Sharon Guthrie

Sharon (Sherry) Lynn Guthrie, 32, died Saturday, June 26, in her home.

She was a resident of Weiner. She graduated from Weiner High School and

attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where she received her

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

She is survived by her father, James Guthrie of Weiner; her mother,

Brenda McDonald Montgomery of Marianna.

Pallbearers were Todd Bartholomew, Bobby Childress, Howard Childress,

Kelly Guthrie, Mike Guthrie and Jason Rudick.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, at Thompson-Wilson

Funeral Home Chapel in McCrory with Rev. Russell Bailey officiating.

Burial followed at Fakes Chapel Cemetery north of McCrory.

Arrangements were handled by Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory and

Wynne.

The family requested that memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes

Association.

Mary Gammon

Mary Kennedy Gammon, 77, died Friday, June 18, in her home.

She was a resident of Forrest City and a member of the St. Francis

Catholic Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Winnie Kennedy of Forrest City,

Barbara Goss of Durham, N.C. and Ida Marie Wilson of Hollowell; one son,

Joseph E. Kennedy of Marianna; three sisters, Theressa Fabre and Ruth

Fabre, both of New Roads, LA and Ruby Brunoise of Baton Rouge; two

brothers, Phillip Vallett, Jr. of Baton Rouge and Lester Vallett of New

Orleans; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, at St. Francis Catholic

Church with Father Tom Marks and Father Shelton Fabre officiating.

Burial followed at the Kennedy Family Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Marvine Brown

Molly Marvine Brown, 66, died Monday, July 5, at Baptist Central

Hospital in Memphis.

She was a resident of Lee County and a homemaker. She also was a member

of Haynes Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie T. Brown, Sr. of Marianna; a

daughter, Nancy Davis of Marianna; two sons, Phillip T. Brown of

Marianna and Charlie T. Brown, Jr. of Monette, AR; seven brothers,

Willie C. Reynolds and Richard Reynolds, both of Marianna, R.V. Reynolds

of Hot Springs, Ray Reynolds of Lexa, Bob Reynolds of Helena, Roy

Reynolds of West Helena and Jerry Reynolds of Spokane, WA; five

grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dylan Goodman and a

brother, Eulin Reynolds.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at

Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Gene Craig officiating.

Burial followed at Marianna Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Gary Reynolds, Lonnie Reynolds, Heath Reynolds, Randy

Reynolds, Jason Brown, Scott Reynolds, Timmy Brown and Jimmy Brown.

Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna.

Memorials may be sent to the Dylan Goodman Memorial Fund at Haynes

Baptist Church.

Vivian Brack

Vivian Shephard Brack, 67, died Saturday, July 3, in Chicago.

She was a member of New Bethel M.B. Church.

She is survived by five sisters, Sharon Bean of Marianna, Christine

Smith of Chicago, Frances Pearl Boler of Gary, Ind., Johnnie Wherry of

Little Rock and Alcenia Shepherd of Chicago; and one brother, Kenieth

Shepherd of Midwest City, OK.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9, at 1 p.m. Kennedy Chapel

with Rev. Keneith Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim

Cemetery.

Arrangements will be handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Gladys Smith

Gladys Smith, 90, died Saturday, July 3, at Crestpark Nursing Home.

She was a resident of Lee County and a housewife. She also was a member

of the Church of the Living God.

She is survived by her husband Fred Smith and one son.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, at 12 noon at the

Church of the Living God in Dansby, AR. Burial will follow at Dansby

Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Hattie Prater

Hattie Mae Prater, 82, died Saturday, June 26, at Crestpark in Forrest

City.

She was a resident of Lee County and a homemaker. She also was a member

of Bethlehem M.B. Church in Marianna.

She is survived by threes sons, Louis Prater and Joe Prater, Jr., both

of Marianna and Oscar Prater of Chicago; two daughters, Mammie Darn of

St. Louis and Joyce Bankston of Milwaukee; 55 grandchildren, 85

great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, at Bethlehem Church with

Rev. Everett Turner officiating. Burial followed at Hempshire Church

Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Deacons of the Church.

Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Prater, Melvin Prater, Alonzo Prater,

James Dean, Jonathan Prater and Eric Malone.

Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Darthua Vaughn

Darthua Vaughn, 23, died Wednesday, June 23.

She was a resident of Lee County and a homemaker. She also was a member

of Shiloh Deliverance Church.

She is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn White; grandparent, Gwendolyn

Edwards; and four brothers, Earnest C. Vaughn, Jr. of Jackson, Miss.,

Marice Thornton of Seattle, Ronelle Thornton of Stockton, CA and Ronald

Stephen Thorton of Germany.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, at Shiloh Deliverance

Church with Evangelist Earnest C. Vaugh officiating. Burial followed at

Mt. Zion M.B. Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lamont Daniels, Michael Edwards, Charles Jackson, James

King, Eric Evans and Derrick Evans.

Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.

Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Henry Lee Burnett

Henry Lee Burnett died July 18 at Waukegan, Illinois.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John Church in Felton.

Visitation will be July 23 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Marianna Funeral Home.

Ora Farris

Ora Lee Farris, 67, died Friday, July 9, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.

She was a resident of Lee County.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at the Church of the

Living God in Marianna. Elder Samuel Brown officiated.

Pallbearers were Edward Farris, Larry Farris, Melvin Farris, Bennie

Farris, Walter Farris, Johnny Farris and Phillip Farris. Burial was at

Pilgrim Cemetery.

She is survived by eight sons, Willie Farris, Jr., Walter Farris, Johnny

Farris, Edward Farris, Bennie Farris, Melvin Farris, Larry Farris and

Phillips Farris; five daughters, Annie Farris, Eashie Farris, Helen

Farris, all of Marianna, Margie Jones of Houston, Texas, and Clara

Granville of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Ruthie Lee Farris of Saginaw,

Michigan; a step-brother, Eugene Carter of Haynes; 41 grandchildren, 23

great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie

Farris, her son and a sister.

Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.

Maxie Sharp

Maxie D. Sharp, 57, died Monday, July 12.

He was a resident of Rondo.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at 2 p.m., at Friendship

M.B. Church in Rondo. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery.

Pastor Earl Johnson officiated. Pallbearers were Eugene Parham, Johnny

Woodson, Ronald Scott, Harvey Williams, Joe Dean Woodson and Thomas

Baily.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah Winnie Johnson and stepfather,

Ernest Johnson, both of Rondo; two sons, Lavaro Westbrook and Keith

Westbrook, both of St. Louis; a sister, Everine Bolden of South Bend,

Indiana; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.
