James Kenneth Williams, 70, of Charleston, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002.
He was born April 10, 1932 in Paris to James Dover William and Reba Lucille Price Williams. He was a Baptist and a retired repairman for Baldor Electric. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Paul Ray Williams.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Branch Assembly of God Church with burial at Oakwood cemetery in Paris under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
He is survive by his wife Loretta Williams of the home; one daugher, Cindy Williams Watson of Branch; two sisters, Rebecca Stephens of Scranton, and Catherine Core of Boron, Calif.
Pallbearers were David and Jimmy Stephens, William Nehus, Richard and Raymond Watson, and Mike Frost.
Patsy Gilbert
Patsy Ruth Gilbert, 66, of Paris, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel of Paris with burial in Oakwood cemetery in Paris.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Dale "Blackie" Gilbert of Paris; one daughter, Patti Lynn Goodson of Fort Smith; two sisters, Wilene Rogers of Fort Smith, and Dorothy Horne of Paris; four brothers, Wayne and Pete Appleton both of Paris, and Harold and Leon Appleton both of California; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Jamie Wells, David Weeks, Larry Gilbert, Ralph Goodson, Jim Rogers and Tim Sercomb.
Michael Emberson
Michael William Emberson, 39, of Magazine, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Magazine.
Funeral service were at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at First Baptist Church with burial at Ellington cemetery in Magazine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Valrie Brownlee Emberson of the home; one son, Charley Micha Emberson of Magazine; mother, Molly Emberson of Magazine; two sisters, Diane Beggs of Magazine, and Dottie Beggs of Driggs; and one brother, Jamie Emberson of Magazine.

G. S. Council
G. S. "June" Council, 80, of Charleston, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002.
He was born June 1, 1922 in Ratcliff to Albert R. Council and Lennie B. O'Neal Council. He was a World War II veteran, a Protestant, and a retired Fire Control Instrument repairman. He was preceded in death by his wife Lenora Council and one daughter, Linda Hogan.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at Smith Mortuary Chapel with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Sellers of Shawnee, Okla., and Mary Sullivent of Edmont, Okla.; one son, L. R. Council of Ratcliff; two sisters, Eula Mae Spicer of Scranton, and Norma Brown of Ratcliff; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Justin Duerr
Justin Jacob Duerr, 90, of Subiaco, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002.
He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Subiaco and of United Miner Workers. He was preceded in death by parents, Bill J. and Helen (Wilhelm) Duerr; son, Joe Duerr; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.
Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
He is survived by wife, Ann M. (Schoen) Duerr of Subiaco; three daughters, Doris Ann Dobbs, of Tulsa, Okla., Helen Marie Hays of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Mary Frances Wooton, of Wamego, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arlis Dotson, Sr.
Arlis F. Dotson, Sr., 80, of Subiaco, died Monday, July 29, 2002.
He was a retired sales manager for a farm equipment company and a member of Midway Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of World War II, in the European Theater of the war and graduated from Paris High School in 1940 and attended Freed Hardiman College in Henderson, Tenn. He was a member of the VFW Post 8383. He was preceded in death by parents, Colonel and Deloris (Mullins) Dotson and brother, John Paul Dotson.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Midway Assembly of God Church with burial in the Horn cemetery in Midway under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by six daughters, Dana Proffer of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dorothy Overman of Flint, Mich., Suzy Perinne of Las Vegas, Nev., Dejon Kincer of Schertz, Tex., Diano Debolt of Midwest City, Okla., and Debbie Otto of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Arlis Dotson, Jr., of Davison, Mich.; two sisters, Atha M. Inman and Anna Smedley both of Clarksville; one brother, Ray Dotson, of Monett, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Clara Lowe
Clara Jones Lowe, of Lakewood in North Little Rock, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002.
She was a retired school teacher having taught at Paris and at Lakewood Elementary in North Little Rock. She was a graduate of Arkansas Polytechnic College (Arkansas Tech University) at Russellville and Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway. She sold real estate on weekends and during the summer. After retirement she was a regular volunteer at North Little Rock Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Ambassadors Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband Sylvan Lowe.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Elizabeth Hall cemetery in New Blaine under the direction of North Little Rock Funeral Home.
She is survived by a nephew and three nieces.

Kenneth Bocksnick, 70, of New Blaine, died Wednesday, July 30, 2002.
He attended First Baptist Church in Delaware was a US Veteran and member of Post 2283 Rogers-Rye Post. He was preceded in death by parents, Gus Henry and Anna Jeanette (Hickey) Bocksnick.
Memorial service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at First Baptist Church in Delaware. The cremation is under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Johnston, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one son, Mark Bocksnick, of Westminister, Calif.; one brother Robert Bocksnick, of Russellville; two grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Merle Jacobs
Merle M. Jacobs, 91, of Hunt, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 in Paris.
She was a retired postmaster of U.S. Postal Service, in Hunt. She was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church in Hunt and a member of the Eastern Star, National Association of Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by parents L.E. and Emma (Tearsdale) Noe and husband Argus M. Jacobs; one son, Phillip M. Jacobs; two sisters, Louise Kitchens, and Loraine Thorton; and one brother, Robert Noe.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 in Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church with burial in the Liberty Hill cemetery in Hunt with the Rev. Burley King officiating, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Jacobs, of Alexander; and E. L. Jacobs, of Paris; one sister, Gladys Douglas, of Austin, Tex.; two brothers, Lewis Noe and A.P. Noe both of Austin, Tex., four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildre.
Pallbearers were Harley Parker, Vernon Jones, Mike Jacobs, John Newton, Jamie Ledbetter, and Donnie Davidson.
Honorary pallbearer was Phillip Truman Jacobs.

Alton Askins
Alton Jervis (A.J.) Askins, 50, of Subiaco died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 in Heber Springs.
He was a mechanic at Clarksville Refrigerated Line and a rancher. He was a former member of the Arkansas Funeral Directors, and former manager and co-owner of Cox Funeral Homes. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Askins and father, A.C. "Bud" Askins.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug 5 at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville with burial at McKendree cemetery North of Subiaco the Rev. Amos Pledger officiated under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Ann Cowie of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one son, Aaron Askins of Fort Smith; mother, Anna Mae Askins of Paris; three sisters, Kay Hibbs of Subiaco, Angel Fransisco of Tulsa, Okla., and Karla Lukins of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Ronnie Askins of Scranton; and two grandchildren.
