Jerry Varnell
Jerry L. Varnell, 54, of Paris, died on Saturday, July 31, 2004 in Clarksville.
He was born on June 22, 1950 in Midway.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Nettie and Lee Varnell.
He was a car salesman and of the Assembly of God Faith.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Midway Assembly of God Church with burial held at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Midway under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Lavaca.
He is survived by one son, Jerald Varnell of Charleston; his step-father, William Wimberly of Paris; four brothers, Curtis, Darrell, Larry and Danny Varnell all of Subiaco; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Curtis James Varnell, Mark Varnell, Randal Varnell, Eddie Varnell, Johnny Gattis, Dustin Ezell, Rick Varnell and Justin Varnell.
Jimmy Beason
Jimmy Leon Benson, 56, of Paris, died Saturday, March 23, 2002.
He was a Christian.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 26, at McKendree Cemetery north of Subiaco under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his mother, Tina Benson of Paris; two sons, Billy Benson of Greenwood, and James Benson of Corinth, Tex.; one brother, Doyle Benson of Paris; one sister, Martha Bradley of Paris; and one grandchild.
Pauline Sutton
Pauline Akins Sutton, 87, of Paris, formerly of Van Buren, died Friday, July 5, 2002.
She was a homemaker and a member of RSVP, the First Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren and the Crawford County Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Pope of St. Louis and Paula Sharp of Paris; five sons, Jerry and David Akins, both of Tishamingo, Okla., Donald Akins of Houston, Larry Akins of Van Buren and Roger Akins of Russellville; a brother, Lonnie Allen of Cement, Okla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held July 8 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren.
Burial and committal was held at Corley Mountain Cemetery in Paris.
Pallbearers were Johnny Blamey and John Lewis Blamey, Danny Long and D.C. Sharp.
Dianne Phillips
Radnia Dianne Spicer Phillips, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister departed from us on Monday, June 28, 2004, in Paris at the age of 45.
She was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Paris to C.W. Spicer and Radnia Dooley Spicer.
She was a nurse’s aide at Turner Memorial Hospital in Ozark, and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Crossroads.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Radnia Spicer, and a sister, Marilyn Spicer.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial followed at McKendree Cemetery north of Subiaco under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, Luke Phillips of the home; her father, C.W. Spicer of Paris; two daughters, Rene Phillips of Clarksville and Anita Phillips of Paris; one sister, Marsha and husband Jimmie Mitchell of Paris; one brother, James Spicer and wife Norma of Paris; one grandson, Mason Phillips; her mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Leo Frustenberg of Paris; three nieces, Sasha Mitchell, Ashley Spicer and Tracey Spicer, all of Paris.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Don, David and Stanley Spicer, Patrick Schluterman, Gerald and Donnie Forst.
Tommy Johnson
Tommy Johnson resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, in his home.
He was born August 19, 1945 in Paris to Manuel L. Johnson and Ruth A. Miller Johnson.
He was 63 years old.
Clara Gill
Clara Bell Gill, 88, of Booneville, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at a Ozark hospital.
She was a homemaker, a member and Sunday school teacher at Union Hope Baptist Church in Tate and the Home Demonstration Club.
She is survived by her husband, James; a daughter, Mary Ann Taylor of Mulberry; a son, Jerry Don Gill of Alma; three sisters, Bertha Preston of Booneville, Ruth Pierce of Reedly Calif., and Dolly Skinner of Palmdale, Calif.; a brother, Robert Wilson of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Oct. 23 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Taylor Cemetery in Tate.
Pallbearers were Bucky Brigance, Neat Preston, Dale, Delbert, Omer and Dr. R. Lane Wilson.
