Morris Phillips
Morris Phillips, 61, of Alma, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Alma. He was a self-employed painting contractor.
Funeral service was held Jan. 27 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Alma.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Coffman of Borger, Texas; two sons, Alfred Morris Phillips of Charleston and Gary Wayne Phillips of Boston; two sisters, Edith Lee of Georgiana, Ala., and Jeanette Duffle of Panama City, Fla.; five grandchildren.

Cleo Garrison
Cleo Bell Garrison, 89, of Van Buren, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a brother, Ben Jones of Van Buren, and a niece and nephews.
Funeral service was held Jan. 28 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Raymond and Ben W. Jones, Bill Marion, Batch Parks Richard Strite and Phillip Richardson.

Marvin Briley
Marvin C. Briley, 83, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He retired after 26 years as a route salesman for Acee Milk Co. After his retirement, he worked at Yeager Hardware for five years. He was a member of Van Buren First Assembly of God Church, the widower of Wanda Testerman Briley and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Briley of Charleston, W.V., and Mary Shackleford and Judy Scott, both of Van Buren; two sons, Johnny Ragsdale of Van Buren and Larry Briley of Greenwood; three sisters, Faye Alice Brewer of Van Buren, Mary Watkins of Uniontown and Margarete Steeley of Oklahoma; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 25 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial with military honors was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Johnny Jack, David Symonds, Duane Dyer, Duane Chadwick, Paul Brown and Dale Brown.

Patricia Rothwell
Patricia Pat A. Rothwell, 56, of Alma, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, in Alma. She attended Liberty Assembly of God.
Memorial service was held Jan. 23 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Rothwell of Van Buren; two sons, Jerry Rothwell of Alma and Jesse Rothwell of Muldrow; a sister, Elizabeth Duquette of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Kendra and Darian Rothwell and Kasey Copeland; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House, 3324 South M St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Alice Toler
Alice V. Toler, 80, of Van Buren, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002. She was a homemaker, loved music and was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Toler; one daughter, Fredrecia Whittenburg of Aurburn; one son, William Nellums of Kansas City, Mo.; three stepchildren; two sisters, Marion Vanes of Fredonia, Del., and Dawn Ellinsworth of Milford, Del.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 11 at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Murray Funeral Home of Durant, Okla. Local arrangements were by Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Lorene Nolan
Lorene Nolan, 80, of Van Buren, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Partain of Uniontown; three sons, Scottie Nolan of Gentry and Glynn Nolan and Donald Nolan, both of Uniontown; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 12 at Allison Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and Richard Hunter.

Helen M. Harris
Helen Harris, 83, of Alma, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ in Alma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Harris.
Survivors include one son, James Harris of Alma; three sisters, Hazel Lowery of Kansas City, Mo., Doris Richmond of Salem, Mo., and Betty Piff of Englishtown, N.J.; one brother, Norman Wells of McAllen, Texas; two grandchildren, Raoul Harris of Van Buren and Amber Stanart of Alma; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Harris and Mariah Harris, both of Van Buren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 12 at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Bob Boston Jr.
James Robert “Bob” Boston Jr., 58, of Van Buren, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a mechanic for Van Buren Bus Garage and attended United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Rona Boston of Mountainburg; three sons, Raymond Boston and Robert Boston, both of Bridgeport, Texas, and Matthew Boston of Van Buren; his mother, Opel Boston of Fort Smith; five sisters, Wanda Tinsely of Stigler, Okla., Joyce Lindsey of Van Buren, Carolyn Bamburg of Greenwood, Gracie Zink and Georgia Schalski, both of Fort Smith; two brothers, Bill Boston of Keota, Okla., and Robert William Boston of Fort Smith.
Funeral service was held Feb. 13 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Charles DeShazo, Wade Barnes, Shawn Pinkerton, Grant Beckman, James Richesin and Kent Means.
