Susan Kay Bowen

Susan Kay Bowen, age 55, of Smithville, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 in Ft. Smith.
She was born July 3, 1956 in Camden, Arkansas to Maurice Primm and the late Shirley Ann Hackler Primm. She was united in marriage to William E. Bowen on April 12, 1980. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Octavia Baptist Church. Mrs. Bowen got the most out of life, and loved cooking, fishing and riding four wheelers. Her biggest joy, however, was spoiling her grandkids, who, along with the rest of her family, will miss her every day.

Father: Maurice Primm of Mena, Arkansas
Sisters: Diane Smith of Ft. Smith, Arkansas Linda Rowe of Mena, Arkansas
Aunt: Pat Post of Kingsland, Arkansas
Uncles: Larry Primm of Maumelle, Arkansas Jerry Hackler of Shreveport, Louisiana
Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Ann Hackler Primm.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Octavia Baptist Church with Brother Ed Rogers officiating. Interment follows in Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Ruby L. Williams
(July 30, 1924 - June 24, 2012)
Ruby L. Williams, age 87, of Hatfield, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Mena.
She was born July 30, 1924 in Hatfield, Arkansas to the late James B. Williams and the late Bess Stevens Williams. She was a postal clerk at the Hatfield Post Office for 47 years and was a member of the Hatfield First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a loving cousin and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by:

Numerous other cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bess Williams.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hatfield First Baptist Church with Brother Scott O’Rear officiating. Interment follows in Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, June 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ella Maxine Slagle
(January 30, 1919 - July 1, 2012)
Ella Maxine Slagle, age 93, of Y-City, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Mena.
She was born January 30, 1919 in Boles, Arkansas to the late Arthur Keener and the late Frona Gibson Keener. She was united in marriage to the late Buster Laird until his passing and then to the late Ace Slagle. She was a nursing home cook and was a loving sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by:
Brothers: Hershel Keener of Seattle, Washington Dale Keener of Y-City, Arkansas
Sister: Nola Fay Chatham of Mena, Arkansas
Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Frona Keener, her husbands, Buster Laird and Ace Slagle, brothers Leo and Thurman Keener, and sisters, Lessie Slagle, Buena Fisher, Marie Jennings, and Minnie Bates.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness at Waldron with Elder Charles Maxwell officiating. Interment follows in Chant Cemetery at Y-City under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Honorary pallbearer is Darrell Cole.
Buna Hortense Golden McKee

Hortense Golden McKee, age 87, of Mena, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her home.
She was born April 18, 1925 in Athens, Arkansas to the late James Wesley Golden and the late Willie Anna Ralls Golden. She was united in marriage to the late J.C. McKee. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. McKee was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

McKee, 2 sons, Kenny McKee and an infant son, 3 brothers, Calvin, Eldus, and Leslie Golden, 6 sisters, Ruby Yell, Annie Aleshire, Elvie Miller, Jesse Marsh, Estelle Ralls and Idene Nelson, and a great-granddaughter, Ava McKee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mena Church of God with Brother Lamar Austin and Brother Mark Lyle officiating. Interment follows in Athens Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening, July 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ray Hunter, Pat Bates, Cory Allen, Jason McKee, Justin McKee, and Jay McKee.
Edith Anderson

Edith Anderson, age 96, Mena, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was born March 04, 1916 in Black Springs, Arkansas to the late William J. Head and the late Celora Lance Head. Edith was married to the late Shelby Anderson and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mena and Norman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by:
Son: James Anderson of Greenville, Texas
Daughter: Jan Hale of Mena, Arkansas
Six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Anderson and parents, William J. and Celora Head.
Graveside services will be Thursday, June 14, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at Cox-Head Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas with Reverend Joe Head officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
