Dr. Rocco DeSalvo
Dr. Rocco Joseph DeSalvo, 96, of Waskom, Texas, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000.
He was born Nov. 11, 1903, in Center Ridge, a son of Luke and Beatrice DeSalvo.
He was the widower of Josephine Burks and Cecelia Ferricher.
He retired from the Amarillo, Texas, Independent School District as teacher and administrator.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, life member of the Elks Lodge No. 923, member of the Moose Lodge No. 2239 in Shreveport, La., member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1422 fourth-degree in Marshall, life member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, and life member of the Texas School Food Service Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Beatrice Oliver of Waskom, Texas; one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service was Oct. 12 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Kurian officiating, along with the Knights of Columbus of Marshall.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Center Ridge. Local arrangements were by Sullivan Funeral Home of Marshall, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Youth Scholarship Fund at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Waskom, Texas.
Lee Edwards
Lee A. Edwards, 63, of Conway died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000.
He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Conway, a son of George Thompson and Odessa Arnold Edwards. He was a retired nurse and Air Force veteran. He attended Zion Temple Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Emmer Jean Clemons Edwards; one son, Lee Edwards Jr. of Conway; three daughters, Carolyn Anderson of Rockhill, S.C., Barbara Trezvant and Regina Acklin, both of Conway; one brother, Larry Blakley of Conway, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Temple Church of God in Christ by Elder Frank Anderson Jr. Burial will be at Robinson Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Morrilton.
Family visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Acklin Funeral Home.
U.V. Housley
U.V. “Pete” Housley, 79, of Atkins died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000.
He was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Belleville, the son of Willie and Clara Rector Housley. He was raised by Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Rector. He was retired from Morton Frozen Foods. He was a Navy veteran. Mr. Housley attended Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at Scranton, and was a member of the Atkins Lodge No. 172, the Hector Lodge No. 497, a 32nd Degree Mason, Royal Arch, past Master at Atkins, and past Worthy Patron of Atkins Chapter No. 512 of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Reva Bowden Housley; two sons, William Housley of DeKalb, Miss., and James E. Housley of Hector; one daughter, Patsy Duvall of Atkins; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Lemley Funeral Chapel in Atkins by Elder H.D. Fulmer. Burial will be at Atkins City Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Pallbearers will be Roger Owen, Gary Turner, Don Ezell, Dale Mallett, Ray Owen, and Ragon Strawn. Honorary pallbearers will be Burl Trigg, Marvin Spicer and Tom Wald.
Memorials may be made to Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Marvin Spicer, 3018 Crossroad N., Scranton, Ark. 72863.
Goldia Campbell
Goldia Campbell, 76, of Casa died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000.
A daughter of the late Ed and Ollie Cline Rainey, she was born June 26, 1924, in Perry County. She was the widow of Odell Campbell.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Campbell of Casa; two daughters, Odean Hepp and Verna Mackey, both of Russellville; one brother, Edward Rainey of Pine Bluff; seven sisters, Marilyn Gillam and Alma Lou Dorsey of Perryville, Alice Moreland of Flint, Mich., Edna Eason of Illinois, Marge Norman of Jacksonville, Norma Klamm of Perry, and Nina Sue West of Rose Creek; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Shinn Chapel with Jackie Townsell and Rickey Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Aunt Dilly Cemetery near Casa, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Melvin Campbell, Rickey Mackey, Jamie Hepp, Jacky Hepp, Jimmy Hepp, Jerry Fitch, and John Fitch.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) at the funeral home in Russellville.
