John W. Stanton
John William Stanton, 96 years of age, of Hardy, AR, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his home in Hardy.
John was born December 13, 1913 in Porum, OK to James Wallace and Francis Luella (Holmes) Stanton
He married Madge Lucille Evatt in 1935. They owned and operated a Dairy Business for many years, before moving to San Pedro, California in 1941, where he worked in the ship yards as a welder during World War II. After the war he moved to Saudi Arabia for Betchel Corp. for five years, then moved to Santa Barber, CA, where he owned and operated Stanton and Sons General Contractor for many years. He retired to Hardy, AR, with his wife of 75 years.
He was a man of many talents, he spent his years of retirement building his dream home, gardening he loved to build things with natural rock, a true craftsman. He loved to travel with his beloved wife to many different places both far away and close to home.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 75 years Madge Lucille Evatt, his Brother Robert Lee Stanton, Sister Georgia May Mosley and a infant brother Frankie Stanton.
John is survived by, Two Daughters, Jeanie Still of Hardy, Deborah Yoke of Pagosa Springs, CO; Three Sons, John David Stanton of Imboden, AR, Gerald Stanton of Coeur D Alene, ID and Michael Stanton of Camarillo, CA. He is also survived by 27 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be at New Hope Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 , with Brother Keith Marlin officiating. Interment will follow in Baker Cemetery in Ozark Acres. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Funeral Home.
David G. Stone
David Gregory Stone, of Cherokee Village, died Saturday, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, at the age of 38 years, 3 months and 13 days. Greg was born in Mesa, Arizona, the son of David Stone and Carla (Valdez) Stone
He is survived by his wife Lynn Stone, Daughter Melanie Stone, Son Eric Stone of Cherokee Village, Sister Ashley Stone of California, Brother Jeff Stone of Arizona and his parents and his maternal grandparents Roy and Franky Santa Cruz.
Greg was a painter, but his real love was his family and friends. He enjoyed being able to be with Lynn, Eric and Melanie. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and most of all composing and playing music. He was full of life when around and helping friends and others in need.
Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00PM till service time, Funeral service will be at 2:00PM at Heath Oak Hill Chapel with Joey Barnes officating.
Betty Strattman
Betty Ann Strattman, Age 92, Died May 4, 2010 in Boulder, Colorado. Betty was a long time organist for St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. She left Cherokee Village shortly after her husband, J. Kenneth Strattman died. She is survived by one son, Joseph K. Strattman III and Two daughters, Sharon Doerr and Maianne Kennedy all of Colorado. Interment will be at the St. Michael's Catholic Memorial Garden Columbarium at 10 A.M. Thursday June 10th with Father Tom Marks officiating. Heath Oak Hill Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Lorine Sussenbach
Mrs. Lorine Sussenbach, age 76, of Cherokee Village, died Monday, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. Lorine was retired from University of Tennessee as a Pathologist.
Survived by her Two Daughters, Mary K. Baggett of Arlington, Tenn. And Patricia Ladd of Kansas City, Kan. Sons, Clarence and Katina Baggett of Cherokee Village, and Harry C. Hosford of Kansas City, Kan. Brother, Leonard Jefferson Davis of Brownstown, Ill.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 am till service time at 10:00 am, Interment will follow in Byhalia Cemetery in Byhalia, Miss. at 3:00 pm.
Lois Reed
Mrs. Lois I. Reed, 96, of Cherokee Village passed away on May 24, 2010 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was a charter member of the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.
She was born March 16, 1914, in New Shanon, Iowa. Survivors include 3 sons, Donald of the home, Dennis and his wife Rita of Jonesboro, Delbert and his wife Barbara of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandchildren, Michael Reed of Ankeny, Iowa Laura VanRoekel and her Husband C.J. of Booneville, Iowa; two great grandchildren Grace and Jonathan VanRoekel of Boonville, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Reed, her sister Glenna Rhine, and one brother Donald Rhine.
Education and Learning was her life. She taught school for over 40 years. She started teaching when she was sixteen in a one room school house in Iowa. After marrying Walter Reed, They moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois where she taught remedial reading. In 1964 Walter retired and they moved to Cherokee Village. With the help of Mrs. John Cooper, she started the first private kindergarten in Sharp County. Later she taught first grade at the Cherokee Village Elementary School until her retirement at the age of 72. She then was instrumental in beginning the literacy league in Sharp County.
Visitation will start at 10:00A.M. At the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church with Services at 11:00A.M Friday. Under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Highland. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that lasting memorials be made to the St. Bernard's Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro or the Cherokee Village Untied Methodist Church.
Mary Gean Richard
Mary Gean Richard, age 66, of Hardy, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009, at her home in Hardy. She moved to Hardy 10 years ago from Memphis, Tennessee.
She was the daughter of the late Albert Ballanti and the late Evelyn Dickinson.
She is also survived by her life time companion for over 25 years Richard Martin Sr., of Hardy.
One son, Bobby Wayne Richard, of Memphis, Tennessee, Three step-children, Dianne Marmino of Batesville, Mississippi, Richard Martin Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee and Brian Martin of St Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by one Sister, Dena Gail Landers, two brothers, Gary Bellanti, and Albert Bellanti, Jr. all of Memphis, Tennessee. Twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren
Arrangements are being handled by Heath Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel, Highland, Ark., where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday, Funeral service will be at Heath Oak Hill Chapel at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Highland.
Wayne Richardson
Virgil Wayne Richardson, age 64, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., died Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Ozark Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Ark. Wayne was employed by Regal Balouy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joshua "Jack" Richardson and the late Margaret Irene Richardson. And one son CPL Joshua Richardson USMC.
He is also survived by his wife Edith Richardson; of the home, Daughters, Marsha Barton of Alton, Mo. and Doris Jean Powell of Lesley, Ark. and Montana Richardson of the home, son Jimmy Richardson of Arizona, Brothers, Joshua Richardson of Arizona and Jimmy Richardson of Texas. 4 Grandchildren

Charlie Robbins, age 74, of Hardy, Ark., died Tuesday, at the Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab.
Survived by his daughters Doris Wetter of St. Charles, IL and Judy Hoffman of Big Rock, IL five Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren
A memorial service will be at Spring River Baptist Church at 1:00 PM Thursday, Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating. Interment will be in the Bronaugh Cemetery.
