, Hardy, AR.
In lieu of flowers an account has been set up at First National Banking Company to help cover medical expenses.
Ralph I. Jones
Ralph Jones, age 83, of Cherokee Village, died Sunday in Mountain Home. Ralph was retired from Ford Motor Company. He Served in the Navy during World War II and was one of the first Navy Seals.
He is survived by: his wife, Joan Jones of the home; Daughter Shelley Worth of Toledo, Ohio; Three Sons: David Jones of Cherokee Village and Kevin Jones of Boston, Mass. Robert Jones of Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; One Sister Shirley Geiman of Toledo, Ohio; Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Thursday with Military Honors.
Rosary service will be at 6:30PM Wednesday at Heath Oak Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM - 6:30PM.
Richard F. Brittingham
Mr. Richard Frank Brittingham, age 89, of Hardy, died Sunday, February 24, 2008, at Eaglecrest Nursing & Rehab in Ash Flat, Ark. Before retiring Mr. Brittingham was a Supervisor at the St. Louis County Health Unit, before moving to Missouri Richard worked as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in Little Rock AR.
He was the son of the late Richard Brittingham and the late Willie (Reid) Brittingham.
He is survived by a daughter Judy Ann Lane of Hardy. He is also survived by a grand-daughter Carrie Bourdow and Husband Tony of Lansdale, PA; and three grandchildren Jenna, Emily and Nicholas Bourdow all of Lansdale, PA.
Funeral service will be at Heath Oak Hill Chapel at 11:00 AM Friday, February 29, 2008, with Rev Thomas Rhoades officiating. Interment will follow in Baker Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, before the service.
Robert B Hamilton
Mr. Robert Bruce Hamilton, age 63, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Hamilton was a Truck Driver.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Margaret (Sheldon) Hamilton; One Daughter, Tracey Lynn Hamilton of Virginia; One Sister, Margaret Law and One Brother, James Hamilton.
Robert "Bob" Slayton
Mr. Robert Lee Slayton, age 80, of Hardy, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Jonesboro. Mr. Slayton retired as the Chief of Fire and Security for the City of Cherokee Village, and was a former Arkansas State Trooper; he was a member of Ward Street Church of Christ where he served as an elder for over 30 years.
He was the son of the late Joe Slayton and the late Barbara Stevens Slayton. He is also preceded in death by one brother Joe Ed Slayton and one sister Bobbie King.
Bob is survived by: his wife Jean Inness Slayton of Hardy; Three Daughters: Leala Jean Morgan of Hardy, Pat Fowler of Jonesboro and Foster Daughter Tina Dees of Jonesboro; Four Sisters: Lou Taylor of Cherokee Village, Mary Miner of Paragould, Elizabeth Bradford of Paducah, KY and Sally Powers of West Memphis; Four Brothers: Bill Slayton of Cherokee Village, David Slayton of Flint, MI, Richard Slayton of Pocahontas and Danny Slayton of Williford.
He is also survived by: two grandchildren Donna Jean Goodwin and Faron Lee Morgan; two great grandchildren Katelyn Goodwin and Mikayla Goodwin; one foster grandchild Ashley Robertson; and one foster great grandchild Keely Robertson.
A funeral service will be in Heath Oak Hill Chapel on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 3:00 PM with Brother Tom O’Neal, Brother Joe Spangler and Brother Jack Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Baker Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time.
Robert E. Zeck
Robert Edmund Joseph Szczech born July 2, 1913, in Minneapolis, MN died February 21, 2008 in Salem AR.
Bob, as he was known, was a retired lawyer, he was a graduate of De La Salle High School, Minneapolis, MN and a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN. Bob practiced law in Minnesota until his retirement in 1978, when he moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. He also practiced for a short time while in AR.
He married Mary M. Bachler on July 3 1933, in Minneapolis. She died on Dec. 20, 1991. There were born unto this marriage 4 daughters and 3 sons: Barbara Ann Murphy (Russell) of Chaska, MN; Janice Carol McCarthy of Green Bay, WI; Gerald Anthony Zeck (Pamela) of Sarasota, FL; Gregory Robert Zeck (Jennifer) of Richfield, MN; Kathleen Mary Corey of St. Paul, MN; Jeanne Marie Zeck (partner Mark Vincent) of Jacksonville, IL and Robert Michael Zeck, who died in June 1995.
Robert is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
On April 8, 1995 he married Louise R. Nichols of Cherokee Village, they moved to Horseshoe Bend one month later.
Bob was always involved in Church activities wherever he lived. In Minneapolis, he was also active in the Lyn – Lake Lions Club for ten years. In Cherokee Village and Horseshoe Bend he belonged to the Kiwanis Club. In addition, he and Mary were actively involved in the Pro-Life movement for many years. They both worked with Fran Hayes when she started the Alpha Pregnancy Problem Center of Batesville. Bob joined the Knights of Columbus in 1952 and held many offices in local councils and in the Fourth Degree Assembly.
A Mass for Bob will be held on Wednesday February 27, 2008 at 9:00Am, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend with Father Venantius Preske officiating. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cherokee Village at a later date.
