Biographical And Historical Memoirs of Pulaski, Jefferson, Lonoke, Faulkner, Grant, Saline, Perry, Garland And Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas

Henry F. Seymore
Henry F. Seymore of Heber Springs died November 15, 2001, at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Born in Ida on December 5, 1912, he was 88. He was the son of the late L.L. and Ada (Soles) Seymore.
A lifetime resident of Cleburne County, he was a retired equipment operator for Rock Products, Inc. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Union Church at Ida.
He is survived by his wife, Emma (Kennedy) Seymore of Heber Springs; one son, Don E. Seymore Sr. of Heber Springs; two brothers, Delbert Seymore and Sherman Seymore, both of Heber Springs; three sisters, Lettie Rackley, Myrtle James and Mary Ann Clark, all of Heber Springs and one grandson, Don E. Seymore Jr. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held November 18 in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Ervin Clayton officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Ida. Pallbearers were Sonny Kennedy, Roger Kennedy, Milburn Southerland, Joe Spinks, Robert Warren and Freddie Nichols.

Olive Elizabeth Wilkinson
Olive Elizabeth Wilkinson died at her home on February 22, 2001. Born in Heber Springs on January 5, 1912, she was 89. She was the daughter of Lee and Daisy Allen Watters.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Firstborn which she joined on March 6, 1927. She lived her life in Cleburne County and enjoyed gardening, flowers and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wilkinson and one son, Charles Wilkinson.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Wilkinson of Wichita, Kan. and Troy Wilkinson of Heber Springs; two daughters, LaVerne Cline of Rio Linda, Calif. and Velma Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Eva Ward of Almyra, Agness West and Ocie Gilpin, both of Heber Springs; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held February 26 in the Olmstead Chapel by Lewis Manes and Lewis Garrett with interment in South Cross Roads Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Kearns, Henry Sloate, Harvey Sloate, Darrin Sloate, Carl Davis and Bud Moore.

Gussie Snell
Gussie "Pat" Mahon Snell of Heber Springs died November 16, 2001, at Lakeland Lodge Nursing Center. Born at Earle on March 23, 1907, she was 94. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Bertie Mahon.
She had lived in Cleburne County most of her life and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Snell on December 26, 1985 and one son, Jerry Neal on October 19, 1974.
She is survived by one daughter, Vivian Patchell and husband, T.E. of Heber Springs; grandson, Doug Patchell and wife, Dr. Allison Patchell of Heber Springs; great granddaughter, Cara Patchell of Heber Springs; one sister, Addie Young of Liberal, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held on November 19 in the Heber Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Stuart Cranford officiating.

Veston "Ves" Leon Southerland
Veston "Ves" Leon Southerland of Seneca, Mo. died December 17 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo. Born on April 13, 1921 in Wilburn, he was 80. He was the son of the late Samuel and Lucrecia Foust Southerland.
The extended Southerland-Foust family was musically inclined and as a young man, he and his brother and cousins performed in a gospel quartet which was well known in the Cleburne County area. He marriage his childhood sweetheart, Ruth Roberson, on August 15, 1943 in Wilburn. A graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, "Ves," as he was known to friends in Missouri, coached all sports and taught science and biology in schools in Goodman, Noel and Seneca, Mo. The 1960 Seneca Tiger Tales yearbook was dedicated to him. He was founder and first president of the Seneca Kiwanis Club, a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #247 in Neosho and was a past Master, a member of the Scottish Rites and Lions club in Goodman and Noel. After retirement, he was free to pursue his favorite pastimes of golf, practicing gospel music on his organ and watching his many bird feeders.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Manerva Caroline Southerland, Irene Southerland Hazelwood and Lorene Southerland Harral and one brother, Harvey Southerland.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Southerland; three sisters, Kate Southerland Magness of Heber Springs, Ruth Southerland Martin of Roosevelt and Naomi Southerland Stratton of Jacksonville, Miss.; one brother, Clinton Southerland of Searcy and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services were held at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens on December 20 with Rev. Dennis Powell officiating. Honorary pallbearers were nephews. Masonic Rites were held December 19. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cleburne County Historical Society or the Seneca R7 School Foundation in care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, PO Box 380, Seneca, Mo. 64865.
