Eunice Gregory
Eunice M. Gregory, 88, of Mulberry, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Mulberry.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Primm of Alma; a brother, Woodrow Wagner of Holdenville, Okla.; five grandchildren, Larry Gregory and Patti Davis, both of Houston, LaRhonda Morris of Mulberry, Greg Primm of Lowell and Angie Coleman of Fairfax, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held July 1 at First Baptist Church in Mulberry. Burial was at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Larry Gregory, Greg Primm, Randy Morris, Stephen Davis and John Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons with First Baptist Church in Mulberry.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mulberry Senior Inn of First Baptist Church in Mulberry.
Herschel Johnson
Herschel Johnson, 75, of Van Buren, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was a member of Westark Church of Chist, a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired printer for Dixie Cup and a member of the Pace #5-0656 local union. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Strong of Van Buren, Phyllis Porter of Norman, Okla., Marsha Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Jimmy Johnson of Van Buren; five sisters, Shirley Ann Shoppach and Patsy MInish, both of Fort Smith and Joyce Thomas, Wanda Fagan and Louise Newton, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Robert Johnson, Richard Johnson, Danny Johnson, all of Van Buren; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Memorial Chapel of Van Buren. Burial will be held at Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Tom Porter, Eddie Newton, Charlie Stockton, Brad Thomas, John David Fagan and Steve Shoppach.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McCoy and the printing department of Dixie Cup.
Roger Allen Kuykendall Jr.
Roger Allen Kuykendall Jr., infant son of Sandy and Roger Kuykendall of Van Buren, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Other survivors include one sister, Katelyn Kuykendall; paternal grandparents, Barbara and Larry Elkins of Alma and Gordon Kuykendall of Mulberry; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Luigi DiMarco and William Ray Polly, all of Mulberry; paternal great-grandparents, Fannie Rodgers of Alma, Wayland and Jenece Kuykendall of Mulberry; maternal great-grandparents, Louise Polly and William Oliver McCollum, both of Mulberry and Ruth Campbell of Alma.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Cemetery Arbor. Burial will be held at Chastain Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Grant Rodgers
Grant Rodgers, 80, of Mountainburg, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rodgers.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Trigg of Houston, Patricia Kitchens of Fort Smith, Mary Alice Adair of Magazine, Jean Merriweather of Alma and Linda Kaufmann of Mountainburg; a son, Grant Jimmy Rodgers of North Little Rock; a sister, Opal Love of Lake City; a brother, Gene Rodgers of Mulberry; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Thomas Primm
Thomas A. Primm, 53, of Doyline, La., formerly of Van Buren, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in Doyline. The native of Altus was a former resident of Natural Dam, an Army veteran and former employee of Matlock Electric Co.
Survivors include one daughter, Alena Janet Primm of Sallisaw; two sons, Thomas Eldon Primm and Jason Leigh Primm, both of Sallisaw; two sisters, Phyllis Schmalz of Van Buren and Sue Weaver of Doyline; one brother, Ronald Lee Primm of Alma; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Almer Fritchey
Almer Joseph Fritchey, 86, of Van Buren, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at his home. He was a retired minister of the Assemblies of God, a member of National Republican Party and several civic organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Richard Leon Fritchey of Liberty, Mo., and Jon Fritchey of Van Buren; a sister, Margaret Thomas of Van Buren; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Burkett, Johnny, Charles, Jon and Richard Fritchey Jr., David and James Flippin.
Honorary pallbearers will be ministers of the Assemblies of God.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jane Bowman
Jane Bowman, 86, of Mountainburg, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a member of Mountainburg Presbyterian Church, retired owner and operator of Jane’s Cafe in Mountainburg and the widow of Floyd Bowman.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Cochran of Mountainburg; two sons, Ronald Creekmore and John Salyer, both of Mountainburg; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Mountainburg Presbyterian Church with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Kyle Salyer, Steve and Danny Cochran, Britain White, Brent Burney, Danny Hight, Charles Shelly and Mike Anderson.
Jonathan Davis
Jonathan Brandon Davis, 21, of Rudy, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, near Rudy. He was an employee of Arkansas Carbide Co. and attended Van Buren First Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his mother, Debra K. Davis of Rudy; his father, William Edward Davis of Delhi, La.; one brother, Eddie Davis of Rudy; and his maternal grandparents, Elmer N. and Frela Mae Walden of Rudy.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Morrison Cemetery near Rudy.
Pallbearers were Jerald Stone, Tommy Walden, Randy Bilyeu, Robert Wayne, James Davis, Eric Walden and Josh and Chris Niles.
