Charles Lee Stevens, 78, of Melbourne, Arkansas entered into rest on March 29, 2012 at his residence.
Charles was born February 16, 1934 at Sylamore, Arkansas to John Edward and Flora Mae (Pitts) Stevens. He was employed as a barber before his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Twin Creek. He was avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Alene (Smith) Stevens of the home; son, Michael Stevens of Melbourne; daughters, Vickey Douthit and husband Bob of Lowell, Ark., Connie Harp and husband Bill of Springdale, Ark. and Crystal Byrd of Mtn. View; one granddaughter and six grandsons, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Benny Stevens, Larry Stevens, Bob Stevens and J.T. Stevens and a sister, Joyce Carlton and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flora Stevens; three brothers, Edward, Earnest and Conway Stevens and a sister, Gladys Engles.
Memorial service was 2 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at the First Assembly of God Church, Mountain View. Bro. Donald Gillihan and Brother Tim Woolridge officiated.

Virginia Louise Mitchell Grantz, of Oxford, daughter of the late Marvin Virgil Mitchell and Bessie Ruth Spencer Mitchell, was born April 27, 1932 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She departed this life March 26, 2012 in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Nelson Homer Grantz on December 20, 1961 in Enid, Oklahoma. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Faye Grantz of Batesville; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Regina and Robert Sailer of Denton, Texas, Deborah Gann of Horseshoe Bend, Janice Redington of Batesville, and Susan and Gerald Rorie of Oxford; one brother: Richard Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 32 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one daughter: Julie Vallier.
Funeral service was Wednesday, March 28, at 10 a.m. at Oxford United Methodist Church with Bob Coleman officiating. Burial was at Oxford cemetery under the direction of Eddie s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Talmon Hutson, John Taylor, Glen Everett, Junior Majors, Bill Martin, Carl Bretthaeur, Bobby Coleman.
James Lynn Sherrell, 81, of East Wenatchee, WA, passed away March 6, 2012, surrounded by his family. Jim was the youngest of three children born to Arvin and Dulcie (Cooper) Sherrell, on a farm in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas on September 12, 1930.
The family moved to Franklin, where he attended school at Violet Hill. In 1939, the family moved to Monitor, WA. Jim was an avid basketball player and wanted to play high school basketball in Arkansas. His parents wintered two seasons in Oxford. The rest of his high school time was spent with a wonderful couple named Branson and Edna Tatum.
Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served four years in California, Korea, Piney Point, MD and Washington D.C. In 1954, he married
June Sexton in Oxford. Upon discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1955, he moved to Wenatchee, WA, where he worked in the fruit industry for a few years. In 1960, he owned and operated Midland Trucking. In 1966, he married
Donna (Falkenberg) Collins. Together, they had one son, Jimmy. Jim left Wenatchee in 2001 to explore his stomping grounds in Arkansas for four years, then returned to Wenatchee.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Jimmy (Paula) Sherrell; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jade, Brynn and Nate Sherrell; step-daughter, Staci (Duffy) Dukette; and grandchild, Cameron Duoos. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Joann Sherrell; niece, Jan (Bob) Simons; and newphew, Lee (Brenda) Sherrell. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Sherrell and Howard Sherrell; and a step-son, Troy Collins.

Phyllis Ann Walters was born in Decatur, Illinois on April 2, 1933, daughter of Joseph Berton and Evelyn (Harrison) Stuckey. She departed this life on Monday, March 25 at her home in Horseshoe Bend at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 23 days.
She was united in marriage to Byron Barney Walters on April 15, 1951, at Pocahontas. She was owner/operator of Phyl s Barntiques in Horseshoe Bend for 20 years and sang in the original Horseshoe Blenders and was a member of the Horseshoe Bend First Baptist Church.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Barney; daughter, Cinda Walters Walker of Fairfield Bay; three sons, Mark Walters (Pam) of Abilene, Texas, Terry Walters (Cheryl) of Pana, Illinois, and Craig Walters (Lori) of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Todd Walters, Shane Walker, Brandon Walker, Joshua Walters, Whitney Walters, Katie O Donnell and Quentin Walters; ten great grandchildren, Ashlyn Walters, Garin Walters, Payton Walters, Luke Walker, Ben Walker, Kai Hudson Walker, Jonathan Walters, Max Walters, Simon Walters and Mayah Chanda; two sisters, Elaine Gilmore of Malvern and Joan Etherton, of Mt. Zion, Illinois; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded by one son, Scott, parents, Joseph and Evelyn Stuckey and one brother, James.
Funeral services were held at Horseshoe Bend First Baptist Church, Horseshoe Bend at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28. Pallbearers were Todd Walters, Joshua Walters, Shane Walker, Tyler O Donnell, Brandon Walker and Quentin Walters. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois, on Friday, March 29.

Linsey Boyd Morris, formerly of Brockwell, passed away September 12, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 74. Linsey Morris was born August 28, 1938 to Clarence and Dollie Sanderson Morris, the youngest of 16 children. Preceding him in death were his parents, one son: Linsey James Morris; four brothers; 11 sisters and two grandchildren.
Mourning his passing are: Mary Morris of Melbourne and their children: Marshall Morris of Oxford; five daughters: Nell Masters of Melbourne, Mary Sanders of Missouri, Annie Morris of Brockwell, Dolly Wood of Oxford and Sarah Vaile of Oxford. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral service was held Saturday, September 22 at 2 p.m. at Owens cemetery under the direction of Eddie s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

David Alan Beaver, 73, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on May 20, 1939, in Lisbon, Iowa, son of Everett Wilson and Doris Ann (Mason) Beaver He passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012, at his residence.
David was united in marriage to Paula Gail McCollum on March 5, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as an automobile mechanic and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
David is survived by his wife, Paula Gail Beaver of Horseshoe Bend; two sons, Paul David Beaver and Chris Alan Beaver of Horseshoe Bend; one granddaughter, Paige Daniele Beaver of Horseshoe Bend, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.

U.S. Veteran Nicholas Allen Bailey, of Franklin, Arkansas, son of Rita White Bailey and the late Neal Bailey and grandson of the late Vernie Bailey and Barney Joe White, was born September 21, 1979 in Calico Rock. He departed this life September 2, in Horseshoe Bend, at the age of 32 years and 12 days.
Bailey was a 1988 graduate of Izard County Consolidated High School. He went on to attend college at University of Central Arkansas and Ozarka College. Later he was employed by Crown Point Resort in Horseshoe Bend. He was of the Assembly of God faith and a member of the Horseshoe Bend Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his mother: Rita White Bailey and Tracy Sanders of Guion; his paternal grandmother: Marie Bailey Walker and husband Maurice Walker of Franklin; his maternal grandmother: Walase White and husband Cecil White of Cave City; one brother: Dustin Bailey and wife Melanie of Boonville; two nieces and one nephew: Meghan Bailey, Hannah Bailey and Ethan Bailey; his maternal aunt: Judy Sanders and husband Lyle of Franklin; cousins: Nathan Sanders and daughter Lilly, and Alissa Sanders Foyt and husband Doug and daughter Izzy; maternal aunt: Sharon Pop McCormack and husband Ken of Cave City; maternal uncle: Joe White and wife Vicky of Cabot and paternal uncle: Lonnie Bailey and wife Trish of Ash Flat and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

Glenna Allene Hargis Grills daughter of the late Allie Clarence Hargis and Nora Lee Henderson was born on December 11, 1924 in Larkin, Arkansas. She departed this life on November 9, 2013 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 88 years and 11 months. She was united in marriage to Joseph Clyde Grills on October 13, 1941. She spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her working years she was employed as the manager of a fabric store. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years: Joseph Clyde Grills of the home; two daughters: Kathryn and husband Silas Ogilvie of Melbourne and Leta Jo Shrable of Melbourne; eight grand children: Tim Shrable, Leta Gay Byram, Vicki Vines, Cindy Lillard, Michael Ogilvie, Sonya Dockins, Christy Haley, Keith Ogilive; sixteen great-grandchildren: Katlyn Shrable, Sydney Shrable, Sophie Shrable, Chelsea Wallis, Nicole Vines, Ashton Bryam, Shelbie Bryam, Charlee Jo Bryam, Zachary Dockins, Keeley Jo Massey, Drayson Gillihan, Andrew Haley, Aleisha Ogilvie, Andria Ogilvie, and Abbey Orf; one great-great-grandchild: Alyssa Fairve. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and two sisters.

Burial was held at Old Philadelphia cemetery under the direction of Eddie s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation was Sunday, November 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Natosha Tosha Alysse (Goodman) Brink, 24, of Hardy, Arkansas, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, near Black Rock. She was born December 13, 1989, in Topeka, Kansas, to Edward Luther Goodman Sr. and Carmen Denise Musick Goodman. She was a graduate of Arthur s Beauty College in Jonesboro, Ark. and was of the Baptist faith.
Tosha was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Edward Goodman and Tom Pedano.
Survivors include her husband, Alex Brink of the home; two sons, Braxton Wayne Goodman and Walker William Brink both of Hardy; one daughter, Abigail Chyanne Stanford of Hardy; two stepsons, Kaden Brink and Gage Brink both of Glencoe; her parents, Edward and Carmen Goodman of Ash Flat; two brothers, Edward Luther Goodman Jr. of Fort Carson, Colorado, and Nickolos McCray Goodman of Ash Flat; one sister, Stephanie Gail Goodman of Ash Flat; her grandparents, Cherylene Pedano of Evening Shade, Catherine Delong of Agnos, and William Musick of Nelsonville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Vernon Gene Hightower, age 63, of Ash Flat died Saturday, October 11 at the Arkansas Childrens Hospital Burn Unit due to complications from an accident. Vernon was a retired construction worker. He was born January 6, 1951 in Batesville to the late William and Mary (Inman) Hightower.
Vernon is survived by his son; Michael Hightower; grandson, Christian Hightower, and a brother Jerrell Hightower.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
A memorial service was held Friday, October 17 at 10 a.m. at the Franklin Fire Department. Inurnment followed at 2 p.m. in the Agnos Cemetery.
Judith (Judy) A. Butterbrodt departed from us July 11, 2014 at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, AR. Judy was born in Ladysmith, WI on October 26, 1943 to Karl W. Schmidt and Dorothy E. (Wilson).
Judy was a long-time resident of Marshfield, WI. Upon graduation from Marshfield Senior High School, June 1961, she began her employment with the School District of Marshfield, where she worked in the main office until her retirement in 2002. She also worked part-time in a design and floral shop, and became very proficient in her decoration hobbies at home.
On June 29, 1963 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Evan G. Butterbrodt at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield. She was active in the church and community. She was a member of the church choir for over thirty-five years. She worked with Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts in various capacities. Her and her husband worked as a team in the churches that he pastored during his second career.
Judy was the proud mother of two children, Michelle Renee, and Michael Scott.
Judy and Evan moved to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, July 12, 2004, and became quite active in the community. She had been very active in the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church. She was also a Master Gardener, an active AARP member, a member of the Honorary Police, a past member of the Wisconsin Club, as well as being involved in other volunteer work.
In 2009, Judy and her husband decided to find a winter home in Donna, TX in the Rio Grande Valley. While living in Donna, she became a member of The Amigos de Los Ni os de Mexico, the Casa Del Sol choir, volunteered in several other areas in the Casa Del Sol community. She regularly attended Weslaco First United Methodist Church.
Judy and her husband enjoyed travelling together, both here and abroad.
Judy was predeceased by her mother and father. She leaves to mourn her husband, Evan; her son, Michael and his wife Ruth (Baures) of Stoughton, WI; daughter, Michelle Walton and husband Calvin of Stone Mountain, GA, and three grandsons-Stefan, Ryan, and Caleb. She also leaves behind a brother, Gary Schmidt and wife Janet of Green Bay, WI, and two sisters-Karla Pfeiffer and husband Al of Austin, TX, and Deanna Christiansen and husband Michael of St. Louis Park, MN, and many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
As she gave of herself in life, she continues to give in death, as she had donated her body to science through Genesis (M.E.R.I.) in Memphis, TN.

Paul William Buck was born the son of Gene Merlin Buck and Norma Jean (Collins) Buck on February 14, 1954, in Janesville, Wisconsin. He departed this life February 2, 2014, at his residence in Franklin, at the age of 59 years. He was united in marriage on March 28, 2013 in Highland, to Lora R. Umphries.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, his four daughters, Dawn Borchardt and husband, Shawn, of Custer, South Dakota, Tara Ritter and husband Steve of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Cherish Buck of Tacoma, Washington and Nicole Peters and husband William of Wahiawa, Hawaii, his son, Cory Wright and wife Jeri of St. Louis, Missouri, stepchildren, Clarence Bricker III and wife Lesley and Crystal Ping and husband Josh, both of Terre Haute, Indiana. Twenty grandchildren were shared by Paul and Lora. Paul is also survived by two brothers, John Buck and wife Karen of Broadhead, Wisconsin, and James Buck and wife Cynthia of Violet Hill, two sisters, Sue Miller and husband Lance of Glencoe, and Mary Smith and husband Rocky of Violet Hill, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and nephew Simon R. Buck (son of James and Cynthia Buck.) Paul worked in the construction and carpentry business most of his life. He enjoyed doing woodworking activities for family and friends. Earlier in his life he worked at a charcoal plant in Missouri for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and and loved walks in the woods, gardening with Lora and fishing. His main purpose in these later years was to know the Lord and to do as God had directed him to do.
He was a member of the Word Works Ministries Church of Highland, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all.
There will be two memorials for Paul, one at the Word Works Ministries in Highland, on Sunday, February 23, with Rev. Joan Counts officiating and the other at the Assembly of God in Horseshoe Bend, on Sunday, February 16 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Berlin Walker officiating.
