in Walker, N.Y. on August 2, 1922, he was 78. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert James Brice Sr.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps Air Force. He was a retired chemist and a member of the Frontier Petroleum Club. A former resident of Kentucky and Buffalo, N.Y., he had been a resident of Heber Springs for 17 years where he served in several local clubs and organizations including past president of the AARP, treasurer of the Cleburne County Historical Society, a driver for Meals on Wheels and a past member of the planning and zoning commission. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs where he served as Sunday school director.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mahota (Dubois) Brice, on January 20, 1999.
He is survived by one son, H. James Brice III and wife, Sandra, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one daughter, Sharon V. Green and husband, Doug, of Opelousas, La.; one brother, John Brice and wife, Beverly, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; one sister, Jo Ann Barber and husband, Tony, of Brockport, N.Y.; three grandsons, Jamie Green, Christopher Brice and Evan Brice and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held February 27 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
Foster Adams
Foster Harry "Bill" Adams of Owasso, Okla. died June 7, 2001. Born June 8, 1914 in Heber Springs, he was 86. He was the son of John Quincy and Helen Louise (Chesbro) Adams.
He marriage Hazel Loraine Pickens on August 23, 1938. He worked as a welder, was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Believers Covenant Church.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, E. Foster and Bonnie Ann Adams of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Katheryn Ruth Freeburg of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandsons, John Foster and Micah Shawn Adams; one granddaughter, Andrea Dawn Eldridge; four great grandchildren; two brothers, John and George Adams of Heber Springs and a sister, Ruth Kelly of Silsbee, Texas.
Funeral services were held June 11 at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, Okla. with Pastor Frank Adams officiating. Interment followed in Sandridge Cemetery in Collinsville, Okla.
Pallbearers were Foster Adams, John Adams, Donald Adams, Raymond Dodridge and Donald Eldridge.
Ryan Odell Adams
Ryan Odell Adams died November 18, 2001 at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Born on November 16, 2001, he was two days old. He was the infant son of Carl and Kimberly (Gay) Adams of Drasco.
His family is nondenominational.
He is survived by his parents, Carl and Kimberly Adams of Drasco; two brothers, Christopher Adams and Christian Adams of Drasco; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Gay of Drasco; his grandmother, Ann Adams of Ben; and his great grandmothers, Lorene Altom of Drasco, Avanell Gay of Heber Springs and Beatrice Nelson of Ill. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends of the family.
Funeral services were held November 20 in the Pleasant Ridge Union Church with Rev. Odell Altom officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Michael Gay and Tommy Adams served as pallbearers.
Hazel Merle Messenger
Hazel Merle Messenger, 92, died August 13, 2000 on her birthday. She was born in Cameron, W. Va. and was the daughter of the Late Wylie and Clara (Murphy) Johnson. She later moved to Spring Valley, N.Y., where she was employed by Lakeside School until her retirement in 1974. She moved to Jacksonville, Fla. at that time and lived there until coming to Fairfield Bay six years ago. She has been a resident of Indian Rock Nursing Home for the past one and a half years and was a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace messenger, and sisters, Helen Jetter and Lois Vitello.
She is survived by a brother, Glenn B. Johnson of Greers Ferry and his wife, Phe.
