Linwood Davis
Linwood Davis, age 83,of Cherokee Village, was born January 9, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child of Percy L. and Tenney Spence Davis. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Japan with the 1st Cavalry Division after the war as a Japanese interpreter. Following graduation from Concordia (Lutheran) Seminary, St Louis, Missouri in 19854 where he served three congregations in Tokyo, Fukushina and Fukaya. His stateside ministry included pastoral service in the greater St. Louis area, Southern Illinois, Southern California and Arkansas. He retired from the Louisiana Hospital Association as Director of Public Relations and Director of Education. He is survived by his wife Gloria of Cherokee Village, Sons Mitchell Davis of Sherwood, AR., Preston Davis of Flagstaff, Arizona and Alvin Karter of Ponchatoula, Louisiana Daughters Donna Bouterie of Hammond, Louisiana, Suellen Buckley of New Orleans, Louisiana and Renee’ Champagne of Gonzales, Louisiana and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Linwood Davis Jr and a granddaughter Beverly.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00am at Peace Lutheran Church of Cherokee Village with Pastor Brian Pummell officiating. Memorials may be made to the Church.
Richard Denmon
Richard (R G) Denmon, age 60, of Hardy, died Monday, at Eaglecrest Nursing & Rehab in Ash Flat.He was retired from the Lumber industry.
He is also survived by his Daughter Marilyn Anding of Hardy, Ark. Sisters, Jessie Bell Denmon, Patsey Marie Denmon, Agnes Faye Denmon and Mary Ann Denmon.
Brothers: Roy, Frank, Johnny, Bobby, George Denmon all of Winnsboro, La.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday in Heath Oak Hill Chapel, Graveside funeral service will be at Baker Cemetery at 10:30 AM Thursday.
Charlotte Dienst
Charlotte Dienst, age 84, of Williford, died Friday, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. Charlotte was a homemaker and a cake designer.
She was the daughter of the late Lester Hage and the late Leah (Baie) Hage.
She is survived by her Two Daughters and spouses, Dawn and Jim Swenson of Salem, IL and Cheryl and Ward Hearn of Somonauk, IL; Two Sons and spouses, Kevin and Ann Dienst and Kim Dienst of Hardy; One Brother, Gene Hage of Sandwich, IL; Twelve grandchildren, Twenty great-grandchildren and Two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Friend and companion Harold DuBien.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her Husband Carl Dienst.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Kal Dienst, Gary Dienst, Kenny Dienst, Phillip Swenson, Kris Swenson, Keith Hearn, Aaron Hearn and Bryce Hearn.
Funeral services will be held in Heath Oak Hill Chapel at 2:00 PM Tuesday with Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating, a special friend Bonnie Sweet will sing. Interment will be follow in Baker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday.
Joseph Tucsak
Joseph Tucsnak, 82, of Williford passed away Sunday at the Fulton County Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosa, one sister, Catherine; and on daughter, Terry Tucsnak.
He is survived by a son, Joey, of Tennessee; daughters, Judy (Gary) Holder, Margaret (Junior) Veteto and Kathy (Alex) Witcher of Jonesboro, Susan Gann of Batesville, Phillis (Marvin) Gilbert of Smithville, Maureen Roger of New Jersey; a brother, Alvin of New Jersey; 15 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
He was a member of the Ravenden Masonic Lodge; a member of the Plumbers and Pipe-fitters Union and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He loved gardening, flying and traveling.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, at 6-8pm at the Smithville Baptist Church.
Valerie Van Cleave
Valerie Van Cleave, age 90, , died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Eaglecrest Nursing & Rehab in Ash Flat. Valerie was a loving wife and mother. She was the daughter of the late Charles Bryant and the late Cleoria (Childress) Bryant.
Valerie is survived by her Daughters, Myra and Louis Preston of Cherokee Village. Dee and Sal Salvador of Lake Charles, LA and Leta McNair of Phenix City, AL; Sons, Reggie and Rose Van Cleave of Ontario, CA and Mark and Kristin Van Cleave of Galesburg, MI; Sister, Jimmie and Bill Peters of Sulphur, LA; Nineteen grandchildren, Twenty Three great-grandchildren, Seven great-great grandchildren and her Loving Eaglecrest family.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Chesley Van Cleave, Son Charles Van Cleave, Sisters Hazel Childress, Nina, Omega Dixon and Frances West, Brothers, Cecil, Rodolph, Charles (Buddy) and Johnny Bryant and one Granddaughter Tiffany Van Cleave.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. A Graveside service will be held 2:30PM in Highland Cemetery with Bro. Lamar Huffman Officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Houston, Bruce Houston, Jeremy Bond, James Rivers, Vic Salvador and Jeff Presley.
Hugh Clay Wade
Mr. Hugh Wade, age 91, of Cherokee Village, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Hugh was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church Cherokee Village. He was the son of the late Hugh Clarence Wade and the late Mary Elizabeth (Roberson) Wade. He was Preceded in death by his parents, his Wife, Joyce Roberson Wade 5-17-2009, one Daughter, Mary Lou Wade Hampton 7-29-2002 and one Son, Robert Wade 1-23-2003.
He is survived by his Daughter, Carolyn King of Lawson, MO; Sons, Frank Wade of Palm Springs, CA, and Ronny Wade of Bella Vista, AR; Nine grandchildren and Seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in Heath Oak Hill Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the Agnos Cemetery with Bro. Larry White Officiating.
Charlie L. Welch
Charlie L. Welch, age 95 of Hardy, AR, went home to be with the Lord Monday. He was born Oct 13, 1914 in Fisher, AR. He was a Christian who attended regularly at the Ward Street Church until the last months of his life.
Charlie served his country in WWII from 1942-1945 he fought ground combat in Okinawa for the U.S. Army.
Charlie shared a wonderful 65 years with his beloved wife Juanita. He loved to garden and spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by wife Juanita (Mullins) Welch 5 Children, George and Linda Welch of Hardy, Diane and Jim McNair of Eureka, IL, Gerald and Diane Welch of Hardy, Brenda and Dan Dupree of Williford, and Mary and Danny Holman of Greenville, MS, 17 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, one sister Violet Gatlin of Jonesboro, one brother Howard and Frances Welch of Evening Shade, and a host of nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm in the Ward Street Church of Christ in Hardy. The visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time. Brothers Gerald Bolin and Tom O’Neal Officiating and grandsons Josh Hussung and Kyle Welch will have a special reading. Interment will be in the Baker Cemetery. Pallbearers are Archie Williams, Bruce Lowe, Paul Garner, Kevin Lynxwiler, Wayne West and Danny Slayton.
