Christopher Brent Karr, 30, of Yale, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Yale. He was a graduate of Oark High School and a member of Yale Church. Funeral services were Monday at 1 p.m. at Yale Church, with burial at Yale Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Johnny Harold Newhart
Johnny Harold Newhart, 76, of Charleston, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, Fort Smith. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. at Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Morris Cemetery at Bloomer, under the direction of Smith Mortuary.

Nina F. Council, 81, of Ratcliff, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Smith Mortuary Chapel, Charleston, with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, northwest of Caulksville.

Vernice D. Ledbetter, Sr., 66, of Hunt, died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Clarksville. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Cemetery at Hunt, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Walter Gorak, 91, of Ozark, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Ozark. Funeral services were Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Denis Cemetery, Lexington, Mich., at a later date.

George E. Duke, 76, of Jennings, Okla., formerly of Cass, died March 15, 2001, in Tulsa, Okla. Memorial services were held March 17 at Christ Fellowship Church in Oilton, Okla. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.

Word has just been received here of the death of Grace Opal Askew, 92, on Feb. 19, 2001, in Plainview, Texas. Born April 16, 1908, at Webb City, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Mary Lucinda Barham Young. She grew up near Ozark, and moved with her family to Washita County, Okla., in 1927. Funeral and burial were in Cordell, Okla.
