Misty Milynn Henson Johnson, 28, of Lavaca died Monday, May 27, 2002 in Webbers Falls, Okla.
She was born March 8, 1974 in Fort Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Paris. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a pharmacist tech at Rose Drug Store in Paris.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Paris. Burial followed at Oakwood cemetery in Paris under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her parents, Hursel and Linda Henson, of Paris; three sisters, Teresa Schluterman and Shelly Henson, both of Paris and Heather Dronet of Lafayette, La.; two brothers, Bobby Buck of Ozark and Matt Henson of Paris; nieces and nephews, Abel Henson, Dylon and Zach Farnam, Tyrel Kincannon, Tess Henson and Fawn Henson; a great niece and nephew: Gavin Shae Henson and Charm Henson.
Pallbearers were Dylan and Zach Farnam, Abel Henson, Brian Holzman, Steve and Kendall Core, Kyle Mainer and Kevin Quinter.
Honorary pallbearers were Lisa Jarrard, Patty Huber, Susan Chambers, Kisha Hughes, Missy Mertin, Angie Sharum, Tara Heft, and Rhonda Street.
Shae Johnson
Shae Nicole Johnson, 3, of Lavaca died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Webbers Falls, Okla.
She was born Aug. 12, 1998 in Fort Smith.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Paris. Burial followed at Oakwood cemetery in Paris under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Hursel and Linda Henson of Paris and her paternal grandmother, Juanita Brown Johnson, also of Paris.
Delsia Brown
Delsia Vera Brown, 94, of Paris, died Sunday, May 19, 2002.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Booneville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edgar and Drew (Lamer) Johnson, and husband, Joe Brown.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial in Oakhill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by five daughters, Lorine Anderson, Betty Crossno, Juanita Kizer, and Peggy Wright all of Paris, and Jimmie Elsken of Hot Springs; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Albert Smith, Byron Lassiter, Joshua Brown, Rickey Wright, Daniel Wilder, Mark Willhite, William "Bill" Elsken.
Ruth Blalock
Ruth Blalock, 81, of Charleston, died on Thursday, April 25, 2002 in Charleston. She was a retired nurses aid at Greenhurst Nursing Home and a member of the Catcher Free Will Baptist Church at Van Buren. She was born on March 3, 1921 in Greenwood to Walter and Effie Wilson Mason. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Lyndell Dale; husband, Delma Eugene Blalock and son, Edward Eugene Blalock.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2002 at Branch Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Newton and Rev. Carl Newton officiating. Burial followed at Parks cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
She is survived by five daughters, Nadene Forbes and Patricia Sykes, both of Charleston, Veda Ashing of Spiro, Okla., Darlene McCombs of Booneville and Pamela DeMatto of Branch; two sons, Raymond Blalock of Charleston and Glen Blalock of Pine Bluff; one sister, Benettia Alverson of Van Buren; one brother, Jess Mason of Sallisaw, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Ashing, Gene Edward Blalock, Danny Smith, Jason McCombs, Scott McCombs and Heath DeMato.
Beverly Mickey
Beverly Lorraine (Lewis) Mickey, 69, of Ratcliff died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Fort Smith.
She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton I. and Eva Mae (Whington) Lewis; a brother, Manley Lewis; and a sister, Tura Lee Lewis.
A graveside service was conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Lone Pine cemetery in Clarksville, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Mickey, of Ratcliff; four daughters, Roberta Mickey Doolan of Paso Robles, Calif., Tura Lee Mickey Fowler of Muskogee, Okla., Bobbie Joe Mickey Richardson of Clarksville and Eva Mickey Shepherd of Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters, Elenore Lewis Berggren of Oregon and Collette Lewis Stevens of Calif.; two brothers, Rance Lewis and Truman Lewis, both of Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tony Fowler, Billy Ritchie, Che' Zuniga, Fred Probst, Jeff Howard, and Tyler Hopkins. Honorary pallbearer was Jason Johnson.
Susan Hodgson
Susan Lynn Hodgson, 56, of Booneville, died Friday, May 3, 2002.
She was born Jan. 9, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Cocoa Beach High School, in Florida in 1964. She graduated from the University of Dayton in 1967 and taught elementary school in Dayton, Clark Air Base, Philippines, Booneville and Fort Smith. She was active in the Booneville Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband Gerald Hodgson of Booneville; daughter, Stephanie Hodgson of Taos, N.M.; one son, Lt. Gregory Hodgson, United States Navy of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two sisters, Patti Barker of Akren, Ohio, and Melinda Jenkins of Chester; aunt, Wilma Evens; friend, Donna Hunt of Booneville.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts Chapel in Booneville. The body was cremated under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home and her ashes will be buried in a private family service. She requested that memorials be sent to the Booneville Library in lieu of flowers.
Cora Burt
Cora Mae Burt, 87, of Paris, died Saturday, May 4, 2002.
She was a homemaker a member of Six Mile Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Louis Burt and Suela Clyde Grist Burt; sisters, Gracie Girst, Lucille Burt and Virginia Watts; brothers, Brady Burt and Harley Ray Burt.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church, Subiaco with burial in McKendree cemetery in Subiaco under the direciton of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by six nephews; three nieces and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Evan Green, Kendall Poe, William Grist, Clayton Grist, Rex Huffington and Reggie Grist.
Virginia Whitman
Virginia Sue Whitman, 63, of Paris, died Thursday, May 2, 2002.
She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, George and Oma (McElhaney) Schouweiler; sister, Gladys Hatwig.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6 at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial in Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by one stepson, Billy Whitman of Oklahoma; two sisters, Debbie Phillips and Pat Sampley of Paris; one step-granddaughter, Volarie Whitman of Oklahome.
Pallbearers were Gary Wagner, Phillip Baggett, Gary Phillips and Clayton Canada.
Christopher Bowles
Christopher Jackson Bowles, 13 months, of Fort Smith, died May 1, 2002.
He was the infant son of Gene Jr. and Crystal Bowles of Fort Smith.
Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph cemetery in Paris under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by parents, Gene and Crystal Bowles, Jr. of Fort Smith; paternal grandparents and step, Gene and Rachelle Bowles, Sr. of Pocola, Okla.; paternal grandmother, Pam Bowles of Fort Smith; maternal grandparents and step, Acel and Jody Honey of Conway, maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Cindy and Jeff Thrift of Cabot; great-grandparents, Hurchel and Glenda Bowles of Paris, Aolis and Evelyn Edelhuber of Paris, Noble and Nola Reece of Cabot, and Basel Honey of North Little Rock.
Velta Tyler
Velta Virginia (Corley) Tyler, 83, of Fort Smith, died Sunday, April 21, 2002.
She graduated from Ratcliff High School in 1936, attended Arkansas Tech graduating in 1938 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics, graduted from the University of Arkansas in 1940. Taught school in Flippin, and Ratcliff before moving to Oregon. Taught in Vanport City, Ore., teaching at Darby Junior High and Fairview Grade School. She taught in tthe Fort Smith School district for 35 years retiring in 1980. She was a life time member of the Cole's Chapel United Methodist Church, Branch, and a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, Logan County Historical Society and active in helping sponsor 4-H Clubs in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by parents, William Jackson and Emma (Scherer) Corley; and husband, Dannie Tyler and brother, Hansford Corley.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 in the Cole's Chapel United Methodist Church in Branch burial was at Cole's Chapel cemetery in Branch under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by one sister, Zelma Ostendorf of Fayetteville; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Bill Tyler, Lyndle Thacker, Steven Russell, Jack Ostendorf, Herman Tyler, Bob Scherer, Vernon Corley.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Sherwin, Bobby Corley, and Sanford Corley.
