Urcie Childers
Urcie O. Childers, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002. She was formerly of Van Buren, and was preceded in death by her husband, Euel Childers.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Hopper of Colorado Springs; stepdaughter Euelene Worsham of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Perkins of Alma; one brother, Claude Overbey Jr. of Mountainburg; three granddaughters, Brook O. Ano and Carla Hopper, both of Colorado Springs, and Patricia Worsham of Maryland; and five great-grandchildren Alex Ano, Mychal Hopper, Zeke Ano, D'Mia Hopper and Dhajia Hopper, all of Colorado Springs.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 6 at Van Buren Church of the Nazarene at the Life Center.
Donald Davis
Donald Davis, 65, of Alma, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a retired brazer for Whirlpool and father to many foster children over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; three sons, Brian Davis of Fayetteville, Steve Davis of Booneville and Gary Davis of Port Orchard, Wash.; one sister, Doris Williams of Corona, Calif.; two brothers, Alvis Davis of Greenwood and Jimmy Davis of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held April 24 at Concord Baptist Church. Burial was at New Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Billy Sammons, Robert Wilson, A.C. Vincent, Billy Clark, Donnie Nolan and Chip Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Robert Wilson Sunday school class.

Bette Dunn
Bette J. Dunn, 69, of Alma, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of the 71 Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include Ruby Cowan and Dora Bell, both of Dyer, and Pearl Penkava of Iowa.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at 71 Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Conley Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Jasper Dunn, Benny Dyer, Ronald Cole, James Plum, Robert Dyer and Harold Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Pigg and members of 71 Freewill Baptist Church.
Robert Monroe Sr.
Robert James Monroe Sr., 76, of Alma, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, former resident and firefighter of Black Canyon City, Ariz., and a retired heat and air installer in Fort Worth, Texas.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Fuller of Alma; one son, Robert Monroe, Jr., of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary Ann Sarge and Ophelia Bell Carlton, both of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Bob Center
Bob Coy Center, 72, of Van Buren, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was retired from Beatrice Foods, Army veteran of the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Harrower of Van Buren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Freddie Samples
Freddie Joe Sample, 75, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired employee of Fort Smith Bus Terminal and a cattle farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Merl of the home; a daughter, Sherry O’Bar of Van Buren; two sisters, Louise Woods of Van Buren and Betty Younger of Roland; a brother, John Samples of Van Buren; a granddaughter, Christal Gilmore; a step-grandson, Cory O’Bar; two great-granddaughters, Chelbi and Chloe; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held March 7 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Macedonia Cemetery near Uniontown.
Pallbearers were Randall, Billie and Harold Richmond, Gary Jeremiah, Johnny and Jeff Mizell and Lance Bradford. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Hicks, Jearl and Paul Watkins, Phil Honeycutt, Curtis Workman, Jack Matthews, Herb Lewis and Lee Henson.
Billie Davis
Billie Joan Davis, 67, of Alma, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a member of the Dyer Assembly of God Church, former Dyer resident and a retired employee of Dixie Cup. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilson Davis.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Kimes of Alma, Donna Epps of Alma, Alice McDonald of Fort Smith and Joni Shaum of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Walters and Nelda Burks, both of Alma; one brother, Robert R. Wilson of Alma; eight grandchildren, Brian Kimes, Jason Kimes, Amy Kimes, Corey Shaum, Justin Shaum, Chelsea Smith and Chris Smith and Laura McDonald.
Funeral service was held March 6 at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial was at the Dyer City Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Brian Kimes, Jason Kimes, Corey Shaum, Justin Shaum, Tony Kimes, Rick Wilson and Jeff Burks.
