Nita Morris
Nita V. Morris, 100, of Kibler, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at a local hospital. She was the widow of the Rev. Jewel Morris Sr. and a lifelong member of Kibler Baptist Church and a retired elementary school teacher. She taught in the Haroldtown Community, 55 Community, Turner Community, 88 Community, Oak Grove and Kibler. She was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association and Baptist Women’s Missionary Union and an alumni of the College of the Ozarks at Clarksville.
Survivors include one daughter, Elwanda Morris of Houston; one son, Jewel Morris of Van Buren; one sister, Aleta Davis of Van Buren; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service was held Nov. 12 at Kibler Baptist Church. Burial was at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were family members.

Helen Adams
Helen McIlvaigh Adams, 95, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in Fort Wayne. The native of Van Buren graduated from Van Buren High School in 1925 and Gulf Park (Miss.) Junior College in 1927. She was a homemaker and widow of William Seth Adams.
Survivors include three stepsons, the Rev. William Set Adams of Austin, Texas, Jerry B. Adams of Conway and John A. Adams of Littleton, Colo.; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Hollie Hughes
Hollie “Little Nanny” Hughes, 84, of Rudy, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and attended Rudy New Hope Pentecostal Church of God.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Stallings of Rudy; two sons, Kelsey Nolen of Susanville, Calif., and Charles Nolen of Delight; two sisters, Aleen Short of North Highlands, Calif., and Barbara McLelland of Rudy; a brother, Perry Melba Jackson of Barling; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Nov. 9 at Rudy New Hope Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Mount McCurry Cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were David Kevin, Darwin and Kevin Rydell Nolen, Monty, Jason and Joshua Stallings and Justin Burkhart.
Bobbie Jeffers
Bobbie Jean Jeffers, 57, of Mulberry, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in Mulberry. She was a legal secretary for Daily and Woods Law firm in Fort Smith and a member of First Baptist Church in Mulberry.
She is survived by three sons, John Lewis of Beebee and Paul and James Lewis, both of Mulberry; a brother, Shelly Bruce of Mulberry; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Nov. 8 at First Baptist Church in Mulberry with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were family members.
Kathryn Lufkin
Kathryn Lufkin, 84, of Van Buren, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, a volunteer for the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the widow of Wilbert R. Lufkin.
A private memorial service was held Nov. 6 at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Lufkin of Van Buren; a son, Peter Lufkin of Van Buren.

Kenith Birchfield
Kenith Birchfield, 70, of Van Buren, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a retired self-employed carpenter.
Funeral service was held Nov. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Francine; two daughters, Charlotte Allan Ledger of Fallbrook, Calif., and Cynthia Brown of Victorville, Calif.; two sons, Vernon Birchfield of Clovis, Calif., and Marlon Rex Birchfield of Van Buren; two sisters, Thelma Delrossie of Mount Ephraim, N.J., and Garnet Farris of Greenwood; two brothers, Warren Birchfield of Bidville and Doug Burchfield of Mountainburg; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Charles Wilson
Charles “Leonard” Wilson, 77, of Van Buren, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a warehouse manager at Gerber Foods for 37 years and was retired. He also was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda Astre of Fort Smith, Lisa Gist and Lori Sprenger, both of Van Buren, and Leslie Miller of Alma; a sister, Maxine Myers of St. Joseph, Mo.; a brother, George Wilson of Mount City, Mo.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Nov. 5 at Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Gene, Randy, Steven and Chuck Astre, Johnny Gist and Kent Miller.
