Walter Reed, Jr.
Walter Bentley Reed, Jr., 71, of Van Buren, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War, retired from Southwestern Glass Plant and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was the widower of Lavonna Reed.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Reed of Oklahoma City; four sons, Mark Bentley, Michael and Matthew Reed, all of Oklahoma City, and Richard Patrick Reed of Hannibal, Mo.; a sister, Gloria Belcher of Van Buren; a brother, Jimmy Reed of Van Buren; and several grandchildren.
Graveside service was held June 12 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Angela Sellers
Angela Kay Sellers, 6, of Van Buren, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a kindergarten student at J.J. Izard Elementary School during the past school year.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Diana and Wilburn Tugg of Van Buren; her maternal grandmother, Martha Howard of Van Buren; her step-grandmother, Wilma Glass of Van Buren; a sister, Kristie Hile of Oklahoma; and two brothers, Michael and Randy Sellers of the home.
Funeral service was held June 11 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was held at Gill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wilburn Tugg, Michael Sellers, Charles Fitzgerald and Pete Hile.
Ronald Kye
Ronald Dale Kye, 41, of Van Buren, died Friday, June 7, 2002. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jo and Larry Key of Van Buren; two sisters, Glenda Myers of Springdale and Jody Kye Mullen of West Fork; one brother, and Charles Edward Kye of Springdale.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Michael Collingsworth Jr.
Michael Collingsworth Jr., 20, of Van Buren, died Monday, June 10, 2002. He worked in maintenance at OK Foods.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; one son, Dant’e Collingsworth; his father, Michael Collingsworth Sr. of Van Buren; his mother, Karen Leaton of Van Buren; paternal grandmother, Kay Collingsworth of Fort Smith; paternal great-grandmother, Cleo Depalmo of Ohio; maternal grandmother, Dema Moore of Fort Smith; maternal grandmother, Floyce Giles of Van Buren; maternal grandparents, Ken and Donna Moore of Lavaca; maternal grandparents, Larry and Carol Leaton of Oregon, three sisters, Stefani Collingsworth, Kynisha Leaton, Tisha Sausa, all of Van Buren; two brothers; and Christopher Collingsworth and Brady Leaton, both of Van Buren.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Collingsworth, James Avery, Dennis Adams, Vince Campney, Ron Moore, James Moore and Joseph Campney.
Lucille Wilson
Lucille Martin Wilson, 90, of Van Buren, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a Baptist and a former member of the Alma Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray.
Survivors include two daughters, Polly E. Ashing of Fort Smith and Betty Wellnitz of Van Buren; three sons, Melvin Martin of Oklahoma City, Boyce Edward Martin of Uniontown and Jack A. Martin of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held July 31 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Helen Caton
Helen Louise Caton, 79, of Van Buren, formerly of Elyria, Ohio, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Oblates and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her husband, Dolphas; five daughters, Patricia Willis of Cleveland, Barbara Bauer of San Diego, Beverly Moser of Glenmont, N.Y., Diana Allen of Auburn, Wash., and Catherine McNally of Roland; a sister, Ann Dargai of Pittsburgh; and eight grandchildren, Brian, BreAnna, Ian, Holly, Dane, Ethan, Dennis and Sean.
Rosary was held July 30 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.
Mass was held July 31 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Burial was at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Tim and Tom McNally, Hank Nicko, Jack Moser, David and Mark Horton.
Fred Campbell
Fred L. Campbell went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 in Rancho Mirage, Calif., at the age of 67.
Fred was born in Mulberry on Jan. 28, 1934. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Fred was preceded in death by his mother Effie; father, William and brother Hugh. He is survived by wife, Wanda; daughters, Audrey, Janice and Sandra; son, Keith; brothers Bill of Hemet, Calif., and David of Sonora, Calif.; sister, Lucy Willson of Mulberry; and grandchildren Amanda, Ryan, Terry, Andrew and Kellie.
Fred was blessed to have had a full life and happy retirement, retiring from PG&E at the age of 53 after 35 years of employment. He was an avid golfer, serving on the Board of Directors of Mace Meadows Golf and Country Club and was 2001 club champion as well as 2001 club champion at Desert Center golf course.
A funeral service to celebrate Fred’s life was held at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson, on Friday, Jan. 25.
Ruby MacCameron
Ruby Bertha MacCameron, 85, of Van Buren, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a retired school teacher and member of First United Methodist Church in Huntington, Va., and Marshall University Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Midkiff of West Virginia, Mary Simmons of Barling and Kathy Methfessel of Concord, Calif.; and a niece.
Graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
