Maxine Dana Hendrix
Maxine Dana Hendrix, 54, of Rector died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born April 9, 1947, in Rector to the late Huley and Rosie Lloyd Dubar, she was a caregiver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Raymond, and by two grandsons, Shane Guffey and Joshua Guffey.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Hendrix of Rector; three daughters, Betsy Guffey of Moses Lake, Wash., Betty "Tooter" Taylor of New Jersey and Susan Potter of Piggott; one sister, Billie Lloyd of Hot Springs, and four grandchildren.
There are no services scheduled. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
John F. King
John F. King, 63, of Houston, Texas, husband of Rector native Karen (Calvin) King, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 18.
Mr. King was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Johnson City, Tenn. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, and served in the U.S. Army. He and his family moved in 1980 from Paragould to Houston, where he took the position of human resources director at Toshiba International. He continued there until he retired in 1995.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Karen (Calvin) King; five children, Collette Kristiana, John Robert, Pamela Beth and Shane Cody, all of Cypress, Texas, and Leah A. Adams of Jonesboro.
A memorial service for family members and friends was held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 28) at Cypress Bible Church in Cypress, Texas. In lieu of traditional floral remembrances, a memorial fund has been established for the future education of John King's children through Prosperity Bank, located in the Fairfield subdivision. Ruth Doty Simpson
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector for Ruth Doty Simpson, 84, of Athens, Tenn., who died Saturday, Dec. 22, at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. Jim McKeel will officiate.
A native of Pontiac, Mich., she was a daughter of the late John B. Doty Sr. and Hazel Wickware Doty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Simpson Jr., and was a member of the Church of Christ at Sweetwater since 1983. She served as a licensed practical nurse with the Dunklin County Memorial Hospital in Kennett and Paragould Community Hospital in Paragould for several years until her retirement.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca E. Love of Athens; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles D. Simpson of Athens, Robert M. and Marilyn Simpson of Ten Mile and Dr. Joseph E. and Katherine Simpson of Knoxville; four granddaughters, Sarah Whiteman, Rachel Chinchilla, Mika Davis and Marla Simpson, and one grandson, Greg Love.
Rubel Estis Anderson
Rubel Estis Anderson, 90, of North Little Rock, formerly of Rector, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
He was born Oct. 15, 1910, in Essary Springs, Tenn., to the late John Lee and Buleah Duncan Anderson. He grew up in Rector and graduated from Rector High School.
He was a member of Sixth and Izard Church of Christ and was retired from Midwest Farms.
His wife, Frances Reese Anderson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Beason of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Timothy and Mark Beason and Amy Beason Cheesman, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Gipson officiating. A graveside service and burial were at 5 p.m. at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
Memorials may be made to the Sixth and Izard Church of Christ or the Children's Home of Paragould.
