Neomia Foreman
Neomia Foreman, 72, died Monday, July 26, in Helena Regional Medical
Center.
She was a resident of Aubrey and a housewife. She also was a member of
the Antioch M.B. Church, where she was a member of the church choir.
She is survived by her husband, James T. Foreman; four daughters,
Freddie Foreman, Beatrice James, Ossie Avant, and Alice Jones, all of
Marianna; six sons, James Lee, Roy Lee, Calvin, Harrison, Willie
Foreman, all of Marianna and Eddie B. Foreman of Wynne; two sisters,
Carrie Brown and Luvia Hargroove; one brother, Minor Henry; 36
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, at 11 a.m., at Antioch
M.B. Church with Rev. H. Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Antioch
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Deacons and sons.
Honorary pallbearers were the grandsons.
Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.
Harry Lovelace
Harry William Lovelace, 87, died Tuesday, November 30, in his home.
He was a resident of Phillips County and a farmer and carpenter.
He is survived by three sons, Alvin Lovelace and Joe Lovelace, both of
Rondo and Ruben Lovelace of Marianna; three daughters, Audria Mooneyhan
and Betty Sullivan, both of Rondo and Beatrice Jackson of Marianna; one
sister, Ruby Capiener of Hernando, MS; 16 grandchildren, 26
great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 3, at 10 a.m., at
Roller-Citizens Chapel, with Rev. Gene Craig officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Grady Nelson
Grady W. Nelson, 87, died Tuesday, November 30, at Crittenden Memorial
Hospital in West Memphis.
He was a resident of Moro and a retired farmer. He also was a member of
the Gospel Peace Tabernacle.
He is survived by his wife, Zadie Nelson of Moro; two sons, Hugh Nelson
of Brinkley and Billy Wayne Nelson of Moro; four grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 3, at 2 p.m., at the Gospel
Lighthouse with Rev. Phillip M. Nelson and the Rev. Buddy Herndon
officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro.
Pallbearers were Jason Dover, Brandon Dover, Joe Nelson, Norris Ray
Nelson, Faron Hamilton, Anthony Vondran and Pat Harris.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Mattie Smith
Mattie Elizabeth Smith, 89, died Saturday, December 4, at West Memphis
Retirement Home.
She was a resident of Memphis and a homemaker. She also was a member of
the First Christian Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Betty Lindsey and Charlotte Dodson,
both of West Memphis, Barbara Harrod of Sherwood and Jean Strode of
Memphis; one son, Clem "Chuck" Smith of Marianna; one brother, James
Harold Campbell of Memphis; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulis Eric Smith; two
daughters, Eula Bernice Smith and Shirley Springfield; and one son,
Gordon Franklin Smith.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 6, at 2 p.m., at the First
Christian Church with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial followed at
Marianna Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Lance Strode, Mike Lindsey, Heath Dorman, Clay Thomas,
John Thomas, Fred Harrod, Jr., Brian Smith and Brian Hampton.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Bobby Brown
Bobby G. Brown, 72, died Sunday, December 5, in his home.
He was a resident of Searcy and a farmer.
He is survived by one sister, Jennie Huff of Scottland, AR and two
brothers, Charlie Brown of Marianna and Jimmy Brown of Marked Tree.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, at 10 a.m., at
Roller-Citizens Chapel with Rev. Alan Brown officiating. Burial followed
at LaGrange Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Thomas Burns, George Jimmy Brown, Charlie Brown, Jr.,
Tim Brown, Jason Brown and W.D. Brown.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Vivian Jones
Vivian Hunt Jones, 94, died Saturday, November 27, in her home.
Formerly of Marianna, she was a resident of Memphis. She was a homemaker
and an active member of Covenant Baptist Church of Germantown. She also
was a member of Gideon's Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two stepsisters, Mildred McCarloy of Marion and
Marion Jenkins of Earle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Jones and one
daughter, Joanne Hunt.
Mary Standing
Mary Jackson Standing, 90, died Saturday, November 27, in her home.
She was born in Marianna, to the late Cordelia and H.M. Jackson,
founder, editor and publisher of the Courier-Index Before living in
Albany, Mrs. Standing was a high school teacher in Warren. She received
her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Arkansas in 1930
and worked for the Arkansas State Forestry Commission for eight years.
Mrs. Standing was an active member of the Unitarian Church, serving as a
member of the First Unitarian Women's Alliance and co-writing Glimpses
of Our Past, a church history, with her husband. For 14 years, she
worked as a sales correspondent for the Albany Felt Company.
She is survived by a daughter, Marianna Woolfe of Pittsboro, N.C.; a
sister, Julia Hughey of Marianna; one granddaughter; two grandsons and
two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore G. Standing and her
son, Theodore Standing, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, at 2 p.m., at
Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany Chapel.
Eddie Bryant, Jr.
Eddie Bryant, Jr., 67, died Saturday, November 27, at Helena Regional
Medical Center.
He was a resident of Rondo and retired from Clean Coveralls. He also was
a member of Sequell M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Earlene Bryant of St. Louis; his mother, Mae
Ella Lane of Rondo; one son, Pirie Bryant of St. Louis; one daughter,
Nikki Bryant of St. Louis; four sisters, Louise Smith and Ida White,
both of Rondo, Irene Fulcher of Aurora, CO, and Margaret Putman of
Ravenna; three brothers, Allen Bryant of Rondo, Johnny Bryant of Moro
and George Bryant of Inglewood, CA; and a stepmother, Earnestine Bryant
of Ravenna, OH.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, at 2 p.m., at Sequell
M.B. Church in Rondo with Rev. W.H. Howard officiating. Burial followed
at Sequell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Smith, Richard White, Roy White, Stanley Bryant,
Timmie White and Acent White.
Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.

Carrie Ellis
Carrie M. Ellis, 69, died Sunday, November 28, at Baptist Memorial
Hospital Central in Memphis.
She was a resident of Marianna and a member of New Bethel M.B. Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Lamie Gail of Little Rock, Debetta
Jo, Linda "Frostie" Pruitt, Katherine Denise and Donna Freeman, all of
Marianna; one brother, Ellison Fisher of Chicago; six grandchildren and
18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, at 11 a.m., at New
Bethel Church in Marianna with Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating. Burial
followed at Paradise Gardens Cemetery in Edmondson.
Pallbearers were Derrick Freeman, Marcus Porter, Lawrence Lee, Steven
Ester, DeAngleo Parker and Brenton Ellis.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of New Bethel Church.
