Paul Wood
Paul Wood, 77, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at a Fayetteville hospital. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Harris Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Paul W. Wood and Robert Wood both of Anaheim, Calif.; one step-son, Brian Hemet, Calif., Herbert Wood of Whittier, Otis Wood of Winslow, Earl Wood of Kansas City, Kan., and Truman Wood of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Lorene Adams of Fayetteville, Nettie Briles, of Springfield, Mo., and Alice Alexander of Sullivan, Ind.; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services was held May 11 at Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville. Burial was at Bidville Cemetery.

Wilbur Richardson
Wilbur DeWitt 'Dee' Richardson, of Jerico Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, April 23, 2002. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was one of the five divers for the Army. He was one of the first poultry farmers in Crawford County, worked for J.C. Nickles Construction Company of Kansas City, was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs, Mo.
Funeral service was held April 26, at the First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs under the direction of Brumback Mortuary of Stockton, MO. Interment, with full military honors, was held at El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of the home; two daughters, Janette Perryman of Van Buren and Annette Jeffries of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, W. D. Richardson of Van Buren, Donald Richardson of Waldron and Mark Richardson of Jerico Springs, Mo.; stepchildren, Joe Roy D. Kaderly, of the home, Cindy Appel, Karen McGatha, David McGatha, Christine Stewart and Brenda Jeffries; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Todd Mooney, Brian Perryman, Mark Richardson, Roger Stewart, Laddie Tabor, and Roy Kaderly, Jr.

David Rayburn
David King Rayburn, 44, of Little Rock, died Saturday, March 25, 2002, at a Little Rock hospital. He was an employee of Med-Tronic, member of St. James Methodist Church in Little Rock, a 1976 graduate of Van Buren High School and a graduate of University of Missouri with a bachelor of science degree.
Survivors include his wife Catherine; one daughter, Amy Rayburn of Little Rock; one son, Lucas Rayburn of Little Rock; his mother, Mary Jane Rayburn of Lavaca; one sister, Becky Hogan of Dora; one brother, Bob Rayburn Jr. of Little Rock; one nephew Justin Hogan of Dora.
Funeral service was held March 26 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Memorial service was held March 27 at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
Pallbearers were Mark Evans, Michael Ocker, Price Roark, Mark Hatfield, Charlie Steele and Jason Oleska.

Jessie Parker
Jessie D. Cluck Parker, 75, of Reno, Nev., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002. She was a retired nurse from a Sacramento, Calif., hospital and formerly of Rudy. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include one sister, Wilma Cluck Gilliam of Fort Smith.
The body was cremated under the direction of Reno Memorial Funeral Services.
Vernon Smith
The Rev. Vernon S.L. Smith, 85, of Roland, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in McAlester. He was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Okemah, Okla., was a non-denominational minister for 26 years and widower of Irene Smith. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 6 in Van Buren and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include four daughters, Verene Parker of Charleston, Ruth Hinshaw of Leosburg, Mo., Evelyn Sanders of Hazelwood, Mo., and Elizabeth Priest of Tempi, Ariz.; three stepdaughters, Nancy Wilson and Mary Redden, both of Roland, and Veroqua Yaffee of Fort Smith; one stepson, N.W. Bowling of Roland; one sister, Velma Joliff of Tulsa; two brothers, Raymond and Hubert Smith, both of Tulsa; 54 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held March 28 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial was at Okemah Cemetery.

Alene Tankersley
Alene Tankersley, 78, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. She was a member of University Baptist Church, Merry Hearts of UBC, Busy Bees Extension Club, Washington Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, Wycliff Bible Associates, Washington County Republican Women, National Republican Women and Prime Timers of Christian Life Cathedral. She sold Tupperware for many years and was an Avon distributor for 10 years. She worked For Campbell-Bell, Boston Store and Beale Ladyman. She and her husband sold their homegrown produce at the Fayetteville Farmer’s Market for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton.
Survivors include two sons, David Tankersley of Goshen and Mark Tankersley of Fayetteville; twin sister, Arlene Coplen of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Stacy Hutchins of Raleigh, N.C., Michelle Fahy of Tanworth, New South Wales, Australia and Jeremy Tankersley of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held April 4 at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Graveside service was held at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Beards Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

Melva Wages
Melva L. Wages, 67, of Fayetteville, died April 4, 2002. She was a cashier for Wal-Mart and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Springdale. She was formerly of Fort Smith.
Survivors include three sons, Tim Wages, Joseph Wages, Jr., both of Springdale, and Richard Wages of Fayetteville; two brothers, Leon Cawood, Ronnie Cawood, both of Springdale; four sisters, Della Mitchell, Linda Gorsline, Jane Truitt, all of Springdale and Alta Faye Lee of Topeka, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 8 at the First United Methodist Church of Springdale. Burial was held at the Centerton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Truitt, Tracy Truitt, Bob Mitchell, Joseph Wages, Jr., Dave Cawood, and Gary Cawood.
Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Wages.

Billy Allison
Billy Clay Allison, 69, of Roland, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Eufaula, Okla. He was a retired self-employed salesman and of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Church of Christ in Roland with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Brenda Watson of Van Buren and Linda Hannon of Fort Smith; two sons, Robert Allison of Van Buren and Billy Allison of Rogers; two stepsons, Danny Turner of Van Buren and Richard Turner of Roland; a sister, June Bay of Crescent, Okla.; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.
