Billie Pippenger
Billie Jo Pippenger, 66, died Thursday, August 5, at St. Vincent's
Hospital in Little Rock.
She was a resident of Marianna, formerly of Harrisburg and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, William Pippenger, Jr. of Marianna and
Billy Glen Pippenger of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Lottie Mae Grainger
of Wilmington, N.C. and Ella Leann Smith of Aubrey; three sisters,
Juanita Terry of Amarillo, Lorrita Ingram, also of Amarillo and Nioka
Fallon of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 7, at 3 p.m. at the
Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Captain Lovell
officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner.
Pallbearers were Billy Pippenger, Jesse Pippenger, Billy Pippenger, Jr.,
William Pippenger, Jr., William Pippenger, III, and Anthony Pippenger.
Arrangements were handled by Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
Avery Scruggs
Avery Scruggs, 91, died Wednesday, August 4, at Crestpark Nursing Home.
He was a resident of Marianna and a retired farmer. He also was a member
of the Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He is survived by one sister, Bertha Lee Hines of Muskegon, Michagan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Scruggs.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 9, at the Greater Jerusalem
Baptist Church at 10 a.m., with Rev. L.C. Smith officiating. Burial
followed at Shady Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.
Connie Turley
Funeral services for Connie Turley will be held today, Thursday, August
12, at 10 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna. Burial will follow
at Marianna Memorial Park.

Connie Turley
Connie Frances Turley, 54, died Monday, August 9, in her home.
She was a resident of Marianna and a member of the First Assembly of God
Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Triplett of Marianna and Sharon
Sullivan of Memphis; three sisters, Sue Hislip and Betty Jo McClendon,
both of Marianna and Mary Swan of Rondo; six brothers, Norris Oxner of
Mountain Home, Carl W. Oxner of Marianna, Jimmy Jackson of Palestine,
Pete Oxner of Austin, TX, George Oxner and Ricky Oxner, both of Rondo;
three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; stepmother, Jessie
Oxner of Rondo; two special friends, Ester and Raymond Gill and a host
of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Oxner.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 12, at 10 a.m., at
Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Larry Wilhite and Rev. Ed
Lindsey officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro.
Pallbearers were Larry Bryant, Bubba McCraw, Virgil Turley, Earl
McBride, Allen McBride and Gene McMahan.
Honorary pallbearers were fellow law enforcement officers.
Memorials may be made to Baptist Memorial Hospice in Forrest City.

Bennie Williams, Sr.
Bennie Williams, Sr., 73, died Monday, August 9, at Crestpark Nursing
Home.
He was a resident of Marianna and a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his wife, Aline Matthews Williams of Marianna; one
sister, Willie Smith; three daughters, Helen Garrett, Margaret Williams
and Michelle Williams; four sons, Bennie Williams, Jr., Jimmy Williams,
Larry Williams and Jackie Armstrong; 20 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Pearlie Williams, Carrie
Grant, Rosie Polk and Mary Ingram; two brothers, Harry Williams and
Albert Williams; and one daughter, Betty Williams Johnson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, at Pilgrim Baptist
Church with Rev. Samuel Beason officiating. Burial followed at Pilgrim
Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bennie Williams, Jr., Jimmy Williams, Larry Williams,
Darron Williams, Antonio Williams and Frederick Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Armstrong, Leroy Smith, Kenny Smith,
Samuel Lott and Tommy Green.

David Parker
David Parker, 45, of Brickeys, died August 10.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, at Greater Jerusalem
M.B. Church in Brickeys. Rev. Lonnie Parker, Jr., officiated. Burial was
in Old Jerusalem Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, LaDanna Ellison of Grand Rapids, MI and
Channon Cooks of Little Rock; a brother Lonnie Parker, Jr., of Jackson,
TN; eight sisters, Everlena Burson of Louisiana, Missouri, Essie Lee
Maben, Bessie Mae Bennett, Lottie Bell Parker, Earlene Pettigrew,
Deloris Parker, all of Benton Harbor, MI, and Dovanna Beasley of Moro,
and Clotte Turner; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.

Jerry Arnold Lee, 54, died Thursday, July 26, in his home.
He was a resident of Heber Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Faye Lee of Heber Springs; his mother,
Dovie Shannon of Heber Springs; six children, Brad Lee and Vera Lee,
both of Helena, Teresa Lee of Dayton, Ohio, Pam Lee of Florida, Phillip
Lee of Dayton, Ohio and Johnny Lee of the Navy; four brothers, Ivan Lee
of Heber Springs, Sharp Lee of Marianna, Junior Lee and Rodger Lee, both
of Illinois; four sisters, Sue Davis of Heber Springs, Pat Norman of
Illinois, Linda Lloyd of Nashville and Bonnie Graham of Peoria,
Illinois; and numerous grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at Marianna
Memorial Park with Rev. Rodger Hooker officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Johnny Williams Jr
Johnny Williams, Jr., 47, died Thursday, July 22, in Memphis.
He was a resident of Forrest City and a construction worker.
He is survived by three daughters, Farrah Williams, Ocie Lee Lockett and
Aretha Williams, all of Forrest City; one son, Johnny Williams, III of
Forrest City; five sisters, Gertrude Gladney and Bertha Brown, both of
Little Rock, Flora Harris and Willie Mae Walker, both of Forrest City
and Permene Barnes of Memphis; four brothers, Eddie Williams, Henry
Williams, Ivy Williams and David Harris, all of Forrest City; father,
Johnny Williams, Sr. of Little Rock; and stepfather, Willie Harris of
Forrest City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at the New Light
M.B. Church in Forrest City. Burial followed at Casteel Cemetery.

Caroline Hampton
Caroline Mary Hampton died Friday, July 23, in Forrest City.
She was a resident of Forrest City and she was retired.
She is survived by one son, Wardell Robinson of Forrest City; five
sisters, Rosie Lee Wright, Luberta Dawson, Allie Mae Wright, all of
Forrest City, Bernice Lurey of Florida and Odessa Hackett of Marianna;
and four brothers, Ozell Wright of Detroit, Odell Wright and W.C.
Wright, both of St. Louis and Brison Wright of Forrest City.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive M.B.
Church in Haynes. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery.
