Linda Yvonne Couch Schulte

Linda Yvonne Couch Schulte, age 53, of Little Rock, died March 28, 2005. She was born on January 31, 1952 in Little Rock to Solange and the late William Schulte. She was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Schulte. She is survived by her mother, Solange Rose Schulte, her sister, Annette Bobitt, and her fiance', Alfred N. May. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening in the chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church with Monsignor David LeSieur celebrant.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church, 1003 North Tyler St., Little Rock, AR 72205.

Charles Richesin

Charles Richesin was born in Omaha, AR on January 1, 1928. He was the son of John Ross Richesin and Virginia Crumpler Richesin, and surviving spouse of Carolyn Hathaway Richesin. Charlie was raised by Georgia Huffman Richesin after the death of his mother in 1932. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed away March 15, 2005, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

Charlie worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and the first member of his family to graduate from college. He was a lifelong Razorback fan.

Charlie served in the Arkansas National Guard and spent 12 months on active duty in Korea during the Korean Conflict.

He was marriage to Carolyn Hathaway for 54 years and is survived by 3 children, Christine Richesin Thomas, Chuck Richesin and John Richesin. He had 6 grandchildren, Josh Thomas of Potomac Falls, VA; David Thomas of Centreville, VA; Jim Thomas of Tampa, FL; Eleanor Thomas of Tallahassee, FL; Somer E. Richesin of Jackson, MS; and C. Ross Richesin of Little Rock. He is survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Payton Thomas. He is also survived by his only living brother Utah (Toad) Huffman.

Charlie was an avid fisherman all of his life. He loved fishing on Bear Creek, Crooked Creek and the White River while he was growing up. Later he spent many hours fishing on Lake Maumelle. For the last 20 years, he became known as a superb yellow tail fisherman in the Florida Keys.

He was nicknamed "Big C" by all the Keys boat captains. Upon learning of his death, the boat captains will perform a small maritime service for one of the "oldtimer" Keys fishermen.

A private service will be held on Friday followed by a reception at his long time residence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CARTI in memory of Charlie and Carolyn Richesin.

Jenny Lee Pope Murphey

Jenny Lee Pope Murphey, age 89 years, of Little Rock, died Monday, March 21, 2005. She was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas later moving with her family to Little Rock, in 1929, where she graduated from Little Rock High School. After high school she attended the Fanny Farmer's Culinary School in Boston, Massachusetts. She also worked as a legal secretary before her marriage to William Mills Murphey. Jenny was a very active volunteer working at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Center, Girl Scouts and Parent Teacher Association, as well as the Central Arkansas Library Book sale. She loved her church, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, where she was on the Alter Guide for many years. Jenny was an excellent cook and loved to travel. She was most fond of England and Ireland, establishing life long friends in Ireland.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William Mills Murphey of Little Rock, two daughters; Sara Diane Williamson and husband Kit of Merritt Island, Florida, Margaret "Peggy" Arlene Machen and husband Lewis of Little Rock and one grandchild, Merritt Machen.

There will be a graveside burial of ashes Wednesday morning at 11am at Rose Lawn Cemetery officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson.

Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society.

Sophie Sumner Mulligan

Sophie Sumner Mulligan, 74, of Little Rock died Wednesday, March 9, 2005. She was born in Salisbury NC to Edwin and Helen Sumner Hobson.

She attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. On March 31, 1951 she and Bud Mulligan were married. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Sophie was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Barbara Anne Mulligan of Memphis, TN and Robin Mulligan Meinert and her husband, Jerry of Kansas City, KS, one son, Robert Noel Mulligan of Little Rock, two granddaughters, Alexandra and Kaitlyn Meinert and one brother, William Henry Hobson of Ashville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 14 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. A reception will follow at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson's Association or the St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

Howard William Mason

Howard William Mason, age 83, of Little Rock died March 3, 2005. He was born in Little Rock on June 27, 1921 to the late George and Ola Ashley Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife Miriam J. Mason. He was a Veteran of WWII having served with the 101st Airborne Unit. He was also a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his 4 children, Iris Brockette and her husband Hoagie of Little Rock, James and Joe Mason of Little Rock, and William Mason of Searcy; a brother, George Mason of Little Rock; sister, Helen York of Houston, AR; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Brent, April, Samantha, and Aaron; 5 great-grandchildren, Montana, Taylor, Sydney, Hannah, and Cameron.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. Burial will be on Monday, March 7, 2005 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time at Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY.

Laura Lirleen McMurry Lilly

Laura Lirleen McMurry Lilly, age 90, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005. Lirleen was of the Baptist Faith, and retired from Arkansas State Hospital where she was a Laboratory Technician.

Lirleen was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Taylor McMurry; father, J. J. McMurry; brothers, Lewis and Millard McMurry; sister, Maylah McMurry Allison; and her husband, Russell Lilly.

Lirleen is survived by daughter, Sandra Diane Lilly Ward; two grandchildren, Kathleen Diane Ward, Sean David Ward and wife Lynne. She had two great-grandchildren, Ian Sean Ward and Jackson Anthony Ward, along with many nieces and nephews and their children. Her primary interests included her love of God, and her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2005 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at McFarland Cemetery in Banks (Bradley County).

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehab for the excellent care given to Lirleen over the years.

Those desiring to make memorial donations may do so to the Alzheimer Association.

Mary Kathryn Lewis

Mary Kathryn Lewis, of Little Rock, died Friday, March 25, 2005. She was born March 25, 1920 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Baltis D. and Jessie Marie Campbell Bourne. She was a Catholic and retired from the Corp of Engineers, where she was in the finance and accounting division.

She is predeceased by a brother, James C. Bourne, Sr, and survived by her husband James Clyde Lewis of Little Rock, two brothers, B. D. Bourne, Jr. of Hensley, Arkansas and William E. Bourne, Sr. of Russellville, Arkansas, a step-daughter, Jamie Parham, and her children; Melanie Fox and husband Jeffery, Greg Parham and wife Carol, and Janice Thibault and husband Scott, a step-son John Lewis and wife Lady, all of Little Rock, and 6 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Rosary Monday at 7pm at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed by the burial of ashes at Mount Holly Cemetery Tuesday at 11am officiated by Reverend Father Kenneth Fryar, F.S.S.P.. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a favorite charity.

John Leo "Jack" Laudenberg

John Leo "Jack" Laudenberg, 83, of Little Rock, husband of Jane Dick Laudenberg, died March 11, 2005 at St. Vincent Infirmary. He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on September 10, 1921 to Jeanette and Leo Laudenberg. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon.

He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the Army where he was a member of a team testing the atom bomb on Bikini Atoll. Jack began his career at Phillips Petroleum Company. He then joined the Aluminum Company of America retiring after forty-five years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane; two daughters, Julia Lothrop and husband Lawrence of Balch Springs, Texas, and Susan Walker and husband David of Sacramento, California; four grandchildren, John and Jennifer Williams and Katie and Daniel Lothrop; sister, Mary Jane McLean and husband Edwin of Belleville, Illinois.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at Ruebel Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Hancock officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
