Lucille Rice
Lucille Lincks Rice, 84, of Van Buren, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at a local hospital.
She was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Bates to William Henry and Lou Emma Sliger. She was the widow of the late George Richard Lincks, her first husband. She later remarried and was widowed by the late Charles Waylen “Si” Rice of Waldron. She was a homemaker and a member of the Senior Bowling League at Midland Bowl on both teams, Blue Monday and 39ers Plus. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church and the LLL Club at North Park Baptist Church.
Funeral service was held Dec. 17 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren, with interment following at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith. Her grandson, the Rev. Randy Miller, with the Rev. Mike Taylor assisting, conducted the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Mona S. Miller of Van Buren; six sons, Richard M. Lincks of Maumelle, Darrell R. Lincks of Moore, Okla., Carroll R. Moore of Tulsa, D.J. Lincks of Van Buren, Jim W. Lincks of Richardson, Texas, and John H. Lincks of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Eddie Dean Miller, Wesley Earl Miller, Harold Gene Lincks, Mark Aaron Lincks, Justin Carroll Lincks, Darrell Lincks Jr., John Ryan Lincks and Danny Cox.
Honorary pallbearers were Jay Sorrells, Doyel Evans, Bud Rice, Kevin Hickman, Lee Jones and Kurt Matthews.

Jim Thomas
Jim Thomas, 67, of Kibler, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at his home. He was a retired machine operator.
Graveside service was held Nov. 13 at Alma Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Jimmy Dale Thomas of Van Buren and Steven Thomas of Alma; a sister, Frances Barenberg of Alma; and three grandchildren.
Lorene Lancaster
Lorene Moss Lancaster, 96, of Dyer, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, member of Dyer United Methodist Church and the widow of the Rev. Irl S. Lancaster. She founded and operated Dora Moss Library in Dyer and was active in United Methodist Women’s Group.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Dodson of Dyer; three sons, Thomas Lancaster of San Diego, Calif., Charles Lancaster of Alamo, Texas, and John Lancaster of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were family members.

Dora Dyer
Dora Lora Beatrice “Bea” Dyer, born Feb. 19, 1922, was called back to the Lord Oct. 23, 2002. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Lester Ray; brother, Bill Battles and sister, Frankie Shelby. She is survived by brothers, Raymond Battles and wife Gayle and Junior Battles and wife Sammie; sister, Merrel Turner and husband J.C.; brother-in-law, Pete Shibley and sisters-in-law, Mildred Schroeder and Fay Jennings; daughters, Betty Meikle and husband Ron, Linda Meyer Alexander and husband T.J., Carol Pilch and husband Wayne; a son, Robert Dyer and wife Shawna; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many more extended family and dear friends.
Bea was a wonderful mom and a cherished sister who will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to share in her life. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of the North Park Baptist Church in Van Buren. She followed her husband in his career at Boeing to many different cities across the country, settling for a time in Santa Maria, Calif., before returning home to Arkansas. She spent the last few months of her life in Tucson and passed away peacefully in her sleep.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 2, 2002, at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Remembrances may be made in Bea’s name to Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, c/o Glenn Briley, 516 N. 24th St., Van Buren, AR 72956. Arrangements are by Adair Funeral Homes in Tucson, Ariz.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
Gary Barber
Gary Don Barber, 38, of Van Buren, died Monday, Oct, 28, 2002, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Crawford County and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Barber; two stepdaughters, Brenda Bobbitt of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Marsha Thacker of Van Buren; two stepsons, David Stewart of Fort Smith and Forrest Caple of Van Buren; four sisters, Wanda Jean Jones and Margie Foster, both of Fort Smith, Joyce Primm of Alma and Ruth Yandell of Little Rock; three brothers, Donald Barber of Alma, Donnie Barber of Cedarville and Benny Barber of Van Buren; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Yoestown Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
William Burgett Jr.
Williams “Bill” Burgett Jr., 75, of Van Buren, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a retired warehouse material handler for Beech Aircraft Co.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine; two sons, John and Larry Burgett, both of Van Buren; two sisters, Ila Love of Mountain Grove and Jo Boswell of Mulvane, Kan.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Nov. 13 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Leonard Jones
Leonard R. Jones, 85, of Van Buren, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren, member of the Burton Masonic Lodge No. 50 in Muldrow, Navy veteran of World War II and retired manager of DeSolo Furniture Co.
Survivors include his wife, Rue Jones; one daughter, Euvonnie Jean Lankford of Van Buren; one son, Lindsey Faye Jones of Van Buren; one brother, Sequoyah Ross Jones of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Nov. 12 at First Baptist Church in Van Buren. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery with Masonic graveside service under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Dayton Vann, John Ralph Vann, H.L. Van, Leche Vann, Lowell Glass and Dr. Mike Hurst. Honorary pallbearers were members of Adult Sunday School Class No. 7 and Burton Masonic Lodge No. 50 in Muldrow and deacons of First Baptist Church.
