Jack Brown
Jack H. Brown, 85, of Alma, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at his home. He was a member of Bible Mission Church in Alma, was retired from Allen Canning Co. in Alma and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Alma Cemetery in Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie; three daughters, Patsy Hatley of Fort Smith, Jackie Harris of Alma and Linda Gabbard of Mountainburg; a sister, Ruth Brown of Alma; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hubeart Kidd
Hubeart H. “Hub” Kidd, 72, of Van Buren, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at a local hospital. He attended the Faith Christian Church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include four sisters, Ethel Watson of Eric, Okla., Thelma Miller of Lavaca, Velma Stockton of Alma and Ila Jones of Mountainburg; three brothers, Arlin Kidd of Eric, Okla., J.T. Kidd of Altus, Okla., and Finis Kidd of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 8 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Bolton Cemetery north of Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were nephews.

Arthur Moore
Arthur “Waddy” Moore, 69, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Van Buren, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in a Lakeland Hospital. He was a business owner and an Assembly of God minister who pastored churches in South Carolina and Florida. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eugene and Ruth Moore; two brothers, Harold and Norman Moore and one sister, Sue Seabold.
He is survived by his wife, Jo; two daughters, Debra Hayes of Lakeland and Sheila Hill of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, Vernon Moore of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 7 at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home in Lakeland.

Joe Belt
Joe Belt, 89, of Van Buren, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Van Buren. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Lola Belt.
He is survived by a son, Jessie Ray Hobbs of Tehachapi, Calif.; a sister, Emma Blasingame of Mulberry; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were William, Jackie, Mark, Jason, Nathan and Joel Boen and Jeff and Steven Black.

Willie Allen
Willie R. Allen, 96, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at a local nursing. He was a retired mechanic for International Harvester, a former volunteer for the Fort Smith Boys Club and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva.
Survivors include one son, James Allen of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Edna Miller of Brookhaven, Miss., and Evelyn Douglas of Crystal Springs, Miss.; two brothers, John Robert Allen of Jacksonville, Fla. and Charles Allen of Archibald, La.; nine grandchildren, Janet Shahan of Van Buren, Frances "Casey" Hulsey of Greenwood, David Truett, Sammie Jo LaTour, Toni Odom, and Scott Truett, all of Fort Smith, Eva Neldner of Torrance, Calif., Mary Parker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John Allen of San Antonio; 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 1 at Putman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Greg Caughman, Sam Truett, James Hulsey, Les Odom, Jackie Lewis, Justin Haller, David Truett and Scott Truett.

Mildred Bell
Mildred L. Bell, 88, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar R. Bell.
Survivors include one sister, Ellen Anderson of Van Buren; three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held Feb. 2 at Gill Cemetery Arbor. Burial was at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Shirley Morris
Shirley M. Morris, 56, of Van Buren, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of Alma Heights Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Josephine Morris of Van Buren; and two sisters, June Dodd of Van Buren and Geraldine Cermak of Negley, Ohio.
Funeral service was held Dec. 10 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Tim and Michael Roe, Jeffery, Troy and Raymond Dodd and Ides Evans.

Omer Lollis
Omer “Buddy” Lollis, 84, of Alma, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Alma. He was plant manager for Allen Canning Co. in Alma for 42 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith and the Pastor Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Oma Lollis of Van Buren, Nina Lairamore of West Fork and Patti Hill and Pam Sivils, both of Alma; a sister, Cecile Leftwick of Dekalb, Texas; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Oct. 28 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Todd Hill, Greg and Ronnie Sivils, Terry Dean, Ronald and Donald Gentry.
Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Smith Pastor’s Class or Area Agency of Aging Home Health Hospice.
