Stanley Shaw
Stanley J. Shaw, 73, of Mountainburg, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in Roff, Okla. He was a retired construction laborer and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vina.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Horton of Roff, Okla.; four sons, Rick Shaw of Roff, Donald Shaw of Lakeview, Ore., Joseph Shaw of Modesto, Calif., and Howard Shaw of Series, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Yeoman of Napa, Calif.; a brother, George Shaw of Orange City, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Aug. 13 at Locke Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Wilbur Marston
Wilbur W. Marston, 63, of Mountainburg, died Saturday, July 27, 2002. He was a member and deacon of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Roland, retired from Whirlpool and Marine Corps Reserves veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Marston; two daughters, Brenda Miller of Mountainburg and Debra Christy of Alma; three sons, Kenneth Marston of Fort Smith, Anthony Marston of Lowell and Hank Gore of Van Buren; three sisters, Helen Mills of Oklahoma City and Faye McClurg and Mary Sharp, both of Van Buren; a brother, Oliver Marston of Mountainburg; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held July 30 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. Burial was at Locke Cemetery in Mountainburg.
Pallbearers were Eddie Miller, Hank Gore, Thomas Edge, Kenneth and Anthony Marston and Lonnie Aikins.
Anthony Cooley II
Anthony Vaughn Cooley II, infant son of Shannon and Anthony Cooley of Van Buren, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at a St. Louis hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Destynie Cooley of the home; his paternal grandparents, Roger and Ruth Cooley of Van Buren; maternal grandmother, Kathy Wagner of Van Buren; maternal grandfather, Darrell Kilgore of Fort Smith; maternal great-grandfather, Gene Dwyer of Mountainburg.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edward Hobson
Edward James Hobson, 80, of Kibler, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was a member of Kibler Assembly of God and was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Italy and Custers Polar Bear Division. He was retired from Desota and Riverside Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Kay Nordin of Alma and Patsy Marie King of Dayton; two sons, Billy Ed Hobson of Mountainburg and Roger Dale Hobson of Alma; a sister, Thelma Duhon of Louisiana; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held July 30 at Gill Cemetery Arbor in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Keith, Michael and Shawn Hobson, Mark and Paul King and Glenn Nordin.
Hubert Tuck
Hubert W. Tuck, 51, of Kibler died Sunday, July 21, 2002. He was a machine operator at Fort Smith Rim and Bow.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; two daughters, Stacy Belt of Fort Smith and Teresa Tuck of Dyer; four sons, Sean Redding of Fort Smith and Jason, Shannon and Michael Tuck, all of Kibler; his parents, Ellen and D.T. Tuck of Kibler; two sisters, Shirley Moring of Muldrow and Vicky Blount of Van Buren; a brother, Bobby of Kibler; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside service was held July 23 at Gill Cemetery Pavilion at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Scott Aldridge
Scott Eugene Aldridge, infant son of Justin Aldridge and Melissa Gregory McCormick of Van Buren, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at a Little Rock hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Cheyenne Gregory of the home; a brother, Maverick Gregory of the home; his paternal grandmother, Geneva Aldridge of Van Buren; maternal grandparents, John and Bobbie McCormick of Alma; three great-grandparents and two great-great-grandparents.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gill Cemetery Arbor under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Dessie Williams
Dessie Williams, 84, of Dora, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Van Buren. She was retired co-owner and operator of B and B Bait in Fort Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Hersel; two daughters, Barbara Powers of Las Cruces, N.M., and Martha Oglesby of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held July 29 at Salem Cemetery Arbor near Cedarville under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Donna Meadows
Donna Sue Meadows, 42, of Mulberry, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in her home. She was a member of Church of Christ.
Graveside service was held July 20 at Peters Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Mulberry.
She is survived by her husband, Rasho; a daughter, Jennifer Colleen Ward of Toronto, Kan.; a son John Meadows of Mulberry; her mother, Elaine Russell of Van Buren; two brothers, Troy Lee Gregory of Van Buren and Ronnie Gregory of Alma; and two grandchildren.
