Michael Blaine Holbrook
(April 5, 1960 - March 24, 2012)

Michael Blaine Holbrook, age 51, of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Mineral Springs.

He was born April 5, 1960 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to the late Omer Russell Holbrook and the late Nora C. Ward. He was a fork lift operator for Missions Plastic Company in Nashville, Arkansas and was a loving brother, uncle, companion and a great friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his fiancé and better half,

Rhonda Roach of Mineral Springs, Arkansas

Brothers: Jerry R. Holbrook of Mayflower, Arkansas Ronald Holbrook of Sherwood, Arkansas

Uncle and Aunt: Ray and Marla Ward of Idaho Falls, Idaho

Nieces: Rhonda West of North Little Rock, Arkansas Brandy Patterson of Nash, Texas Candy Graham of Fauke, Arkansas

Sister-in-Law: Sherry Patterson of Nash, Texas

Special Friend: Joyce of Texarkana, Arkansas

Several great nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Nora Holbrook, a grandmother, Minnie Hall, and a brother, Roland Patterson.

Mr. Holbrook was sent for cremation for under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial re-birth party will be held Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cotton Shed Pavilion at the Cottonshed Landing in Mineral Springs with Brother Roger Bishop and James Marshall officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Everett Wayne Taylor
(March 25, 1928 - March 29, 2012)

Everett Wayne Taylor, age 84, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Talihina, Oklahoma.

He was born March 25, 1928 in Summerville, Texas to the late James Claud Taylor and the late Offie Lee Cobb Taylor. He was united in marriage to the late Beatrice Davis. He was a Radio and T.V. Repairman, and was also owner and operator of Southside Glass, and Taylor’s Secondhand Store, both in Mena. Mr. Taylor was also a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, and also the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He loved to fly and was a member of the Confederate Air Force Organization. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend and will be remembered fondly by his family who loved him.

He is survived by:

Daughter: Sheila Taylor and husband Neil of Mena, Arkansas

Brother: Charlie Taylor of Mena, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Steven Allen Taylor and wife Leah of Potter, Arkansas Tandi Leigh Taylor and Nathan Wolfenbarger of Fayetteville, Arkansas

2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Offie Cobb and his wife Beatrice Taylor.

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Lloyd Allen Taylor and Brother James Spradlin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general. Military honors rendered by Veterans Organizations of Polk County.

Doris Holland Smith
(November 1, 1931 - March 23, 2012)

Mrs. Doris Holland Smith, age 80, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 in Mena.

She was born November 1, 1931 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas, to the late Willie F. Holland and the late Mary Gladys Alverson Holland. She was a waitress for 33 years in the food industry and was a member of the Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and a dear friend to all she met and will be missed by many.

She is survived by

Sons: George Lee Coran and wife Barbara of Tucson, Arizona Jimmy Odell Coran and wife Judy of Benson, Arizona Billy Ray Coran and wife Degna of Mesa, Arizona Jerry Dean Coran of Mesa, Arizona

Daughters: Gladys Dell Scott of Muldrow, Oklahoma Rosetta Elaine Harbour and husband Michael of Tucson, Arizona

Brothers: Ervin Holland and wife Mary of Starke, Florida Billy Joe Holland and wife Mary of Aurora, Colorado

Sisters: Myrtle Cox of Miami, Oklahoma Rosalee Dilbeck of Carthage, Missouri Verlon Pressley and husband Alvie of DeQueen, Arkansas Ruby Henry and husband Carl of North Little Rock, Arkansas Linda Rosson and husband Hollis of Mena, Arkansas Carolyn Jones and husband Billy of Mena, Arkansas

Close Friend: Rip Van Winkle of Mena, Arkansas

10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, A.T. Smith, and by her parents, Mary and Willie Holland.

Mrs. Smith was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mena Church of God with Brother Mark Lyle officiating.

Chester G. Starr
(July 12, 1917 - January 18, 2012)

Mr. Chester G. Starr, age 94, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 In Mena.

He was born July 12, 1917 in Schoolton, Oklahoma to the late John W. Starr and the late Ora Johnson Starr. He was united in marriage to Geneva Thomas. He was a aircraft testing technician on Tinker Air Force Base and was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Starr was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and especially enjoyed spoiling his beloved poodles, Bo and Princess. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by:

Wife: Geneva Starr of Mena, Arkansas

Sons: Allen Starr and wife Brenda of Mena, Arkansas Norris Starr and wife Ruth of Mena, Arkansas Charles Starr and wife Wynona of Mena, Arkansas

Brother: Hudson Starr of Roswell, New Mexico

11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ora Starr, and by a daughter, Glenna Wilson, and his first wife, Gracie Mullinicks Starr.

Graveside services will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Cemetery with Brother Ron Tilley and Brother Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, January 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great-great-grandchildren: Colten Philpot, Caysen Morgan, Abree Goodner, Ezabella Smith, Austin and Dawson Davis and Trinity And Rayven Wislon.
