Lillie Mae Toon
(May 3, 1922 - April 27, 2012)

Lillie Mae Toon, age 89, of Watson, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 in Watson.

She was born May 03, 1922 in Watson, Oklahoma to the late Fred Keiss and the late Lillie Reid Keiss. Lillie was united in marriage September 23, 1939 to Hershell Toon in Mena, Arkansas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her and loved her. She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by:

Sons: Charles Toon of Watson, Oklahoma Arla Toon and wife Diana of Watson, Oklahoma Ivan Toon and wife Ann of Watson, Oklahoma Leon Toon of Overland Park, Kansas

Daughter: Betty Genice Allen of Mena, Arkansas

22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershell Toon, parents, Fred and Lillie Keiss, five brothers, four sisters and grandsons, Kenney Toon, Dennis Vaught, and Martin Toon.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 30, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Sulpher Springs Baptist Church in Watson with Brother Vic Anglin officiating. Interment will follow at the Watson Cemetery in Watson, Oklahoma under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

General Visitation

Pallbearers will include her grandsons, Regan Toon, Mitchell Vaught, Darrin Toon, Kevin Toon, Brent Toon, Brian Toon, Dale Bacorn, Joseph Toon, Robert Toon, Clay Toon, and Matthew Toon.

R. Frances Huffman
(January 3, 1917 - April 27, 2012)

R. Frances Huffman, age 95, of Mena, Arkansas and Dorris, California passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 in Mena.

She was born on January 03, 1917 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the late James Henry Hands and the late Fanny Elizabeth Swinney Hands. Frances was married to the late Layton E. Huffman and was a cook in the Food Industry. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by:

Daughters: Betty Gollihar of Tracy, California Doris L. Bryant of Mena, Arkansas Bonnie L. Rasdal of Dorris, California

Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Picard Cemetery in Dorris, California. Arrangements were made under Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena

Beatrice Longowa
(September 11, 1932 - April 30, 2012)

Beatrice Selma Auwaerter Longowa, age 79, of Mena, Arkansas, formerly of Huntington Beach, California, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at her home.

She was born September 17, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John Roy Auwaerter and the late Lillian Martha Wiesfuss Auwaerter. She was of the Lutheran faith and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by:

Daughters: Barbara Lilllian Filarey of Huntington Beach, California Sandra Lee Miller of Mena, Arkansas

Sister: Beverly Lawrence of Custer, Washington

Grandchildren: Tony John Dutra of Riverside, California Gregory Lee Dutra of Riverside, California Cody Floyd McLain of Mena, Arkansas Jason Race Filarey of Huntington Beach, California Sarah Filarey of Huntington Beach, California

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Auwaerter and by 3 sisters, Lori Madgwick, Violet Kenny, and Barbara Auwaerter.

Services for Mrs. Longowa will be conducted at a later time in Cypress, California. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Dorothy "Cricket" Elfreda Strothers Wilhite
(December 7, 1933 - April 30, 2012)

Dorothy “Cricket” Elfreda Strothers Wilhite, age 78 of Acorn, Arkansas, passed away April 30, 2012 at her home.

She was born December 7, 1933 in Polk County, Arkansas to the late Joe A Strothers and the late May M. Singleton Strothers. She was united in marriage to the late Dale D. Wilhite. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith, and worked for 18 years in the Acorn School Cafeteria. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by:

Sons: Larry Wilhite of Acorn, Arkansas Dennis Wilhite and wife Paula of Acorn, Arkansas Tony Wilhite and wife Nancy of Acorn, Arkansas

Daughters: Debra Bass and husband J.B. of Posey Hollow, Arkansas Connie Bass and husband Steve of Acorn, Arkansas

Sister: Maydean Lunsford of Cove, Arkansas

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and May Strothers, her husband, Dale D. Wilhite, a daughter, Laura Renea Wilhite, and 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Roy Bass and Brother Roger Bishop officiating. Interment follows in Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, May 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Van Lynn Holman, Korie Wilhite, Justin Rodgers, Dal White, Steve Bass, and J.B. Bass.

Lonnie L. Simpson
(February 20, 1924 - May 4, 2012)

Lonnie L. Simpson, age 88, of Mena passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home.

He was born February 20, 1924 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas to the late Robert William Simpson and the late Sarah M. Fryar Simpson. He was united in marriage to the late Mary “Gertrude” Simpson. Mr. Simpson served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Mt. View Methodist Church. He loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest love was his family. Mr. Simpson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Survivors are:

Son: Gary Simpson and wife Julia of Gurdon, Arkansas

Daughter: Lora Jane Campbell and husband Arlyn of Red Oak, Texas

Grandchildren: Wendy Maxwell of Arkadelphia, Arkansas Darren Simpson of Gurdon, Arkansas Clint Campbell of Coppell, Texas Clay Campbell of Lewisville, Texas Crystal Carroum of Dallas, Texas

Great Grandsons: Corey Welch, Dillon Maxwell, Rylee Maxwell, Dustin Simpson, Devin Simpson, C.J. Campbell, Josh Campbell, Owen Campbell, Jacob Campbell, and Lucas Campbell

Great-Great Granddaughter: Ava Welch

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert William and Sarah M. Simpson, and his wife, Mary “Gertrude” Simpson.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Brian Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Darren Simpson, Clint Campbell, Clay Campbell, David Maxwell, Dustin Simpson, Dillon Maxwell, Rylee Maxwell, Cory Welch and Devin Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Simpson’s 10 great-grandsons.

Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
