Donald J. Morton

Mr. Donald J. Morton, 81, of Ozark, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 8 in a Fort Smith Hospital. He was a retired self-employed Home Repairman and was also a member of the Altus-Ozark Chapter of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles.

Mr. Morton is survived by his wife Marjorie of the home, 2 daughters; Lorraine Haydon of Indianapolis, IN, Carol Michaelson of Orinda, CA, a stepdaughter Diana Wilson of Ozark, AR, 4 sons; Darrell Morton, Joe Morton, of Page, AZ, David Morton of Greencastle, IN, Aaron Jones of Edmond, OK and a stepson; Michael Royal of Ozark, AR. His mother; Allie Highers of Henderson, TN, two stepbrothers; Alan and David Highers both of Henderson, TN, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Saturday, February 12th at the home of Diana Wilson in Ozark.

No funeral services are scheduled and there will be no public viewing. Mr. Morton will be cremated and his ashes will be interred at Highland Cemetery in Ozark, AR under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.

Ruth Davis

Ruth Davis, 88, of Cecil, died Sunday, November 17, 2002 in Charleston. She was a member of Cecil United Methodist Church, a housewife and a homemaker. She was born June 11, 1914 at McFall, Alabama to Robert Lee Reeves and Eliza Ann Stine Reeves.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am November 20, 2002 at Cecil United Methodist Church with burial at Cecil Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.

She is survived by three daughters, Patsy White and Nancy Martin both of Cecil, and Janie Heffley of Branch; four grandchildren, Matthew Martin, Todd Martin, Stephanie Carson, and Ryan Heffley; and one great-grandchild.

The pallbearers attending are Billy Hall Andrews, Waymon Barton, D.C. Holden, Mike Casto, Bradley Reeves, and Jerry Banning. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday night at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cecil United Methodist Church %3214 Eubanks Rd., Cecil, AR 72930.

Jackie Andrews

Jackie Andrews, 77, of Cecil, died on Thursday, January 22, 2004 in her home. She was born on October 23, 1927 in Bakersfield, California to Ammon J. and Pearl Harris Caughey. She was a housewife and a member of the Cecil Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, G.L. Andrews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2003 at the Cecil Methodist Church with Rev. Vern Wilson officiating. Burial followed at the Cecil Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary Inc. of Charleston.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Hall Andrews; three daughters, Donna Lowrey, Lynda Molton and Sandy Blevins all of Cecil; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chaun and Heath Molton, Benny and Marty Lowrey, Don Sosebee and Dalton Tatro.

Honorary pallbearers were Gunnar Molton, Paul, Bobby and Norman Franklin, Larry Watts, Ronnie Askins, William Alongi, Todd Patterson, Mike Casey, Sherill Rich, Dempsey White, Dan and Doug Barr, David Powell and Don Armstrong.

Clayton Bonner

Clayton Bonner, 82, of Charleston died on Saturday, January 24, 2004 in his residence. He was born on March 24, 1921 in Franklin County to John Edward Bonner and Irene Pendergrass Bonner. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a retired cattle farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Mae Haynes Bonner.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2004 at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.

He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Layton of Starkville, MS and Beverly Hawks of Fremont, CA; and five grandchildren.

Margaret Schmitz

Margaret Schmitz, 92, of Charleston died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Charleston. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston and St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Schmitz; and one son, James Leo Schmitz.

Rosary service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton with burial at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose Anna and husband Lewis Dunn of Fort Smith; two sons, Wilfred George Schmitz of Charleston and Robert Joseph and wife Dorothy Schmitz of Stroud, Okla.; three sisters, Lucille Pfeiffer of Paris, Geneva Lasiter of Fort Smith and Dorothy Seville of Ballwin, Mo.; a brother, Johnny Spellins of Subiaco; nine grandchildren, Alan and Randy Schmitz of Tulsa, Okla., Debbye Johns of Moore, Okla., Patty Miller of Stroud, Susie Harrison of New Braunfels, Texas, Nancy Smith of Fort Smith and Dr. James, Gary and Scott Schmitz, all of Charleston; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Greenhurst Family Council, Greenhurst Nursing Home, P.O. Box 458, Charleston, AR 72933.

John Pemberton

John Paul Pemberton, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born August 4, 1940 in Vian, Oklahoma to the late John Ira Pemberton and Ocie (Martin) Pemberton. He was 75 years old.

John was a retired truck driver for G T Transportation Services in Van Buren. He was an U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

Memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ena (Boyd) Pemberton; two daughters, Teresa and husband Dr. Bill Burt of Springdale and Carmen Owens of Charleston; one son, Michael Wayne Pemberton and wife Amanda of Cedarville; (14) grandchildren and (9) great-grandchildren.

J.D. Rambo

J.D. Rambo, 91, of Charleston, AR passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Charleston. He was born August 29, 1923 in Charleston to John D. Rambo and Millie Belle Putnam Rambo. He was US Army veteran; retired sales manager for Quality Auto Parts in Charleston, worked for Aiglan Diesel and Wilkerson Diesel in Oklahoma, was a member of Moore Lodge #539 and Grand Lodge of Oklahoma & AF&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mildred Hogan Rambo.

Service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 10th, 2015 at Smith Mortuary Chapel with interment at Garden of Memories under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

He is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Cauldwell, Charlotte Adams, Shirley Marshall and Jo Ann Taylor; two sons David Rambo and Jim Hogan; 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren and his beloved Cat “Buddy”.

Pall Bearers will be Grandsons: Kevin, Craig and Terry Cauldwell, Chris Marshall, Eric Rambo, Brian, Brandon, Michael and Matthew Adams, Jim & Jeff Hogan, Mark & Greg Garner.

Honorary pall bearers will be David & Chase Rice, Howard Gossett, Gary Smith, Everett Buckner, Sherman Hiatt, Michael DePaulo and Harold Mainard and Kat’s Kitchen Round Table Friends.

Memorials may be made to Sebastian County Humane Society, 3800 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, AR 72903 or to Maggie House, 1005 Second St., Charleston, AR 72933
