Leslie Ross Dollar I am a Veteran.
April 6, 1923 - September 10, 2015

Leslie Ross Dollar, age 92, of Pine Ridge, Arkansas died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Montgomery County Nursing Home. He was born on Friday, April 6, 1923 to Roy Ernest and Stella Pearl Allen Dollar in Huron, Texas.

Leslie served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II for 3 years and was honorably discharged. Leslie was a great provider for his family and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He worked many years as a mechanic and was a partner in D&H; Garage in Mena in the 1960’s. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, horseback riding, playing cards and dominoes. Leslie was a member of the Northside Church of Christ for many years. Leslie was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrna Roberta Dollar; three brothers, Earl, Horace, and Charles Dollar; six sisters, Bertha Dollar, Verna Roberts, Alzena Armstrong, Alene Whinery, Mary Ruth Jenkins Armstrong and Annette Swan Whitworth.

Leslie is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Kathy Dollar of Pine Ridge and Alton and Betty Dollar of Pine Ridge; four grandchildren, Toy Adams and husband, Neil of Pine Ridge, Dusty Dollar of Pine Ridge, Rex Dollar and wife, Amy of Pine Ridge and Ricky Dollar and wife, Darcy of Yocana; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Northside Church of Christ in Mena with Ken Sayers officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Pallbearers will be Rex Dollar, Ricky Dollar, Dusty Dollar, Neil Adams, Dennis Lott and Billy McClain.

Willis "Dick" Dean Staggs I am a Veteran.
April 17, 1933 - September 2, 2015

Willis “Dick” Dean Staggs, age 82, of Mena, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Waldron Nursing Center in Waldron, Arkansas. He was born on Monday, April 17, 1933 to Edd and Nellie Margaret Richey Staggs in Black Fork, Arkansas.

Dick loved the Lord and served him with all his heart. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting. He worked 29 years at US Motors before his retirement. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Dick was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy Staggs; one son, Robert Staggs; two brothers, Wayne Staggs and Eddie Staggs and his brother in law, Glen Cole and sister in law, Mary Staggs.

Dick is survived by his three sons; Scott Cloutier of San Juan Bautista, California, Ronald Staggs of Mena and Chris Staggs of Mena; one daughter and son in law, Debbie and Dale Loyd of Mena; two sisters and brother in law, Wanda Cole of Fort Smith and Betty and Ralph Wiles of Mena; seven grandchildren, Scott Skaggs, Eric Cross, Cody Fletcher, Christopher Staggs, Austin Staggs, Erica Roles and Charles Roles; one great granddaughter, Jayda Staggs; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Beauchamp, Arkansas with Brother Charles (Chuck) Holmes. Visitation will be general. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Pallbearers will be Ron Staggs, Eddie Staggs, Dale Loyd, Tommy Podgornik, Jonathan Lunsford, and Charles Roles. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Massengill, Mike Cole, Ralph Wiles Jr., Stewart Staggs and Clay Staggs.

Roy William Monfore Jr. I am a Veteran.
April 25, 1921 - August 27, 2015

Roy William Monfore, Jr., 94, of Mena, Arkansas, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving children. He was born on April 25, 1921 to Roy William Monfore, Sr. and Eula Moore Monfore in Jenks, Oklahoma.

Roy served his country during World War II from 1939 to 1945 in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and European Theaters and received an honorable discharge. He served God all of this adult life by a gentle and quiet witness and as a faithful church member, Sunday school teacher, and bus driver. He served his family by being a godly father to his children and a faithful husband to his wife. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Grace Monfore; one brother, Dolph Monfore; sister, Doris Dodge; and one grandson, Keelan Monfore.

Roy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lynn Monfore of Sulphur, Louisiana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dennis Phillips of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Janet and Roger Fryar of Russellville, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Salem Baptist Church in Nunley, Arkansas, with Reverend Jack Schoeppey officiating. Interment will follow at the Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Mena, Arkansas, under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will precede the service on Saturday from 9-11 AM at Salem Baptist Church in Nunley.

Pallbearers will be Mike Fryar, Steve Fryar, Chad Taylor, John Haddock, Mike Hays, and Tommy Fowler. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Rousseau and Al Marx.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church, 115 Polk 56, Mena, Arkansas, 71953.

Amanda "Mandy" Lee Bissell Watts
November 28, 1977 - September 21, 2015

Amanda "Mandy" Lee Bissell Watts, age 37, of Fort Smith, formerly of Mena, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Peachtree Hospice in Fort Smith. She was born on Monday, November 28, 1977 to Samuel Leon and Belinda Lee (Thomas) Bissell in Mena, Arkansas.

Mandy was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was very kind hearted and got along with everyone she met. She went to Acorn High school until she was 17, and then got her GED, but throughout school she was in the Gifted and Talented program. Her favorite past times included hanging out with her friends and family, listening to music, riding motorcycles, and enjoying the night sky. She spent a lot of time reading when she was younger, and also loved animals; cats, not so much.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sam Bissell and Naomi (Bissell) Self; maternal grandparents, William and Betty Thomas; aunt, Pam (Thomas) Wise, and her cousins, B.J. Thomas and Allen Harper, also by her sister in law Cecilia "CC" Bissell.

Mandy is survived by her parents, Sammy and Belinda Bissell of Acorn; her grandma Sue Bissell; her daughter, Morgan (Bissell) McAdams of White Hall; son, Andrew Watts of Mena; brother, Samuel "Basil" Bissell Jr. of Mena; her niece, Brooklyn Bissell of Talihina, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law Shanna Bissell of Mena; and a host of other relatives and friends

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Chapel with Brother Victor Rowell officiating. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

Arthur Gene Smith I am a Veteran.
December 5, 1953 - August 30, 2015

Arthur Gene Smith, age 61, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas formerly of Mena, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 in his home. He was born on Saturday, December 5, 1953 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Claude Vernon Smith and the late Bessie Mae Holmes Smith.

He was employed at the Department of Defense as a Quality Assurance Specialist while serving as Union President for AFGE. He served in the United States Air Force as a weapons mechanic. His favorite position was being a Pastor where he ministered at Two Mile Church of Christ in Muse, Oklahoma and in recent years he gave his heart to everyone at the Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He enjoyed landscaping and spending time with his family. Art will be dearly missed by the many, many lives he touched as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a dear friend.

He is preceded him in death by his parents, Claude and Bessie Smith, and sister, Joyce Fryar.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Smith of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, two daughters, and one son, Shauna Humphreys and husband, Steven of Whitesboro, Oklahoma, Olivia Smith and Dwight Wilson of Springdale, Arkansas, Jordan Smith and wife, Morgan of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; five grandsons, Tallyn, Takota, Traver, Tekiah, and Keaton; two sisters, and one brother, Twyana Bohn of Branson, Missouri, Brenda Blackwood of Mena, Arkansas, and Rickey Smith of Booneville, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jordan Smith and Reverend Brad Redding officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Paula Ann Sutherland
August 31, 1941 - September 14, 2015

Paula Ann Sutherland, age 74, of Mena, formerly of Dallas, Texas, died Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Mena Manor. She was born on Friday, August 31, 1941 to Dulan Jackson and Iva Mildred Brown Andress in Abilene, Texas.

In 1959, Paula graduated from Hamlin High School and marriage Billy Bush Sutherland on January 18, 1959. She worked many years in the oil industry as office manager with Hunt Oil Company in Dallas, Texas. After her retirement, she moved to Mena and became a Foster Grandparent at Dallas Avenue Baptist Church in the nursery. She loved children because they brought to her great joy. Paula was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Sutherland.

Paula is survived by her son and his partner, Sean Sutherland and Pam D’azzo of Carrollton, Texas; one daughter and son in law, Stephanie and Michael Murr of Mena; brother and sister in law, Toby and Kathy McLaughlin of New Waverly, Texas; four grandchildren, William Sutherland and Sophia Sutherland both of Lewisville, Texas and Jonathan and Rachal Murr of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Bible Church in Mena with Dr. Lamar Austin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena. Interment will be Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with Dr. Walter Fletcher officiating under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Oaks, Mena Manor, and Ouachita Hospice for the kindness and support during the family’s time of need.
