Emmett F. Miller Jr., 79, of Benton, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004. Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Judsonia, he was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Sr. and Maude Marsh Miller; four brothers, Leon, Neal, Edward and Jimmy Miller; two sisters, Eloise Joyner and Mildred Douglas; and one daughter, Sue Ann Farquhar.
He is survived by two daughters, Stacie Huseman of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Sandra Miller of Hollywood, Fla.; three sons, Robert Miller of Fayetteville, Emmett F. Miller III of Little Rock and Jerome Miller of New Orleans, La.; a step-daughter, Terri Baltz of Pocahontas; two step-sons, Wayne and Chris Shaw of Bryant; three sisters, Carnell Gasaway of Beebe, Jane Murdauch of Judsonia and Linda Miller of Searcy; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob with Craig Miller and Wayne Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob.

Funeral services for Eric Modlin of Bradford were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Bradford First Assembly of God. Bro. Vince Vire officiated.
Special music was provided by keyboardist Melissa Poole, with song selections "Amazing Grace" and "A Winner Either Way." sung by James Poole.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Reene, Tommy Walker, Tom Strickland, Guy Hepner, Terry Walker, John Monday and Cecil Walker.

Jimmie Neal
Jimmie Neal, 62, of Searcy, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy. He was born in Hot Springs on Aug. 28, 1941, to Jewel Loyd and Floriene Sue Neal. Jimmie was a floral designer for many years at Tipton and Hurst and had also managed floral shops in Russellville and Morrilton and worked at Park Hill Florist. From 1992 until recently he worked as a rehab counselor at the Wilbur D. Mills Center in Searcy. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Bobbie Neal. Survivors include his mother, Floriene Neal of Lonsdale; one son, Scott Neal; one daughter, Stacy Riebel; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Neal of Benton and Donnie Neal of Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, in the Chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home by Bro. Carl Richey. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Michael Eugene Pallmore of Searcy were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Cloverdale Church of Christ. Wayne Waggoner, Larry Harrington, Ronnie Moore, Frank Mills and Peter Heffner officiated.
Congregational singing was led by Jeremy Swindle with song selections "God's Family," "Remind Me Dear Lord," "If That Isn't Love," "Because He Lives," "Holy Ground" and "The Greatest Commands."

Funeral services for James Edward Pearce of Searcy were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Searcy-McEuen Chapel. Bro. David Crouch officiated.
Song selections were "Old Rugged Cross," "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "Amazing Grace."

Cassandra 'Cassie' Amelia Posey
Cassandra "Cassie" Amelia Posey , 38, of Searcy, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at her home. She was born July 5, 1965, at Vicenza, Italy, to Carl D. Posey Jr. and Floetta Marie McSpadden Posey. She was a cook/cashier at Ozark Waffles in Searcy and Beebe and of the Protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl D. Posey Jr.
Survivors include her mother, Marie Posey of Searcy; three brothers, Don Posey of Beltsville, Md., Tony Posey of Searcy and Rodney Posey of Marmaduke; one half-sister, Shauna Posey Boles of Higginson; and her grandmother, Fannie Posey of Bradford.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Harding Academy Auditorium in Searcy with Bill Diles officiating. Interment will be at the Coffeyville cemetery in Possum Grape with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Locks of Love.
C.A. 'Chris' Gray
C.A. "Chris" Gray, 91, of Searcy, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. He was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Cleburne County to the late Charley and Alma Pearrow Gray. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kensett, a carpenter, farmer and a member of the Carpenters Union.
Survivors include sons Don Gray (Branson, Mo.) and Gary Gray (Fayetteville); brother, Dallas Gray (Pleasant Plains); five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Glenn Gray; brothers, Clarence and Cosley Gray; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Kensett with interment in Providence Cemetery. Arrangements by Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
William Green Lowery
William Green Lowery, resident of Judsonia, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004. He was 74 years of age.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob with interment in Salem Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Lowery will be Tuesday evening from 6-8.
Mr. Lowery was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Judsonia, the son of Albert B. and Leo Corine Greene Lowery. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from St. Louis County Water Company where he served as District Serviceman. He was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene Stevens Lowery; a son, Gregory William Lowery of Warrenton, Mo.; three daughters, Deborah Jo Baker of Portland, Ore., Anita Louise Pierce of Old Monroe, Mo., Patricia Gail Broeker of O'Fallon, Mo.; six brothers, Donald A. Lowery of Searcy, David C. Lowery of Bald Knob, James W. Lowery of Judsonia, Dr. Robert D. Lowery of Searcy, Thomas E. Lowery of Searcy, Dr. Benjamin R. Lowery of Searcy; one sister, B. Joyce Morris of Searcy; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lowery was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Thelma Hardin and Eva Mae Lowery.

Harvey 'Glen' Skelton
Harvey "Glen" Skelton was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Mississippi. Cancer took his life, but God took his soul Feb. 9, 2004. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Gunn Skelton; three daughters, LaDonna Haile of Pangburn, Gwenette London and husband, Greg of Conway, D'Lyna Bell and husband, John of Albion; three granddaughters, Chantal Rodgers, Haley London and Lakelan Bell; three grandsons, Justin James, Hunter Bell and Devan Bell; one brother, Clyde Skelton of Utica, Miss.; sisters, Erma Carr of Tennessee, Edna Walker of Mississippi, ElDean Kimbriel of Holly Springs, Ann McLaughlin of Searcy, Laverne Griffin of Bald Knob; Ruth McMullian of Coldwater, Miss.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gateway Baptist Church with interment in Philadelphia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 on Tuesday at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob.
Ira Herman West Jr.
Funeral services for Ira Herman West Jr. of Searcy were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at College church of Christ in Searcy. Glen Pace officiated.
Congregational singing was led by Arthur Shearin, with song selections "Be With Me, Lord," "In the Land of Fadeless Day" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." "The Lord's Prayer" was sung by Clifton Coleman Jr., Mr. West's son-in-law.
Active and honorary pallbearers were Jack McKinney, Bill Oldham, Rodger Gilliam, Clifton Ganus Jr., Ray Montgomery, Bob Simpson, Thad Wells, George Dillon, Dick Dean, Lavern Ritchey, Vernon Rogers, Herman Spurlock, Jack Wood Sears and Lions Club members.
Interment was in White County Memorial Gardens, Searcy, by Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
