Stanley Bassler, IV

Stanley Harrison "Tobby" Bassler, IV of Magazine, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.

He was a tileman for Watt Tile Service of Paris, a high school graduate and a Roman Catholic.

Memorial service was in charge of the family at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Booneville. Cremation was under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Darlene (West) Jorden of Magazine; father, Stanley H. Bassler, III of Lebanon, Tenn.; grandparents, Bob and Wanda West of Magazine, and Stanley and Patricia Bassler of Magazine; great-grandmother, Mercedes Bessler of Pittsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Latasha Marie Bassler of Spiro, Okla., and Nicole Jorden of Booneville; two brothers, Christopher John Bassler of Magazine, and Joshua Tyler Bassler of Lebanon, Tenn.

Mary L. Finney

Mary L. Finney, 59, of Paris, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 in Paris.

She was a home health aide with the Logan County Health Department. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Flora Ann (Simpson) Bates and two brothers, Leonard and Glen Bates.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Lighthouse Worship Center in Paris with burial in Gray Rock Cemetery, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Survivors include: three sons, Stanley Bates of Fayetteville, Leon Cummins of Atkins and Anthony Cummins of Charleston; three daughters, Mary Jo Finney, Beverly Carol Finney and Danielle Marie Ellingburg of Paris; two brothers, Robert and Timmy Bates of Gray Rock; eight sisters, Lois Thompson and Carolyn Lewis, both of Gray Rock, Glenda Bates, Vanessa Ellingburg, Ester Bates and Joanna Bates, all of Paris, Peggy Howard of Finley, Ohio, Theresa Bates of Peoria, Ill., Veronica Galzalmez and Karen Bates, both of Fort Smith; and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Robert Bates, Jack Lewis, Freddie Thompson, Shawn Bates, Jason Ellingburg and Rob Poole.

Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Bates, Leon Cummins, Anthony Cummins and Paul Cooper.

Hazel Mantooth

Hazel I. Mantooth, 97, of Paris, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 in Fort Smith.

She was a retired school teacher for the Paris School District and member of the First Christian Church of Paris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Clite (Costly) Mullins; her husband, Robert Joseph Mantooth and three sisters, June Wilkens, Daisy Beaubon and Elizabeth Hayes.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Paris, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Survivors include: one daughter, Frances (Mullins) Merrick, of Kellogg, Id.; one son, Robert Mantooth of Perryton, Tex.; two brothers, Irvin Mullins of Sallisaw, Okla. and Hugh Mullins of Midwest City, Okla.; one sister, Dorothy Medcalf of Purcell, Okla. six grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were friends.

Roy Mitchell

Roy S. Mitchell, 66, of Paris, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald G. Mitchell. He was the owner of Polka Poppa Auto Sales, and a veteran of the 125 Infantry Division and of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 with burial at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Mitchell of Paris; four daughters, Debbie Schluterman of Paris, Charolette MacDonald of Canterbury, Ct., Cathy Farnam of Paris, and Erica Goodson of Paris; two sons, Roy S. Mitchell Jr., and Michael Mitchell both of Paris; mother, Alice Calabrese of Florida; one sister, Carol Roberts of Southington, Ct.; two brothers, Donald C. Mitchell of Hartford, Ct., and Douglas Mitchell of Southington, Ct.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Farnam, Warren MacDonald, Jody Goodson, Jeff Murray, Hershel Sloan, Mike Snyder, and Mike Kelly.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Robert Neal Herndon, Sr.

Robert Neal Herndon, Sr., who resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Paris. He was born August 17, 1924 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Jachin Herndon and Nanny Ola (Taylor) Herndon. He was almost 91 years old. He was also preceded in death by two spouses, Jimmie Mae (Ford) Herndon and Norma Herndon; one daughter, Beneta Williams; one sister, Era Ola Buchanan; three brothers, James, Floyd, and Noel Herndon; one grandson, Timothy Herndon; and one great-grandson, Gavin Catoe.

Robert was a retired farmer and attended First Assembly of God in Paris.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11th, at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulskville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Kenny Maness.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Neal Herndon, Jr. of Paris, William Jachin Herndon of Panacea, Florida, and Harley Herndon and wife Patsy of Paris; (13) grandchildren, (15) great-grandchildren, and (8) great-great grandchildren.

Sherri Jones

Sherri Viola Jones, 54 of Paris, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 in a Little Rock Hospital. She was a homemaker; she lived most of her life here in this area; she was a graduate of Lavaca High School and attended Westark Jr. College. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval Elvis and Virginia Rose (Baskin) Thomas.

Family held memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday July 3, 2015 at Crestview Baptist Church in Midway; Arrangement and cremation under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

She is survived by two daughters, Micah Frederick and husband, Jason of Scranton, Georgia Castling and husband, Gordon of Fort Smith; one son, Daxton Jones of Ozark; one brother, Larry Thomas of Granada Hills, CA; six grandchildren, Austin, Preslee, Maggie, Mackinzie, Kage and Colby; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
