ROXANA ADAMS
Roxana Adams (nee Culpepper) was born March 26, 1859 in Bradley County, Ark. Roxie was
always gentle, sweet-spirited. In the family circle, there was a modesty that commended
her to the love and esteem of all. She was happily married to George Adams January 15, 1880.
She lived a consistent life till the day of her death which occurred Nov. 5, 1891. She was
always kind and courteous in her manner; her home was a happy one; her children bear the
impress of a Christian mother. She was perfectly resigned when the summons of death came.
Her last hour was crowded with prayer and praise, leaving a glorious evidence of her acceptance
from this to a happier mode of existence. She leaves an aged mother, three brothers, two sisters,
four children and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

PAULINE DARBY
Pauline, daughter of W. P. Darby and wife, was born at Kingsland, Ark., May 19, 1904; died at
Warren, Ark., August 23, 1908. The funeral service was held by Rev. C. W. Drake, assisted by
myself at Kingsland, August 24, 1908, at which place she was laid to rest. Little Pauline was
a regular attendant of the Sunday School at Warren, where she lived and was the light of the
home. She often told her little brother of God and Heaven. Seperation here seems severe. May
God comfort the sorrowing ones with the consolation that some sweet day they may all be
re-united in heaven.

S. A. JACKSON
Brother S.A. Jackson died at Vick, Ark., March 11, 1912 after an illness of
several weeks. His youngest child, Janie, preceded him to heaven two weeks
and his oldest daughter, Mrs. Alva Jackson Clanton was buried the morning
he died. Brother Jackson was a devout member of the Methodist church. His
home was the preacher's home. He was one of our best Sunday s superintendents.
The school near his country home has continued eleven years. Many of the
preachers on the old Palestine circuit will read these lines with sadness,
for all of us have shared his liberality. His body, by the side of his loved
Janie awaits the resurrection in Palestine cemetery. He was a life long
member of Palestine church. There his presence as a member and helper will
be sadly missed. His earnest prayers will no longer be heard. The voice
silenced in the grave. May out God so help the heartbroken widow, three
sons and one daughter, to live that there may be an unbroken family in the
clime of endless day.

SIS D. M. JOHNSON
Sister D.M. Johnson was born in Carrol Co., Tenn., Dec. 11, 1819; professed
religion and joined the M.E. Church in 1836; was married to Bro. Stephen
Johnson, January, 1841, and came with him to Dorsey co., Ark., in 1850,
where she has lived until called to her home above, Dec. 9th, 1884. The
writer made her acquaintance in 1871. When a stranger, he went to that part
of Warren circuit and was received by Sister Johnson in her home with a
warm greeting as P.C. of the circuit. Many a weary itinerant has found a
place of rest and received encouragement by her kind hospitality and
cheering words. Sister Johnson has brought her children up to love the
Church and religion and they have become religious as they grew up to
maturity. She was a great sufferer in her protracted illness, but bore
her sufferings without a murmur and often gave positive assurance of her
confidence in her Savior -- asked all the family to meet her in heaven.
She is at rest. Her bereaved companion is left to suffer a little longer.
He has the prayers of many ministers and brethren, who know him, that he
may be sustained and cheered to the end. The Master will soon say to him,
"Come up higher." I trust the children will all follow in the footsteps
of father, and all meet where separations never come.

L. H. CURRY
L. H. Curry of Rye, Rowell Charge, died Dec. 30, and was buried at Union, Jan. 1. Bro.
Curry was a member of the Methodist Church at Union. His good companion had preceded
him to the good world 12 years ago. Bro. Curry kept their children at home and raised
a nice family of seven children, four boys and three girls. One of the boys is married
and he and his wife are going to live with the children and keep the family together.
May our good Heavenly Father keep these children under the hollow of His hand and
finally bring them to father and mother in the glory world.
MRS. S. E. BARNETT
Died of pneumonia, May 14, 1889, S. E. Barnett the wife of F. Barnett, at their home in
Cleveland co., Ark. She was very violently attached from the exordium, and the malignancy of
the disease continued to the final termination, notwithstanding every available effort was used
by her many relatives and friends and her physician to arrest the rapid and destructive strides
of her disease. Mrs. Barnett was born January 5, 1847, in Jackson Parish, La. She was baptized
in infancy. She became a member of the M. E. Church South, early in life and lived a consistent
Christian life. She united herself to the same branch of the church after removing to Cleveland
co., Ark., in 1869, under the pastorate of Rev. E. Ware. She is gone to Jesus whom she testified
repeatedly during her severe illness that she had trusted. It is a severe trial to witness the
victory of death over our race one by one, yet to behold as I did and many others in the very
act of dissolution of Mrs. Barnett, how cool, calm and self-possessed she was, then confronting
grim Death - - such a scene, at least to me, is as indeed a buoyant inspiration of hope and a
glorious excitant to renewed faith in Jesus our Lord and Master, who gives the victory, "Blessed
are they that die in the Lord." Such a scene to me is indeed a feast of which I have been
eye-witness many times. Mrs. Barnett's remains were interred in Shady Grove cemetery.
