Alice Halloran
Alice I. Lasater Halloran, aged 85, died peacefully on August 5, 2015 in her own bed in Raleigh, North Carolina after a long struggle with heart disease. Alice was born May 9, 1930 in Charleston, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry “Tom” Lasater and Frances “Fannie” Arwood Lasater. She is predeceased by siblings Woodrow (Opal) Lasater; Marjorie (Garland) Burton, Imogene (Pete) Robertson and Clinta (Chester) Blaylock.
After graduating from Charleston High School in 1948, Alice attended Sparks Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Smith, Arkansas and received her Registered Nurse degree in 1953. Her professional career included positions at Boston Eye and Ear, Boston General Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Holmdel Convalescent Center and Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey.
Alice marriage Robert K. Halloran Jr. in 1953 while he was stationed at Fort Chaffee Arkansas.
Alice and Bob moved first to Boston then to Washington Heights in New York City and finally to Hazlet, New Jersey where the couple raised three children. She lived in the same house from 1966-2013. She remained marriage 49 years until Robert’s passing in 2002.
In her youth, Alice played basketball and was very proud of her high school team’s winning record.
While living in Hazlet for 47 years, Alice became an active member of Saint Benedict’s Church in Holmdel, NJ and a supporter of the Knights of Columbus in Matawan NJ.
Alice is survived by three children Robert Kenneth (Sharon Kathryn) Halloran, III, Alicia Ann “Betsy” (Martin) Nossov, and Regina Marie (Robert) Kolodziej; seven grandchildren Teresa Halloran Hughes, Deirdre Bridget Halloran, Caitlin Alice Halloran, Jack Thomas Kolodziej, Daniel Robert Kolodziej, Elise Marie Nossov and Maya Phoebe Xiaya Nossov and two great grandchildren Brenna Hughes and Liam Hughes. She was well loved by many nieces nephews cousins and extended family.
Funeral Mass was held at 1:00pm on Monday August 10. 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Raleigh, North Carolina. Visitation was held prior to the Mass. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keyport New, Jersey.
Billie Smith
Billie Jean Simmons Smith, 87, of Branch, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Ratcliff. She was born July 27, 1927 in Peter Pender Community to Clifton R. Simmons and Christine M. Erman Simmons. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a homemaker and artist and she was a loving daughter, sister and mother and was known for her unending kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband Cornelius R. Smith, son Stanley C. Smith, brother Joseph Ray Simmons and sister Patricia Ruth Gray.
Rosary was held on Sunday evening at Smith Mortuary Chapel with visitation following.
Funeral mass was said by her grandson Fr. Joshua Stengel at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ratcliff with interment at the US National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by three daughters Phyllis J. Oldridge, Branch; Patricia A. Stengel, Ratcliff; Jeanne M. Ramsey, Rudy; two sons James R. Smith, Barling; Donald E. Smith, Cecil; four sisters Mary Joanne Louttit of North Carolina; Betty Inez Harrison, Charleston; Rebecca Corene Hogan, CO; Marietta Lorene Miller, WI; two brothers Richard Clifton and Robert Wayne Simmons both of Fort Smith; Fourteen grandchildren; Twenty-Five Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild.
Pall Bearers will be grandsons, Ryan Oldridge, Carl Stengel, Matt Stengel, Adam Stengel, Nicholas Ramsey, Jordan Ramsey, Sean Smith and Jonathan Smith.

Loretta Hankins
Loretta S. Hankins, 60, of Cecil, died on Monday, December 27, 2004 in Cecil. She was born on October 3, 1944 in Little Rock to Homer Steed and Opal Mae Haynie Steed. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2004 at Riverdale Free Will Baptist Church with burial following at Island Cemetery northeast of Lavaca all under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, Dempsey Hankins of the home.
Pallbearers were Michael Nichols, Jessy Nichols, Bryan Nichols, Howard Smithson, Joe Long and Johnny Raines.
Floyd Harrower
Floyd G. Harrower, 60, of Charleston, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 in Charleston. He was born on November 27, 1944 in Vesta to Arthur Lee Harrower and Farrie Weese Harrower. He was a member of the Mt. View Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired General Laborer at Rheem Mfg. Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Harrower and Farrie Weese Harrower and one brother, Larry Harrower.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2004 at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial held at Parks Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary Inc. of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Harrower of the home; two daughters, Becky Ann Riechmann and Christy Gail Shaver both of Charleston; four sisters, Sue Bradley, Vera Magby, Wilma Wall and Velta McCoy all of Branch; three brothers, Raymond, Jay and Cecil Harrower all of Charleston; and four grandchildren, Brandi, Breanna and Joey Riechmann and Elizabeth Shaver all of Charleston.
Pallbearers were Duck Wilson, Joey Eveld, Pete Strozier, Phillip McKamie, Jim Mars and Benny Magby.
Daisy Almond
Daisy P. Almond, 79, of Ozark died Monday, April 22, 2002. She was a cook for A&H, Ozark Restaurant and Hillbilly Restaurant and a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.B.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Kelly of Kibler; three sons, Earl Almond of Ozark, J.D. Almond of Fort Smith and Jerry Almond of Mulberry; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held April 24 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Cecil Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Pallbearers were David Almond, Stevie Almond, Jimmy Blackwell, David Blackwell, Jimmy Kelly, Danny McDonald, Doug Pledger, Rusty Hill and Steve Birmingham.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hembree Cancer Center, Fort Smith.
Myrtle Snider
Myrtle Snider, 93, of Charleston, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 in a Ft. Smith hospital. She was born May 23, 1911 in Mt. View. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and Westark Community College in Ft. Smith. Active most of her life in the business world being employed at Adams Abstract office in Ozark, the Guaranty Abstract office in Ft. Smith during the construction of Ft. Chaffee, employed for 13 years as secretary to the Division Superintendent of Holt-Krock Clinic where she retired and became a member of "Holt-Krock Retirees" and the "Holt-Krock Volunteers." She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, member of the Bumpers Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women’s Organizations.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with burial at Parks Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Snider of Charleston.
Pallbearers were nephews and great nephews.
Florence Edgar
Florence Edgar, 72, of Ozark, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Edgar.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Ferguson and Nora Severson, both of Mulberry, and Cathern Parker and Mary Heginger, both of Mountainburg; six sons, Eugene Wiggins of Van Buren, Andy Edgar of North Vernon, Ind., James Edgar of Ozark, Darrell Edgar of Mulberry, and Joe Edgar and Bobby Edgar, both of Mountainburg; a sister, Lucy Sampley of Altus; two brothers, Jim Campbell of Greenwood and Floyd Campbell of Spiro; 30 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held March 23 at Houston Cemetery in Alix under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
