Reverend Herman Morris
Reverend Herman Darrell Morris was born April 15, 1926 in Green County, Arkansas. He died July 30, 2010 at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at 84 years of age. Reverend Morris’s last pastorate duties were at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan. The last Gospel Message he preached was at the Pioneer General Baptist Church Ash Flat, Missouri in 1998.
He was the son of the late Melvin Morris, his step-father was Willie Rogers and his mother was Grace Morris (Rogers). He was preceded in death by father, mother, step father and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his by his wife Wanda (Gregory) Morris, his twin brother Rev. Therman Harold Morris, his daughter Rita Kay (Morris) Shelton, her sons Billie and Kevin Shelton of Cherokee Village AR, son Darrell and wife Linda Morris, their sons Bradley, Stephen and Markaus, of Macomb, Michigan, daughter Tiffany Passarelli of Daphne, Al and son Charles and wife Dee Morris, their daughter Lisa Carmosino, of Soddy Daisy, TN, and son Brian Morris of Sweet Water, TN; 8 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Hardy with Dr. Larry Kindrick and Pastor Brian Morris Officiating. Interment will follow in Bronaugh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 pm till 8:00pm at Heath Oak Hill Chapel.
Milton E. Morris
Milton Morris, 69, of Highland, died Friday, at Residence.
The son of the late J C Morris and the late Ruth (Lawson) Morris.
Survived by his wife Rosemarie Morris of the home; Daughters, Melody Brink of Highland, and Sara Firment of Mountain Home, AR Sister, Margarette Clarkin of Lake Villa, Ill. And a Aunt Sally Bivins of Princeton, IL and Three grandchildren
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to service time, Memorial service will be at Heath Funeral Home, of Highland at 7:30 PM Monday, Brother B J Roy officiating.
Elsie Morrison
Elsie Morrison, age 93, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Thursday, in Ash Flat, Ark.
She is also survived by her Daughter, Linda Taylor of Cherokee Village.Sons, Ted Morrison of Walls, Miss. and Scott Morrison of Tampa, Fla., Sisters, Jean Jaynes of Memphis, Tenn. And Dorthy Butler of Luling, La. Seven grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren
Visitation will be 1:00 PM till service time. Funeral service will be at Cherokee Village First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Monday, Brother Larry White officiating. Interment in Bronaugh Cemetery in Hardy
Robert L. Murphy
Mr. Robert L Murphy, age 79, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., died Monday, in Ash Flat.
Survived by his wife Ruby (Powell) Murphy; Seven Daughters, Elaine Kent, Cheryl Murphy, Janet Hester, Jackie Murphy, Donna Murphy, Toni McGraw and Linda Funkhouser, Three Sons, Charles Shaw, Michael Murphy and John Mike Henry, Two Sisters, Wanda Rhoades and Barbara Waldron along with several Grand and Great Grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at Collins Cemetery at 2:00 PM Thursday, Brother Mike Stanley officiating. Interment will be at Collins Cemetery in Wirth, Ark.
Eleanor Nawrocki
Mrs. Eleanor Marie Nawrocki, age 83 died Tuesday September 8, 2009 in Mountain Home. She was born May 27, 1926 to Jerry and Barbara Varecka in New York City. She worked as a legal secretary for eight years until she married Stanley J. Nawrocki on June 28, 1952 in Flushing, NY. They then moved to Adrian, MI, Toledo, OH, Elmhurst, IL, Milwaukee, WI, and finally to Cherokee Village, AR.
She was a very talented artist who displayed and sold many of her paintings.
She spent thirty years as a meeting leader for Recovery Inc. which advocates "Mental health through will training" where she helped many people to cope with every day living.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Stanley Jr. of Milwaukee, Jerry of Cherokee Village; two nephews, Edward and John Majiwski of Milwaukee and three grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Nawrocki of Milwaukee and Rebecca Nawrocki of Cherokee Village.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 2:00pm at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Tom Marks Officiating. Interment will be in St. Michaels columbarium. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Elmer Newburn
Elmer Newburn, age 89, of Cherokee Village, died Friday, December 11, 2009 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Elmer served in the Army during World War II and was a part of the disassembly of two concentration camps. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Elmer was the son of the late Frank Newburn and the late Mary (Tunze) Newburn.
He is survived by his wife Lillian (Mollenhour) Newburn; Son Elmer Joe Newburn and wife Lorna of Mountain Home, AR; Grand Daughters Angela Duncan of Highland and Erica Huff of Naperville, IL; Great Grand Daughters Laura Baldridge, Natlie McCandless, Michaela Kevan; one Great Grand Son Creston Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three Brothers and five Sisters.
Elmer was a generous donor to the Genesis Program.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Saint Michael’s Columbarium.
Gary Mitchell
Gary D. Mitchell, 8 year old son of Terry and Paula Mitchell of Joplin, MO., former Chanute, Kansas residents, passed away at 6:11 am. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Following an accident. Gary was born August 24, 200 in Chanute, Kansas and moved to Joplin in November, 2009. He was about to enter the 3rd grade at Kelsey Norman Elementary School in Joplin. He attended the Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin.
Additional survivors include seven brothers, Dustin Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell and Howard Mitchell, all of Chanute, Kansas and Sheldon Mitchell, Jonathan Cavitt, and Dmitry Cederberg, all of Joplin, three sisters, Brittany Mitchell, Chanute Kansas, Katrina Kelley, Topeka, Kansas, and Katherine Riggs, Parker, Kansas, his maternal grandparents, Terry and Carol Shakelford, Hardy Arkansas, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Betty Davison, and uncle Gary Mitchell, and a cousin, Nikole Ramsdell.
Services will be at 1:00pm Saturday at the Forest Park Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. John Swadley, and Pastor Greg Fels, Officiating. Private family burial will be Sunday at Baker Cemetery in Hardy, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin.
Faye E. Lassiter
Faye E. Lassiter, age 67, of Cherokee Village, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. She was the daughter of the late Gerald Parcel and Anna (Perry) Parcel.
She is survived by her husband William "Bill" Lassiter of the home; Daughter, Debra Phillips of Kopperl, Texas; Son Billy Earl Lassiter, Jr. of Lajuntia, Texas; Mother, Anna Parcel of Winamac, Indiana; Sisters, Judith Castanuela of Cross Plains, Texas and Mary Schultz of Star City, Indiana. She is also survived by Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday in Heath Oak Hill Chapel, Rosary will be held at 7:30PM. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00AM Thursday November5, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Tom Marks officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Columbarium in Cherokee Village.
