Ruth Maude Terry
November 11, 1920 - April 25, 2013
Ruth Maude Terry, age 92, of Acorn, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at her home. She was born on Thursday, November 11, 1920 to James Melvin and Rosa Belle Rogers Wilson in Miami, Oklahoma.
Ruth loved be a volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program in the Acorn School District. She was very fond of all the children. She also enjoyed collecting stamps. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earnest Terry; two brothers, Cleo and Henry Wilson; one sister, Ethel Valliere; one infant grandson, Tiny.
Survivors include two son, Raymond Terry of Acorn and Clifford Terry and wife Bonnie of Sheridan; one daughter, Connie Brooks and husband, Delbert of Fayetteville; two brother, George Wilson and Joe Wilson of Spiro, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty Haines of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 29, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jerry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Owens Chapel Cemetery at Acorn. Visitation will be general.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Special Olympics, P.O. Box 16388, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72231-6388.
William "Matt" Matthew Smith
June 24, 1960 - May 7, 2014
Matt Smith, age 53, of Mena, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his home. He was born Friday, June 24, 1960 to Marvin Thomas and Hester Ann Walston in Mena, Arkansas.
Matt lived life to the fullest by doing everything in life that made him happy. He worked many years for US Motors and then worked setting monuments in cemeteries all over the place. Matt was very close to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles and on one occasion rode to Sturgis to the bike rally there. He was a friend to all and was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Robbie Mindle and Sue Shaw.
Matt is survived by two sons, William Matthew Smith, Jr. of Greenwood and Jeremiah Thomas Smith of Mena; one daughter, Brandi Duncan of Mena; one brother, Johnny Smith of Mena; one sister, Carolyn Standridge of Mena; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Owens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. No visitation is planned.
Jill Ann Gonzalez
May 6, 1966 - April 24, 2014
Jill Ann Gonzalez, age 47, of Mena died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital Hot Springs in Hot Springs. She was born Friday, May 6, 1966 to Benny Gordon and Jill Sandra Curry Bushert in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Jill was known as a free spirit and always enjoyed doing what made her feel good. She was a 1984 graduate of Mena High School. She played the trumpet in the high school band. She was a homemaker who loved playing the piano; animals, reading, arts and crafts and listening to 80's Rock music, but loved spending time with her children the most. She loved her children very much and was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Jill Ann is survived by her son, Daniel Gordon Bushert Gonzalez of Mena; her daughter, Nicole Marie Gonzalez of Mena; one brother, David Bushert of Mena; two sisters and brothers in law, Sandra and Wesley Means of Dardanelle and Cindy and Dean Boyd of Mena; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 12-4 P.M. at Boyd Interiors, 104 Airport Lane, Mena, Arkansas 71953. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorial can be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22311.
Bobby Andrew Pullen
July 5, 1948 - October 11, 2020
Bobby Andrew Pullen, age 72, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on Monday, July 5, 1948 to Andrew Jackson and Madge Lou Deramus Pullen in Mena, Arkansas.
Bobby became a Christian later in life and was baptized. He volunteered during a time of drafting and went in to serve proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He believed that his word was his bond, and he always lived by that value. Bobby worked for the Cimeron Lumber Yard in Hatfield for seventeen years. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, and most of all, working side by side with his Dad. His children and grandchildren were so important to him, and he was very proud of his family. Bobby said his greatest joy was marrying his wife, Pamela. Bobby was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Billy Ray Pullen.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Pam Pullen of Mena; one son and daughter in law, Andy and Connie Pullen of Wink, Texas; one daughter, Sherry VanZant of Medlin, Texas; one step son, James Mooney of Mena; three step daughters, Christina Heff of Greenwood, Arkansas, Michele Ferrell of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Angela Ewing of Cove, Arkansas; one brother, Jeff Pullen of Mena; one sister, Karen Peek of Vandervoort; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Granville Fred Goodman I am a Veteran.

Granville Fred Goodman, age 71, of Mena, Arkansas died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home. He was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1942 to David and Retta Jones Goodman in Dallas, Texas.
Fred as he was known to family and friends, served proudly in the United States Marines Corp. He lived life to the fullest and had a deep scene of family values. Fred loved his family and spending time with them. He was a said to be a very wise person and was able to help anyone that needed it. Fred work for many years as an aircraft and electrical engineer for McDonald Douglas, Rockwell International and Alcatel before retiring. Fred enjoyed playing golf and billiards. Fred was a loving, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sharon Goodman and his second wife, Sheila Goodman; two brothers, J.D. Goodman and David Goodman; two sisters, Joyce Hamm and Della Jane Skinner and one grandson, Robert Sanders.
Fred is survived by one son, Scott Askew of Bonham Texas; five daughters and sons in law, Cynthia and Dana Snively of Austin, Texas, Ruth Sanders of Bonham, Texas, Jana and Ken Mayes of Medford, Oregon, Tammi and David Smith of Nacogdoches, Texas and Leslie Johnson of Mena; two sisters, Barbara Latham of Duncanville, Texas and LaQuetta Prather of Irving, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Daryl Snively, Thomas Askew, Jason Askew, Bryan Mayes, Kara Mayes, Garrett Johnson, Colton Johnson, Justin Smith, Shari Locke, Ryan Smith and Amanda Smith; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
Bethany Jo Solomon
December 23, 1989 - July 8, 2018
Bethany Jo Solomon, age 28 of Cherry Hill, Arkansas, died, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born on Saturday, December 23, 1989 to Roger Lee and Darlene Furlong Solomon in Mena, Arkansas.
Bethany was a sweet person that loved her family and friends. She was a kind person and worked in all aspects of her life; after high school she attended Rich Mountain Community College and graduated with her Associates of Fine Arts Degree and continued at Texas A&M; Texarkana with her Bachelor's Degree in Communication. Bethany loved to cook for her family and planning for social events, from birthday to holidays. Bethany was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Solomon.
Bethany is survived by her mother, Darlene Solomon of Cherry Hill; her brother, Scotty Solomon of Cherry Hill; her sister, Dana Solomon of Cherry Hill and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
