Dessie Stubblefield Taylor, 99, of Cecil, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002.
She was born Sept. 16, 1902 in Branch to Thomas Wesley Stubblefied and Ardella Sharp Stubblefield. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cecil Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Jeptha Taylor.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Cecil Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Vern Wilson. Burial was at Lowes Creek north of Branch under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by three daughters, Vera Jean White of Cecil, Tommie Brophy of Gambrills, Md., and Carolyn Ford of Cecil; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joseph and Taylor Ford, Jonathan Chambers, Michael Taylor Innes, Jeptha White and David Cole.
Dewey Beck
Dewey Beck, of Cushing, Okla. died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was born on April 22, 1922 in Logan County to the late Vernon Beck and Thelma Biggs Beck.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Davis Funeral Home in Cushing, Okla. A second service was held at the Paint Rock Church on Thursday, Feb. 7 officiated by Darien Downs burial followed at Paint Rock Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Beck; one son, Robert Beck of Cushing, Okla.; and one sister, Winona Roberts of Magazine.
Geneva Hammond
Geneva Hammond, 85, of Charleston, died Saturday, March 9, 2002.
She was born April 21, 1916 in Booneville to John Earl Womack and Antonia Russell Womack. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Charleston Chapter 16 and the Potts Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Hammond.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Smith Mortuary Chapel officiated by Rev. J. L. Bonds with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by one son, James Hammond of Charleston; four granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Karl and Karl Mark Potts, Mike and Michael Stiles and Brian and Bruce Womack.

George Ryan
George Carroll Ryan, 71, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002.
He was a farmer and rancher. He was acting OIC at the Blue Mountain Post Office. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He studied electrical engineering at Arkansas Tech University at Russellville and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a member of Little Vine Primitive Church, on the South Logan County Fair Board, a member of National Brangus Association, and very active with county and district livestock shows and fairs. He was an exhibitor for 55 years at the Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show. He maintained the Blue Mountain cemetery and served as a member of the cemetery Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Ryan.
He is survived by three sisters, Gene Hurst of Cotter, Grace Calva of Blue Mountain, and Joan Ryan of Little Rock.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 28 at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church, Blue Mountain officiated by Elder James Isaacs and Rev. Bill Storts with interment at Blue Mountain cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
Pallbearers were Coleman Byrd, R.H. Johnson, L.D. Lee, Bobby Mizell, Bill Dorrough, Kenneth Ridenhour, Curtis Storts and Jerry Wooley.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlotte Johnson, Juanita Lee, Lillie Gordon, Evelyn Ryan, Sonya Gray, Victoria Coffman and Melody Parsley.

Eva Wade
Eva Lea Sorey Wade, 74, of Paris, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002.
She attended the First Methodist Church of Paris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Pearl (Dixon) Young, and brother, Holman Young.
She is survived by four children, Danny Sorey, Gary Sorey, Curtis Sorey and Mary Ann Reed all of Paris; two sisters, Leona Ebarb of Charleston, and Reba Mantooth of Vesta; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. at Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris burial was at McKendree cemetery in Paris.
George Hill
George J. Hill, 95, of Branch, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
He was born Nov. 27, 1906 in Effa known today as Branch. He was a farmer and a member of the Branch First Baptist Church.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Branch First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Williamson officiating with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston.
He is survived by one son Reuben Duane Hill of Charleston; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dwight Cole, Sonny Cole, Allen Hales, Sr., Allen Hales, Jr., Allen King and Carl Miesner.

Mildred Irene Kenton, 74, of Scranton, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
She was a homemaker. She attended Holiness Church in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Kenton and parents, Thomas Jefferson and Mayoma (Palmer) Pridgin.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial at McKendree cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by one daughter, Marsha Buck of Paris; three brothers, T. J. Pridgin of Scranton, Johnny Pridgin and Ivo Pridgin of Penole, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James Griffin
James Phillip Griffin, 67, of Prairie View, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002.
He was disabled and retired as document control analyst for aerospace, had a small engine repair business, former Boy Scout leader and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Griffin of Prairie View; one daughter, Linda Hogan of Paris; one sister, Rowena Boomgarden of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Edward Griffin of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4 at Prairie View United Methodist Church under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Irene McInturf
Irene Margaret McInturf, 86, of Fort Smith died Friday, March 1, 2002, in Fort Smith.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Immaculate Conception.
Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Beshoner of Scranton and Sister Camilla Krallman, O.S.B., of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Harry and Bill Beshoner, Larry and Ricky Krallman, Don Mitchum and Johnny Donberger.
