Agnes Jeanette Walker Hinds
July 19, 1926 - October 9, 2014
Agnes Jeanette Walker Hinds, age 88, of Mena, Arkansas died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at her home. She was born on Monday, July 19, 1926 to Marion Ervin and Julia Tubbs Walker in Coleman, Alabama.
Agnes lived her life loving her Lord, family and others. She always said, “Do not be any where you would not want Christ to be at.” She attended First Baptist Church in Mena for many years, and she taught Sunday school, directed Bible school, and was a part of the WMU in her churches in Alabama and Georgia. She loved her family unconditionally and always wanted the best for them. Her grandchildren where a big part in her life and taught them about faith and life. She enjoyed playing cards, such as Bridge, Canasta, and Pinochle. She graduated from Brookwood High School with a 4.0 GPA and also in nursing school. She worked for 20 years for AllState Insurance Company in Atlanta, Georgia. She also enjoyed cooking with some of her favorites, Fried Chicken, Pumpkin Pies and all holiday dishes. Agnes was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Agnes is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Edmond Hinds; two brothers, James Walker and Percy Walker; three sisters, Ethel Young, Lorene Galloway and Bernice Young; and one grandson, Scott Berry.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Warren Glenn and Barbara Hinds of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughters and son in law, Beverly and Michael Hooks of Allyn, Washington and Jeanette Berry of Mena; one sister, Lois Thrasher of Hoover, Alabama; one brother in law, Earnest Young of McCalla, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Jennifer McElroy of Snohomish, Washington, Justin Hooks of Silverdale, Washington, Brittney Biddle of Byron, Georgia, Dustin Hinds of Acworth, Georgia, Joshua Hinds and Katie Hinds of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Michelle Arroyo of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Stephanie Caswell of Acworth, Georgia; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. Lance Sawyer and Dr. David McCord officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Brown-Service Funeral Home in Bessemer, Alabama with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bessemer. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
The Mena Pallbearers will be David Ray, Jason Hendricks, Don Hall, E Wayne McDaniel, Michael Vaughn and Ray Bellows.
The Bessemer Pallbearers will be Jerry Young, Robert Kennedy, Bryan Kennedy, John Kennedy, Richard Patterson and Dustin Hinds.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Scott Berry Memorial Fund at Rich Mountain Community College Foundation, 1100 College Drive, Mena, Arkansas 71953.
Eura Dean Dunagan I am a Veteran.

Eura Dean Dunagan, age 77, of Watson, Oklahoma, died Monday, October 6, 2014 in Mena. He was born on Thursday, August 19, 1937 to Frank Benton and Mary Maude Smith Dunagan in Watson, Oklahoma.
Dean served his country in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. He worked 18 years for Alltel serving south Polk County, Arkansas and McCurtain County, Oklahoma, as well as a small business owner for many years. Dean was a longtime board member and overseer of West View Cemetery in Cove, which was dear to his heart. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and carpentry. Dean was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marcell Dunagan; two sisters, Lettie Mae Dunagan and Cozetta Sager.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Julie and Aaron Stancil of Horatio, Arkansas and Christy and John Nance of Mena, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Colby Stancil, Courtney Stancil, Caitlin Stancil and Laci Stancil all of Horatio and Lindsay Onstad of Avondale, Arizona; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday October 11, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the West View Cemetery at Cove with Brother Lance Ashmore officiating. Visitation will be general at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Carolyn Gem Standridge
December 17, 1947 - December 12, 2014
Carolyn Gem Standridge, age 66, of Mena, Arkansas died Friday, December 12, 2014 in Mena. She was born on Wednesday, December 17, 1947 to Marvin Thomas and Hester Ann Walston in Mena, Arkansas.
Carolyn lived her life loving the Lord, family and others; she especially loved her grand children. She enjoyed the outdoors; spending her summers camping and going fishing. Carolyn worked many years as a nurse’s aid working at the old hospital to working at both nursing homes her in Mena. Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Matt Smith and two sisters, two sisters, Robbie Mindl and Sue Shaw.
Survivors include her companion for over 20 years, Dennis Owens of Mena; her son and daughter in law, Johnathan and Monica Smith of Acorn; one brother, Johnathan Smith of Rocky; two grandchildren, Joshua and Nathan Smith of Acorn; one great granddaughter, Ezabella Smith of Acorn; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside memorial service will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Brother Roger Bishop officiating. Services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
Pat "Granny" Eden
April 20, 1932 - October 25, 2014
Pat “Granny” Eden, age 82 of Mena, moved from her earthly home to her new home in Heaven on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Mena. She was born on Wednesday, April 20, 1932 to Mack C. and Mary Rhoden Travis in Huntington, West Virginia.
Pat had a servant’s heart; either at church, with family or friends and her workplace. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mena for many years and served her Lord with all her heart. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In her early years Pat was an LPN in Louisiana and later moved to Mena where her beloved Fred was a minister of the Gospel and minister’s wife. She later started working at Wal-Mart and retired after many years. After Wal-Mart, she found a place at Hall Funeral Service where she could minister to families in their time of need. In 2012, she retired from working at age 80. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Eden; three brothers; six sisters and one great grandchild, Fred Isaac Sprague.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in law Michael and Cordia Sprague of Mena and Will and Vickie Sprague of Black Springs; her daughters and sons in law, Chrystal and Minis Rowe of Huntington, West Virginia and Shelia and Pete of Huntington, West Virginia; one sister, Elizabeth Perry of Clearwater, Florida; ten grandchildren, Travis Sprague and wife, Rebecca of Mena, Jennifer Asbury and husband, Blair of Huntington, West Virginia, Lisa Bowen of Huntington, West Virginia, Barbara Sprague of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dana Long and husband, Mike of Mena, Jennifer Kanak and husband Jason of Lowell, Arkansas, Rachel Adkins of Huntington, West Virginia, Pam Moore of St. Albans West Virginia, John LeMaster of Georgia and Jason LeMaster of Huntington, West Virginia; twenty-six great grandchildren; two very special friends, M.L. Keeney and family of Cove and Betty Bishop of Louisiana; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Donnie Jewell, Brother Larry Davis and Jerry Jeffcoat officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, October 27, 2014 from 5-7 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Michael Sprague, Travis Sprague, Minis Rowe, Bobby Thacker, Espye Magar and Tim Smedley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chip Bentley, Chris Gann, Kenney Romine, Troy Denton and Donnie Barrett.
Lela Lavena Rackley
July 21, 1932 - December 5, 2014
Lela Lavena Rackley, age 82, of Mena, died Friday, December 5, 2014 at her home in Mena. She was born on Thursday, July 21, 1932 to Robert and Neomia Thomas Sykes in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Lavena graduated from Hartman High School as valedictorian and received her Associates of Arts Degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. After college she marriage James Rackley on April 7, 1950 and was marriage for 61 years. She worked for Civil Service for 2 years in San Francisco, California. After moving to Mena, Lavena worked 30 years as the Polk County Municipal Court Clerk. She was very active in many different volunteer programs and enjoyed going to the beach, doing water aerobics in the swimming pool, dancing, her dogs, cooking lunch for family and friends; a fantastic coach's wife and spent many years going to ball games. Lavena was a member of First Baptist Church of Mena for over 50 years and was a member of the Esther Sunday school class. Lavena was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Rackley Sr., her brother, Charles Sykes.
Survivors include her son, James Rackley Jr. and wife, Lisa of Mena; two daughters, Marilyn Davenport and husband John of Mena and Patti Moran of Mena; three sisters, Alice Hood of Fort Smith, Frances Loyd of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ruby Martin of Lamesa, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kelly Davenport Wallaert of Austin, Texas, Lindsey Davenport French of Conway, John Alan Davenport of Conway, Crystal Rackley of Mena, Chase Rackley of Fort Smith, Neil Moran of Mena and Laura Moran of Conway; two great grandsons, Jack Wallaert and James Wallaert both of Austin, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Monday, December 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. Lance Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Crest Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. in the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Neil Moran, Chase Rackley, John Alan Davenport, Brad French, Jerry Ryan and Gary Ryan.
