Vernell Nichols
Vernell Nichols, 35, died Friday, January 29.
He was a resident of St. Francis County and a construction worker.
He is survived by his mother, Veria Mea Nichols; six brothers, Robert
Earl Nichols, Hollis Nichols, Lee Nichols, Jr., Larry Nichols, Eugene
Nichols and Charles Smith; twelve sisters, Flora Jean Reeves, Gloria
Jean Lockett, Loretta Nichols, Barbara Ann Guess, Angela Nichols, Tina
Tyree Nichols, Jvonne Nichols, Annette Nichols, Diane Nichols, Dottie
Bea Nichols, Samantha Nichols and Vernice Davis.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 6, at Bethlehem M.B.
Church in Forrest City with Rev. Michael Reeves officiating. Burial
followed at Castell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Reeves, Johnny Lockett, Jimmy Lockett, Paul
Lott, Milton Parton, Jerome Kidd and Earl Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Borgard, Robert Nichols, Eugene
Nichols, Lee Nichols and Charles Smith.
Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.
Reece Parrish
Mr. Reece L. (R.L.) Parrish, 74, died Friday, December 10, at the VA
Hospital in Memphis.
He was a resident of Haynes and a retired carpenter. He also was a
Baptist.
He is survived by three sons, James Reece Parrish of Texas, Glen Dale
Parrish of Florida and Troy Parrish of Marianna; two daughters, Ophie
Brady of Texas and Joy Fay Nix of Haynes; three brothers, Herbert
Parrish of South Carolina, Joe Parrish of Marianna and Billy Parrish of
Oklahoma; three sisters, Janice Bryant of Wynne, Shirley Conner of
Oklahoma and Inez Presley of Haynes; 14 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch Irene Parrish.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 13, at Morgan Chapel, at 1
p.m. with Bro. Bud Davis officiating. Burial followed at Hughes
Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Morgan Funeral Home.
James Harris
James Harlan Harris, 91, died Tuesday, January 26, at St. Francis
Hospital in Memphis.
He was a lifelong resident of Lee County and a retired equipment
operator for the county. He also was a member of First Baptist Church in
Marianna.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Harris of Marianna; two daughters,
Josephine Travis of Cordova, TN and Norma Sue Buford of Helena; two
sons, James F. Harris of North Little Rock and Danny H. Harris of
Memphis; one sister, Lillian Anderson of Alton, IL; one brother, Fate
Pitts, also of Alton; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two
great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Harris of Aubrey and
three sisters, Lou Fisher, Dolly Mae Jones and Lilly Mae Gaunt.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28, at the First Baptist
Church in Marianna at 2 p.m. with Rev. Alan Greer officiating. Burial
followed at Marianna Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Inez Young
Inez Young, 90, a resident of Little Rock, died Thursday, January 28.
She was a member of the Pulaski Heights Methodist Church and was retired
from the Employment Security Division.
She is survived by two nephews, Courtney Langston and Dr. John Matthews;
one niece, Martha Langston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, January 30, at 10 a.m. at
Roselawn Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth.
Eugene Seaburn
Rex Eugene Seaburn, 63, died Thursday, January 28, at Helena Regional
Medical Center.
He was a resident of Lee County and a factory worker at Spencer Press.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Nona Seaburn of Marianna; his mother, Mary
J. Seaburn of West Helena; and his sister, Nancy Hires of West Helena.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Burton Seaburn.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 30, at 2 p.m. at
Roller-Citizens Chapel with Rev. Austin Hamilton officiating. Burial
followed at LaGrange Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Hires, William Hires, Burt Hires, Crawford Jones,
Mark Lee and Kenneth Walls.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
James Goodman
James Robert Goodman, 82, died Saturday, January 30, in his home.
He was a resident of Lee County and a retired farmer. He also was a
member of Aubrey Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Geneve Goodman of Aubrey; one daughter, Faye
Ramsey of Crystal River, Fla.; one son, Robert Goodman of Cleveland, MS;
two sisters, Bernice Christian and Beatrice Hinkle, both of Aubrey; four
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, at 2 p.m. at Aubrey
Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Wilbanks officiating. Burial
followed at LaGrange Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chuck Holmes, Britt Goodman, Harry Farmer, Billy Don
Hinkle, Jerry Lamb, Steve Simpson, Shane Holloway and Holly Hickman.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Philomena Christenson
Philomena "Phyllis" Weber Christenson, 79, died Friday, January 29.
She was a resident of Lee County and a retired registered nurse. She was
a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Marianna. She also was a
member of Arkansas Nursing Association and Am Nursing Association. She
was a Red Cross nurse, past State President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary,
and State President of the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by three sisters, Maggie Gassman and Olilia Riedel, both
of Park, KS, and Marie Meir of Manlo, KS; and six brothers, Henry Weber
of Greenfield, KS, George Weber, Larry Weber and Sil Weber, all of
Salina, KS, Martin Weber of Oakly, KS, and Al Weber of Park, KS.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, at 10 a.m. at St.
Andrew's Catholic Church with Monsignor John George Weber and Father Ed
Graves officiating. Burial followed at Marianna Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Marianna V.F.W. members.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Willie Conley
Willie Mae Conley, 86, died Tuesday, January 19, at Baptist East
Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
She was a resident of Lee County and a member of Eagle Zion M.B. Church
where she was an usher.
She is survived by two daughters, Woodie Conley and Therosa Conley, both
of New York City; two sons, Willie Lee Conley of Marianna and Charles
Lee Conley of New York City; three sisters, Annie Greer and Cele Tennie,
both of Haynes, and Louise Hughes of Forrest City; two brothers, L.B.
Tennie of Marianna and Luther Tennie of North Carolina; ten
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sherman Conley.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 30, at 2 p.m. at Eagle Zion
M.B. Church with Rev. Lester Webb officiating. Burial followed at Mt.
City Cemetery in Felton.
Pallbearers were Anthony Conley, Steve Conley, Willie Conley, Oliver
Moore and Ervin Hughes.
Hononary pallbearers were Bruce Morgan, Glenn Moore, W.C. Carpenter,
Rommie L. Hamilton, Arther Lewis Turner and Johnnie C. Evan.
