Charles Tucker
Charles Allen Tucker, 84, of Van Buren, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002. He was a member of Church of Christ, an Army veteran of World War II and was a retired salesman for Speer Hardware Co.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Tucker; two daughters, Edna Mae Laster of Greenwood and Patricia Ann Howard of Van Buren; one son, Charles Warren Tucker of Mansfield; three sisters, Wilma Preston of Fort Smith, Reba Slackard of Mansfield and Thelma Martin of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held May 2 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was held at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Eric Little, Dewayne Howard, Ronnie King, Tony Cox, Jason Cox and Steve Cox.
Dorothy Mitchell
Dorothy Mitchell, 63, of Stigler died April 21, 2002. She was formerly of Van Buren.
Survivors include her husband, Joe; four sons, Ricky Joe Mitchell, Michael D. Mitchell, Eric Howard Mitchell and Eric Howard Mitchell Jr.; two daughters, Miranda Mitchell and Robyn Jean Mitchell; her mother, Gracie Ellen Howard; one brother, Billy Howard; one sister, Jo Key; three grandchildren, Ricky Joe Mitchell Jr., Jennifer Myrick and Mark American Horse.
Funeral service was held April 25 at Lighthouse Christian Center. Burial was at Bower Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Buddy McGinnis, Gene Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell, Mark American Horse and Kirk Myrick. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Eric Mitchell and Billy Howard.
Charles Greenfield
Charles “Wayne” Greenfield, 53, of Alma, died Friday, May 3, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a foreman for Jensen Construction Co. bridge builders and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Bellville.
Survivors include his wife, Joy; a daughter, Kelly Spinks of Prairie Grove; two sons, Jerry of Paris and Jackie of Alma; his mother, Pauline Greenfield of Havana; two sisters, Linda Cherry and Debbie Cooper, both of Havana; three brothers, Gary of Havana, Jimmy of Vancouver, Wash., and Tommy of Morrilton; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service was held May 6 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was held at Gill Cemetery.
Truman Broyles
Truman I. Broyles, 89, of Alma, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a charter member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the board of directors for a great number of years, and he was a member of Gideons International. He was a former owner and operator of Broyles Service Station and RV Sales in Alma. He also had worked for Frisco Railroad. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Essa Mae.
Survivors include his wife, Zera of the home; a daughter, Janet Futrell of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Wayne Broyles of Alma and David Broyles Sr. of Van Buren; a stepson, Joe Lloyd Jr. of Alma; a sister, Lynn Hatfield of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held May 6 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was held at Newberry Chapel Cemetery in Alma.
Pallbearers were Alan Broyles, Randy Broyles, Matthew Broyles, David Keith Broyles Jr., Joe Lloyd III and Kevin Hardcastle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Greer, Tommy Secrest, Tommy Leverette, Darrell Oliver, James Gay and Earl Ross.

Louise Gentry
Louise Ray Gentry, 83, of Van Buren, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and a former office manager for the Van Buren Water Department. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ray.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Gentry; one daughter, Elaine McKeown of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sons, Paul Ray of Van Buren and Bruce Ray of Sherwood; one brother, Donald Peer of Fort Smith; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be J.C. Ray, Pat Biggerstaff, Rick Biggerstaff, Richard Peer, David Peer and Steven Peer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Unity Sunday School class of the Heritage United Methodist Church.
Wyatt Houghton
Wyatt C. Houghton, 44, of Van Buren, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at a local hospital. He was an employee of Jim Grizzle Tire Company.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl; a son, Douglas Wages of Van Buren; his mother, Irene Starner of Beaumont, Calif.; five sisters, Kathy Glaister, Sherry Dunaway, Linda Houghton, Brenda McCoy and Irene Barron, all of California; and four brothers, Quirk, Billy, Larry and Ricky Dunaway, all of California.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Block Holiness Church. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Wages, Roger Brausell, Bruce Long, Alan Leifker, Billy Smith and Tony Garvin.
Eules Huggins
Eules L. Huggins, 71, of Van Buren, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; three daughters, Mae Perryman and Lisa Huggins, both of Van Buren, and Patricia Hale of Texas; four sons, Billy, Terry and Eugene, all of Van Buren, and Danny of Texas; a sister, Opel Walden of Mulberry; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service was held May 13 at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Mulberry.
Pallbearers were Danny, Billy and Eugene Huggins, Rick and Rickey Perryman and Rick Hale.
Bobby Hyde
Bobby Gay Hyde, 36, of Alma, died Friday, May 10, 2002. He was a department manager for Wal-Mart in Van Buren and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Rachel Hyde of the home and Erin Dalton of Alma; two sons, J.C. and David, both of the home; his father, Melvin Hyde of Van Buren; his grandparents, Herbert and Sylvia Hyde of Van Buren; and a half brother, Gary Holman of Van Buren.
Funeral service were held May 14 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chad Graham, Mark Shelton, Billy Warren, Donald Swaim, Rick Dodson and Bill Swaim.
