Anna Watkins
Anna Marie Watkins, 84, of Mulberry, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker, an avid quilter and fiddler play and of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of R. C. Watkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Humble and Jean Slavens, both of Mountainburg; three sons, Danny Joe Watkins, Davey Watkins and Darrell Watkins, all of Mulberry; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held May 1 at Pope Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Richard McDonner, Steve Watkins, Bradley Watkins, Brian Berry, Brett Meadors, Danny Johnson, Curtis Scowden, Gavin Watkins and Kirby Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Red Jones, Ralph Jones, Pete Watkins, Kenny Watkins, Argil Watkins, Junior Dewey, Donald Stout, Ray Rastall, Andy Kizer, Bobby Shores and Allen Ray Ward.
Hugh Willson
Hugh Tom Willson, 98, of Mulberry, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at a local hospital. He was retired from Mulberry Lumber Company and attended Vine Prairie Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Louise Blanton of Pikeville, Ky., and Wanda Campbell of Westpoint, Calif.; three sons, Ed Willson, Williams L. Willson and Joe Willson, all of Mulberry; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held May 1 at Shaffer Funeral Home of Mulberry. Burial was at New Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Fuenral Home.
Pallbearers were Randy Willson, Jim Willson, Donnie Willson, Ronnie Willson, Bob Willson, and Jim Dale Willson.
Claire Shires
Claire Shires, 63, of Cedarville, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a graduate of Arizona State University and an antique dealer.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Ray Cook of Alpena, Mich., and Thomas Wayne Cook and Scott Lee Cook of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside service was held May 4 at Hall Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Donny Smith, Jr.
Donny Smith, Jr., 37, of Van Buren, died February 5, 2005 in Little Rock. He was an electrician for the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Gill Cemetery Pavilion in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by one son, Patrick Griffin of Hackett, AR; his mother and stepfather, Judy and Mike Cook of Van Buren, AR; his father and stepmother, Don Paul and Jolene Smith of Van Buren, AR; one brother, Virgil Smith of Pocola, OK; two half sisters, Nichole Melvin of Arlington, TX and Danyelle Melvin of Van Buren, AR; maternal grandparents, Faye and Virgil Russell of Van Buren, AR; and two nephews, Christopher Smith of Pocola, OK and Austin Smith of Pocola, OK.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR.
Wilma Cook
Wilma Lee Cook, 66, of Cedarville, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Cedarville and Natural Dam.
Survivors include her husband, David; one daughter, Judy Kay Philpott of Cedarville; three sons, David W. Cook and Barry Cook, both of Cedarville, and Michael Cook of Van Buren; two sisters, Ruby Fain of Natural Dam and Mary J. Wood of Cedarville; one brother, Ernest Ellison of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held April 29 at Hall Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Josh McMellon, Corey Cook, Brandon Haley, Tommy Mankins, Lewis Irvin and Ernest Ellison.
Ivan Hunter
Ivan H. Hunter, 78, of Mulberry, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002. He was a retired chief petty officer for the Navy and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star Remy Lodge No. 260. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Pearson of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Ivan Murphy of Springfield, Mo., and Shawn and Eric Murphy, both of Fort Smith and four great-grandchildren.
The body will be cremated and there was a private interment at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Clyman Young
Clyman Dale Young, 75, of Mulberry, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired salesman for Sears and a member of United Methodist Church in Alma.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Ron Young of Mulberry; two grandchildren, Vanessa and David Young, both of Mulberry.
Funeral service was held June 29 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. Burial was at New Cemetery of Mulberry.
Pallbearers were Virgil Sharum, Clinton Sumner, Robert Shelby, Bill Alverson, Eugene Whitlock and Warren Blaylock.

Bertha Wood
Bertha M. Wood, 95, of Uniontown, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and attended Uniontown First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew; a daughter, Melberta Jones of Cypress, Calif.; a son, Donald Wood of Everett, Wash.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 28 at Uniontown First Baptist Church. Burial was held at Uniontown Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Vestal Wood, Jack Flippin, William Koonce, James Johnson, Nathan Kirby and Homer Marshall.
