Francis L. Schlude, Sr., 87, of Midway, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002.
He was a veteran of the US Navy after 30 years of service. Member of retired Naval Officers Association Awards presented to him included: Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Asiatic-Pacific Area), Korea Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco, Knights of Columbus and Massachusetts Board of Realtors. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph P. and Anna (Niefnecker) Schlude.
Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 in the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco with burial in the St. Benedict cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M Schlude of Midway; one son Francis "Frank" Schlude, Jr. of Midway; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gene Shelby
Gene Shelby, 83, of Charleston, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.
He was a retired auto parts salesman. He was born March 23, 1919 in Branch to Vel Shelby and Grace Gifford Shelby.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Smith Mortuary Chapel with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife Rose of the home; one brother, Earl Shelby of Fort Smith; and numerous nephews and one niece.
Pallbeaers were Mark, Rick and Gary Shelby, Warren Hutchins, Buddy Hug, and Jess McDougal.
Adrene Farley
Adrene Louise Farley, 69, of Garden Grove, Calif. died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.
She was a retired clerk. She was preceded in death by brother, Edward Hellmer
Burial service was at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Anna, Calif.
She is survived by three sons, James Farley of Moreno Valley, Calif., Stephen Farley of Long Beach, Calif., and Philip Farley of Paso Robles, Calif.; one brother, Farnk Hellmer; three sisters, Lillian Murphy, Martha Love, and Molly White Alillo; and four grandchildren.
Mary Einert
Mary Margaret Einert, 70, of Ozone, died Oct. 29, 2002.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Ozone Full Gospel Chuch. She was preceded in death by parents James Toots Garland and Lindell Brussell Tinsley and stepmother Tina Tinsley.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Mt. Vernon cemetery in Clarksville unde the direction of Roller Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville. The Rev. James Simons officiated.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Einert; one son, Jim Einert of Ozone; three sisters, Helen Marie Tinsley of Texas, Carolyn Kay Fields of Lamar, and Wanda Sue Thurmond of Texas; and three grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Donald Carey and Jake Bailey.
Fay "Foots" Needham
Fay H. "Foots" Needham, 96, of Paris, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.
He was born Aug. 20, 1906 in Dublin, was a 1927 graduate of New Blaine High School and co-owner of Kelton Needham Motor Co., and a retired automobile salesman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Daye Needham; parents, Sydney Needham and Nellie (Cravens) Needham; sister, Lois Needham Howard; three brothers, John, Troy and Russell Needham.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in Oakwood cemetery of Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. Officiated by Rev. Don Eubanks and Fr. Herbert Vogelpohl, O.S. B.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, JaNelle Needham Baker and Gordon A. "Butch" Baker of Paris; two granddaughters, Shona R. Baker of Paris and Kebra M. Baker of Fayetteville; one great-grandson, Cody Allen Baker Lukas; and one sister, Joy Needham Hill of Paris.

Jordan Grist
Jordan Grist, 13, of Paris, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.
She was born Sept. 22, 1989 in Fort Smith. She was an eighth grade student at Paris Middle School, a member of the Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Paris Junior High Dance Team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Annual Staff. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Martha Tillery; great-grandparents, Mose and Gracie Grist; great-grandmother, Elizabeth Kearney and great-grandfather, Hanvy Timmons.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at the First Baptist Church of Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. Burial was at Raney cemetery in Paris with the Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating.
She is survived by parents, Wayne and Christy Lynn Grist of the home; one sister, Lacey Whitman of the home; grandparents, Gail and Cecil Grist of Paris, Jack Tillery of Booneville, and Joe and Jenny Kearney of Paris; and great-grandmother, Mildred Timmons of Paris.

Charles Thornton
Charles A. Thornton, 74, died Oct. 28, 2002.
He was born March 10, 1928 in Paris. He served in the Navy post World War II from 1946-48. He was a bricklayer with the Arizona Bricklayer Union Local #3 for over 25 years.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at Camelback Sunset Chapel in Phoenix, Az.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine R. Thornton of Phoenix, Az.; five daughters, Katherine E. Rike of Parks, Az., Sandra D. Larkins of Phoenix, Az., Brenda G. Davis of Phoenix, Az., Charlene S. Ferman of Phoenix, Az., and L. Michelle Meeks of Farmington, N. M.; one son, James C. Thornton of Phoenix, Az.; two sisters, Agnes Huckaby of Paris, and Mildred (Babe) O'Kelley of Paris; one brother, J. W. Thornton of Fort Smith; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandparents.

W. A. Waldon
W. A. Waldon, 71, of Scranton, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.
He was born Sept. 19, 1931 in Bridgeport, Tex. He was a Baptist, a 40 year member of I.B.E.W. Local 611, Albuquerque, N.M., a member of VFW Post 8383, a member of the United States Marine Corp, and a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the construction business. He was preceded in death by his parents John Brady Waldon and May (Oliver) Waldon.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel of Paris with burial in Prairie View cemetery in Prairie View under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Waldon of Scranton; one son, Ron Waldon of Houston, Tex.; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were Jason Waldon, Pat Maher, Chuck Mahar, Glen Adams, Rick Turman and David Turman.

Frank Kremer
Frank A. "Bud" Kremer, 87, of Scranton, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002.
He was a farmer and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton. He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Mary (Spanel) Kremer; two sisters, Agnes (Kremer) Henderson and Margaret (Kremer) Valentine; two brothers, James Kremer and Stevo Kremer.
Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Roller Chapel in Paris.
Mass was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton with burial in the Ware's Chapel cemetery in Dublin under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve (King) Kremer of Scranton; one step-daughter, Melba (Dooley) Snow of Scranton; one son, Monty F. Kremer of Scranton; one sister, Marie (Kremer) Anhalt of Houston, Tex.; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
