Eula Patterson
Mary Eula Patterson, 85, of Mulberry, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Alma. She was a homemaker and a member of Centerpoint Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; three daughters, Mary Edith Jones of Mulberry and Betty June Brewer and Lorene King, both of Mountainburg; a son, James E. Patterson of Mulberry; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 16 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry.
Pallbearers were James E. Patterson, J.D. King, Dennis “Pete” Peters, Robert Jones, Jim and Isaac Featherston and Bobby Brewer.
Della Worley
Della Carolyn Rye Worley, 61, of Rudy, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in Rudy. She was an assembly line worker for Southern Steel and Wire in Fort Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Jones of Rudy and Tommy Maddox of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Michael White, Misty Jones, Natasha Jones and Terry Maddox; and three great-grandchildren, Christian White, Katelyn White and Michael White Jr.
The body was donated to medical science. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Lloyd Potter
Lloyd L. Potter, 84, of Van Buren, formerly of Sallisaw, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in Van Buren. He was a member of Calvary Temple Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II where he was a test pilot in the Burma, India, area.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Greenlee Potter; three daughters, Alice Farrar of Van Buren, Patsy Felix of Rosamond, Calif., and Janie Irvin of Fort Smith; a sister, Margaret Quigley of Tracey, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Lucas, John Portz, David Felix, Johny Andrews, James Cotney and Brad Cocran.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Tony Cruise
Tony Cruise, 51, of Van Buren, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a Baptist and member of Van Buren National Guard for six years. He was retired form Crawford Health and Rehabiliation Center.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen Cruise; one stepdaughter, Tracey Howard of Van Buren; one son, Michael Cruise of Van Buren; one stepson, Harold Morgan of Mountainburg; one brother, Tommy Joe Cruise; nine grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.
Graveside service was held Dec. 16 at Arbuckle Island Cemetery north of Alma. Arrangement were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Misty Jo Lee
Misty Jo Lee, 30, of Mountainburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, in Mountainburg. She was a waitress at the Catfish Hole.
Survivors include one daughter, Paige Noel Lee of the home; her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Richard Krajewski of Van Buren; father and stepmother, Blake and Patricia Dunbar of Greenwood; one sister, Donita Jasker of Tulsa; one stepsister, Terrie Gamble of Hackett; and maternal grandparents, Betty Walls of Alma and James Warren of Prairie Grove.
Funeral service was held Dec. 13 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Conley Cemetery near Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jeff Teague, Travis Teague, Ian Rogers and Ricky Hammond.
Lorene Lancaster
Lorene Moss Lancaster, 96, of Dyer, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, member of Dyer United Methodist Church and the widow of the Rev. Irl S. Lancaster. She founded and operated Dora Moss Library in Dyer and was active in United Methodist Women’s Group.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Dodson of Dyer; three sons, Thomas Lancaster of San Diego, Calif., Charles Lancaster of Alamo, Texas, and John Lancaster of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were family members.

Finis Beckham
Finis Lee Beckham, 77, of Van Buren, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in Van Buren. He was a retired upholstery foreman with Kay Chair Co. in Van Buren, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Alta; three daughters, Sandy Smith, Phyllis Scott and Pamela Hendrickson, all of Van Buren; one son, Ricky Beckham of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; his mother, Lena Beckham of Van Buren; two brothers, Raymond Beckham and Larry Beckham, both of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 18 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Clay Smith, Blake Mashburn, David Hendrickson, Benjamin Cook, Mike Gregg and Tony Gregory. Honorary pallbearers were John Lowery, Bill Moore, Jim Burkhart, John House, Clarence Carter and Don McClane.
