Mary Lucille Hefley
Lucille Hefley, of Little Rock, departed this life to be with her maker on Saturday, September 24, 2005. She was born in Little Rock, in 1910 to Jennie Glover Rogers and William Sanford Rogers.
In 1927, Lucille had the honor of being elected Senior Class President of the first graduating class of the newly constructed Little Rock High School, later named Central High. Lucille was also a National Honor Society member.
In 1984, Lucille retired as Secretary and Program Administrator at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
Lucille and her husband, Reverend John B. Hefley, lived in several Arkansas towns during Reverend Hefley’s career as a Methodist minister.
Since 1967, Lucille has been a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, and a member of the Neil Hart Sunday School Class. Lucille was honored as a “Pillar” of St. Paul. Throughout her life, Lucille was a serious student of the Bible and taught Sunday School classes for 70 years.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers: Eugene S. Rogers, Fred A. Rogers and Glen F. Rogers. She is survived by two sisters, Allene Wells of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Pauline Lewis of Tyler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers can be sent to St. Paul Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72207.

Dorothea Lawrence Gilbert
Dorothea Helen Lawrence Gilbert, 82, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005. She was born November 8, 1922, in Fleming County, Kentucky, to the late Fred and Hazel Helphenstine Lawrence. She served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy in Corpus Christi, Texas, and had a career with the Central Intelligence Agency, stationed in Cyprus before returning to Washington, D.C., where she married, and lived in Potomac, Maryland, until moving to Little Rock in 2001 to be near her daughter.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harry Turner Gilbert, Jr., and her daughter, Amy Gilbert Pollard and husband, Hugh, of Little Rock; brothers, Albert Lawrence of Brandenburg, KY, and James Lawrence of Centerville, OH; sister, Geraldine Allison of Annapolis, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2005, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St., Little Rock, (501)666-0123.
Dagma Othel Brodie
Dagma Othel Brodie, age 89, of Little Rock, died September 2, 2005. She was born on June 11, 1916 to the late Walter Othelo and Dagma Harp Brodie. She graduated from Little Rock High School and later attended Draughn School of Business. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Little Rock where she a member of the tele-links Sunday School Class.
Ms. Brodie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Catherine Brodie and Evelyn Louise Morgan. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today at 12 noon at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to The First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, AR 72201.

Sigrid Wolffs Wright
Sigrid Wolffs Wright, 81, of Little Rock, died on Saturday, September 10, 2005. She was the widow of J. Dexter Wright who preceded her in death in July 2004. She was the daughter of Else Spieker Wolffs and Harry Wolffs.
Sigrid immigrated to New Orleans, LA on December 31, 1951 with the sponsorship of her Uncle and Aunt Erwin and Emma Spieker. She entered the school of nursing and following graduation she worked on the infectious disease department of Charity Hospital for 34 years. She retired in the fall of 1984 and moved to Little Rock. She and Dexter were marriage in 1986.
She is survived by her cousin and best friend Dr. Gisela Spieker of Little Rock, two nieces, Dr. Dorothea DeCampo and Christiana Koenig of Germany and sister-in-law, Virginia Morris of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by a stepson John Wright and his wife Cathy of Houston, TX and stepdaughter, Jeanne Wright of San Francisco, CA. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by one sister, Ruth Wolffs Koenig Langenfeldt all of Germany.
A Christian funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor James Walter officiating. Internment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. Mary Elizabeth Woolsey Whitney
Mary Elizabeth Woolsey Whitney, age 87, of Little Rock, died Saturday, September 10, 2005. She was born in Danville, Virginia to the late Claude and Era Shores Woolsey. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Haynes Whitney, who died in 1994, and a brother, Don Woolsey.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Haynes Whitney, Jr. and wife Gladys of Little Rock, Daughter, Debora Ann Whitney of Little Rock; brother, Larry Woolsey and wife Sue of Little Rock; grandson, Thomas Haynes Whitney, III; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a graduate of the University of Missouri, receiving her degree in Social Work before receiving her Master’s at Tulane University. She was a Social Worker at U.A.M.S., Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and Easter Seals of Arkansas. In her active years, she served as Vice President of Family Counseling Services, President of Vassar Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and was a member of American Association of University Women and the American Red Cross. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Little Rock, the Country Club of Little Rock, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief, or CARE for Animals.

Winston Theodore Treadway
Winston Theodore Treadway, age 38, of Little Rock, beloved son of Lou Ellen and Ted C. Treadway, and cherished brother of Ellen and Amy, died Saturday, September 17, 2005. He was a kind, compassionate, and generous young man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Winston was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where he was a member of the Matin Choir and an acolyte. Winston graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1986 and later earned a degree in institutional food service from Quapaw Vocational Technical School in Hot Springs.
At age 14, after initiating an Arkansas Rice Depot project to feed the hungry with Scout Troop #27, Winston achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed Boy Scout Outward Bound excursions in New Mexico and Minnesota.
Winston had many hobbies including duck hunting with his father in DeWitt, traveling with his family, and collecting antiques. He especially treasured his oil paintings created by his paternal grandmother and art pieces given to him by his maternal grandmother.
Winston was a gifted cook and storyteller. He baked poppy seed and rum cakes from scratch, and he enjoyed dinners and playing bingo with his dear friends and neighbors at the Kathleen Peek Apartments. They all will miss him greatly.
Winston will be remembered always with deep love, admiration, and respect from everyone he knew. He had great empathy and concern for others, especially those in need of a friend. Winston’s keen sense of humor and worldly perspective will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by the Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Winston’s family will receive visitors at 1921 North Monroe following the services.

Priscilla Swan Nesbit
Priscilla Swan Nesbit, 89, of Little Rock, died Saturday, September 10, 2005. She was born on February 4, 1916 in Pittsfield, Illinois to the late Burr and Dot Dorsey Swan. She was a beloved wife and mother.
Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Merle S. Nesbit, survivors include daughters Lynn Nesbit of New York, New York and Priscilla Green of Little Rock. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Priscilla Gilman and Claire Gilman of New York, step-grandson Nicholas Gilman of Mexico City, and two great-grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be held in Illinois at a later date.

W. Barnett "Barney" Stansell
W. Barnett “Barney” Stansell, of Little Rock, died October 10, 2005. He was born in Little Rock to the late Wre B. and Katherine McGahhey Stansell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dartha Garst and brother, John Wesley.
Mr. Stansell had been Branch Manager of Appliance Buyer’s Credit Corp; with the Credit Department of Bankamerica Credit Card of the First National Bank of Memphis and had retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Little Rock. He was a United States Army Veteran, and a member of the Geyer Springs United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Middleton Stansell; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Dale and Leslie B. Stansell; two grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob, and sister, Katherine Lusby of Lake Charles, LA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home with Rev. Deanna McCormack officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
