Joyce Sadler
Joyce Meador Sadler, age 64, of Little Rock, widow of James Sadler, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000.
She was born December 24, 1935, in Wills Point, Texas, a daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Melba Fae Rucker Meador.
Mrs. Sadler was employed by Arkansas Science/Tech Authority and was a member and held various offices in the Business and Professional Women's Club. She has served as the project administrator of the Arkansas EPSCoR Program at the University of Arkansas, was planning manager for the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology, chemist for the State Crime Laboratory, and research technologist for the Department of Pharmacology and Psychiatry at University of Arkansas Medical Science.
Survivors include her brother, Monte Meador of Hattieville, nieces Vivica Meador of Chinle, Arizona, Michele Meador of Carson City, Nevada, and Tamara M. Capps of Hensley, Arkansas; and nephew, Scott Meador of West Lafayette, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence Jr., William, and George; and niece Monica.
Graveside services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Woolf Cemetery in Oppelo with the Rev. David Scroggin officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woolf Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
Clarence Imboden
Clarence A. Imboden, M.D., Fellow American College of Cardiology, 79, of Morrilton died Saturday, May 6, 2000.
He was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Morrilton, a son of Clarence A. Imboden Sr., and Landreth Baskerville Imboden.
Dr. Imboden served in the U.S. Naval Medical Corps Reserve during World War II and was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Notre Dame University and Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University. He served in public health for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Walton Imboden; sons, Gregory Imboden of Germantown, Md., and Paul Imboden of Greenville, Ala.; daughter, Clare Waters of Benton, Ill.; brother, Dr. John Imboden of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rosary was 7 p.m. Monday at the Harris Chapel. Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Thessing officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Henry Rohlman, Dr. Norman Gray, Ben Pinter, Bob Scroggin, Dr. Charles Wells, Harold Moll, Bernard Koch, and Charles Owens.
Thelma Johnson
Thelma Priba Johnson, age 84, died Sunday, April 30, 2000. She was born July 31, 1915, in Birta, Arkansas, a daughter of Albert C. and Dose Priba.
Thelma came to live with her brother in Morrilton when quite young and finished Morrilton High School in 1933, took a business course, and helped her brother who came to attend Harding Academy earlier. Cleo proceeded her in death, having died in 1998.
She marriage Cecil Austin Johnson and moved to California, living there 26 years, and moving back to Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1970. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock.
She is survived by a half-sister, Frances Troha of Kansas City, Missouri; a nephew, Paul Priba of Ponca City, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Helen Priba of Morrilton.
Luke Priba, another brother, died in 1984.
Howard Bomar
Howard Elford Bomar, 78, of Hockessin, Del., died April 4, 2000.
He was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Greenbrier, a son of Toy L. and Iona Stokes Bomar. He is a graduate of Philander Smith College and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a salesman and part owner of Bondol Laboratories. He retired in 1997. Mr. Bomar is the widower of Faustenia Bomar and a member of Union AME Church in Little Rock.
He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the National Association of Funeral Directors and Morticians.
Survivors include his daughter, Martia Lenor Bomar Good of Hockessin, Del.; one sister, Mildred Bomar Morgan of Chicago; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, April 14, 11 a.m. at Union AME Church in Little Rock. The Rev. Nathaniel C. Irving officiated. Burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery by Bell Memorial Chapel, Wilmington, Del., and Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home of Little Rock.
Pallbearers were Garman E. Freeman, Allie E. Freeman III, Dr. Charles Donaldson, Goforth Coleman, Dr. Lionel Ward, and Williams Bill Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers were Henry H. Hall, Tranny Arnold, officers of Bondol Laboratories, and National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association members.
