Pauline Layman
Pauline Sturdy Layman, 85, of Harrison, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at her home. The native of Mulberry had lived in Harrison for 12 years and was a former resident of Miami, Okla., where she was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a homemaker and widow of Anderson Flint Sturdy and Marion Taylor Layman. She was a fourth generation Ozark resident, the great-granddaughter of frontier people who moved to Franklin County, Ark., from Franklin County, Tenn., after the War of 1812.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Cline of Harrison, Peggy Quarles of Tulsa and Cathy Hibbs of Moberly, Mo.; one brother, Ernest McCabe of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Ellen Frances White of Mulberry and Patsy Castor of Fort Smith; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Nov. 4 at Mallory Funeral Home in Strigler with burial at New Cemetery in Stigler.

James Taylor
James I. Taylor, 91 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 at Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a retired employee of Goff-McNair Motor Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Lee Taylor and Lloyd Wayne Taylor, both of Fayetteville; two daughters, Janet Lake of Fayetteville, and Peggy Lewis of Van Buren; one sister, Madge Moore of Fayetteville; and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The family will visit with friend from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jack Perkins
Jack Curtis Perkins, 61, of Alix, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was a retired truck driver and a Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; three daughters, Lisa Chitwood of Van Buren, Lou Anna Perkins of Harrison and Patty Perkins of Maryland; a brother, Dan Perkins of Van Buren; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Aug. 30 at Dyer City Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Frank Kovitch
Frank Kovitch Jr., 64, of Arlington, Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, in Van Buren. He was a self-employed quality engineer in Arlington and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Arlington.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen; a daughter, Rita Barr of Houston; three sons, Ken of Van Buren, Frank of Arlington and Scott of Murphy, Texas; a sister, Mary Lou Dwyer of Willoughey, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Arlington. The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Delpha Childress
Delpha Gene Holt Childress of Mayflower, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2002, in Lamar.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlette Childress Neumeier of Florida; two grandsons, Thomas Neumeier of Texas and James Neumeier of North Little Rock; six sisters, Robbie Dayton of Albany, N.Y, Ruby Brown Escondido of California, Dorothy Markin of Oklahoma City, Beatrice Johnson of Los Angeles, Mary Manning of North Little Rock and Josephine Miller of Agora, Calif.; three brothers, James Holt of Marysville, Calif., Johnny Holt of Sherwood and Tommy Holt of Alma; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Sept. 21 at Zachary Cemetery in Lamar.
Margaret Worth
Margaret Irene Tedder Worth, 75, died Sunday, July 14, 2002. She was a nurse.
Survivors include three daughters, Cherry I. Marchbanks Dyer of Fort Worth, Texas, Cosette Marchbanks Larsen of San Bernadino, Calif., and Virginia Ouzts of Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren, Melissa Yaspan, Aaron Yaspan, Joshua Yaspan, James Larsen and Danny Larsen.
There will be a private service.

Lydia Farrar
Lydia Jamie Farrar, 39, of West Covina, Calif., died Wednesday, June 26, 2002. She was a homemaker, did volunteer work and was a part-time noon aide at a California school.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Raymond Farrar; two sons, Christopher John Peterson and Michael Jamie Farrar, both of California; her parents, Irene and James Baldwin of West Covina; one brother, Jimmy Baldwin of Moreno Valley, Calif.; four sisters, Marty Craven of Rudy, Diana Ruth of Truckee, Calif., Lisa Miller of Alta Loma, Calif., and Dorothy Sidik of West Covina.
Vigil service was held July 1 under the direction of Guerra and Guitierrez Mortuary of Whittier, Calif. Funeral liturgy was held July 2 at Saint Christopher Catholic Church in West Covina. Rite of Commitment was held under the direction of Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif.
Betty Kendig
Betty Mae Kendig, 66, of Springdale, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a retired independent insurance agent for Trans America Insurance Co. in Little Rock and a member of Westside Freewill Baptist Church in Springdale.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Waggoner of Fort Smith; three sons, Danny L. Brown of Cleveland, Michael E. Brown of Van Buren and Tony Kendig of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Helen Shabander, Dean Gattis and Diane Brooks, all of Florida; two brothers, Troy Payne of Florida and Paul Payne of Springdale; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held July 13 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
