Jesse Gilmore
Mr. Jesse Harold Gilmore, 80, of Alma, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was a retired ironworker for Buckner and Flemings Construction, a member of The Solid Rock Tabernacle Church in Alma and Ironworkers Local No. 584 in Tulsa and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Dillard Gilmore.
Mr. Gilmore is survived by three daughters, LaVonne Whitlock of Alma, LaVerne Stephens of Grove, Okla., and LaNelle Schmelzer of Alma; two sons, the Rev. Harold Lee Gilmore of Kibler and the Rev. Ronnie Gene Gilmore of Alma; a half sister, Peggy Fuqua of Indianapolis, Ind.; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Jan. 24 at Butterfield Assembly of God in Van Buren with burial at Alma Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Curtis and John Housley, Michael and Tim Whitlock and Cody, Jason, Steven and Travis Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mr. Gilmore's Sunday school class at The Solid Rock Tabernacle in Alma.

Henry Woods
Henry H. Woods, 85, of Van Buren, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in a local hospital. He was retired from Farmer's Coop in Van Buren, Arkansas and he was a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He marriage Louise Samples on November 5, 1949.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife; Louise; two daughters: Marcia Sanders and husband Randy of Van Buren, Arkansas; Sue Ann Gold and husband El Roy Gold, Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas; one son: Steve Woods and wife Susan of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three sisters: Evelyn Bass of Van Buren, Arkansas; Maxine Woods of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Bobby Woods of Van Buren; three brothers: Harry Woods of Fresno, California; Dean Woods and George Woods both of Van Buren, Arkansas; Seven Grandchildren: Matt Sanders of Van Buren; Adam Sanders of Little Rock; April Sanders of The Woodlands, Texas; Jeremy Woods and wife Frankie of Fort Smith; Josh Woods of Fort Smith; and Haley and Elise Clemmons of The Woodlands, Texas; one great-grandchild: Lennon Woods of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Matt Sanders, Adam Sanders, Jeremy Woods, Josh Woods, Randy Sanders and Elroy Gold, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Walter Thompson.
Family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Mary Stout
Mrs. Mary Stout, 72 of Van Buren, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 18th in her home. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Oak Grove Old Time Country Church. Mrs. Stout was preceded in death by a daughter; Janice Chambers and a grandson; Vincent Chambers.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 21st at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband Bill, of the home, a daughter Betty Turner of Rudy, Arkansas, a sister Cris Optz of Van Buren, three grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Lewis Arthur Evans
Lewis A. Evans, 82, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away December 15, 2004 in Fayetteville, Arkansas He was a plumber and pipefitter for local #364, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #208 and Indio Moose Lodge in California. He was also in the Navy. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Evans.
Family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held in San Bernardino, California at Mt. View Cemetery at a later date .
He is survived by his wife Linda Evans of Van Buren, Arkansas; one daughter: Kathy Sanders of California; son: Rick Evans of Little Rock, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Lorraine Osborne
Mrs. Lorraine Osborne, 80, of Van Buren, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 26, 2004 in a local nursing home. She was a retired machine operator at T.J. Smith Box Company in Fort Smith, a member of the Catcher Freewill Baptist Church, and a homemaker. Her husband Steward Osborne preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Three sisters survive her; Wanda Sallee, Lenice Gordon-Thompson, and Lavona Kendrick, all of Van Buren. She is also survived by one brother; Lawrence Crawford of Van Buren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
Mary Jo Galbraith
Mary Jo Galbraith, born on January 19, 1916, on a cattle ranch near Stoney, Texas, ended her earthly life on January 9, 2005 in Van Buren, Arkansas and has been welcomed into the company of the saints of light.
Mary Jo, one of eight children born to Emory and Bryce Wilkins, moved with her family from the ranch to Denton, Texas in the early 1930's. There, Jo and her siblings graduated from Denton High School. Each continued their undergraduate educations with Mary Jo receiving her bachelors and masters degrees from what is now The University of North Texas.
In August 1940, Mary Jo marriage Will Fred Galbraith with whom she had three children, Mary Lynn, John, and Bill. Throughout their marriage, Mary Jo taught English and worked as a school guidance counselor. Additionally, she was a strong supporter of the Presbyterian Churches her husband served as pastor. Together, they faithfully helped lead congregations in Iowa Park, Gladewater, Kilgore, Gatesville, San Antonio, Giddings and Elgin, Texas. She leaves a legacy of care for children in school, church and community and considered it a privilege to show hospitality to strangers and those in need.
Arising from her earliest days, Mary Jo, developed a love for the out-of-doors and gardening. Countless homebound and hospitalized friends and acquaintances were gifted with her floral arrangements. She delighted in nature?s glory and in the beauty of a generous spirit.
She was one of God?s gifts and was well loved by many especially her surviving family, Mary Lynn and Leon Johnson, her daughter and son-in-law of Paducah, Kentucky, and sons John Galbraith and his wife Shelley Kobelin Galbraith of Brighton, Michigan, and Bill Galbraith and his wife, Sibyl Kingston Galbraith of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
From these families came six grandchildren: Jennifer Panor, Jeff Johnson, Matthew Galbraith, Beth Sarey, Kate Cook and David Crist. There are five great-grandchildren: Jake and Ryan Sarey and Kate, Meg and Caroline Panor. Mrs. Galbraith is also survived by a sister, Rachel Mays of Denton, Texas.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of support for Mary Jo particularly from the entire Elgin community and members and friends of First Presbyterian Church. They are also appreciative for her neighbors in Elgin Meadows and those friends, young and old, upon whom she so regularly relied. Thanks is also extended to the caring staffs of the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor, Texas and the Alma Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Alma, Arkansas.
Mary Jo?s good sense of humor, enthusiasm for life and genuine witness to the faith which sustained her will continue to encourage those who follow.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church of Elgin, Texas with burial to follow in Elgin Cemetery arrangements being handled by Elgin Funeral Home.

Floyd Thorman
Floyd Thorman, 85, of Van Buren, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Van Buren. He was a manager for the Co-op Feed Department in Van Buren for 50 years, attended City Heights United Methodist Church and was also a cattleman.
He is survived by his wife, Regina of the home; one daughter, Carolyn Stevens of Van Buren; two sons, Fred Thorman of Van Buren, Wesley Thorman of Fort Smith; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2005 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery also in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Fred, John and Frederick Thorman, Tommy McMellon, Sonny Stevens.
Family will visit with friends at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening.
